  • Summary: My Memory of Us is a reminiscence of a friendship between a boy and a girl. A friendship made during tough times. Times of terror, pain, and exclusion in a world where people were forced to live in two artificially detached worlds.

    The game’s presentation is like a kid’s book that came to life, and you get to control the heroes, which is a stark contract in some ways to the deep nature of the plot. The story is based as a loose allegory for World War II. They obviously made a lot of changes, such as the robotic enemies; however, they handled an incredibly complex and dark theme well. I am very glad I got the opportunity to experience it. I had no clue what the game was when I fired it up on my Xbox. It was a pleasant surprise, and I hope more people get the chance to play and appreciate this work of art.

    It's fun for most audiences, but if you have kids of a certain age, My Memory of Us is a fantastic game to play together as it offers good puzzles for younger players and important themes worth your family time. Teaching kids about the worst parts of humanity is a delicate subject but also necessary so that they may grow up more loving and intelligent than some people in our history books. My Memory of Us is at its best as a teaching tool that reminds players of the power of love over hate.

    MY Memory of Us is a game which nears perfection storywise. The story is emotional and makes you want to play more and more. But unfortunately there are some gameplay elements that don't work as they should. Still this Indie is a must play.

    Even with some bum sections and controls that aren’t great, the art style and story focuses on a country that was heavily impacted by fascism — aftershocks are still felt there every Independence Day when Neo-Nazis and Antifa fight each other – and this narrative isn’t often told in this medium. The developers attempt to eschew politics, but their work is a good solicitation against repeating the mistakes of the past, and a compelling argument for compassion in the current climate.

    It feels trite to put a score on a game like Memory of Us as it tells an important and poignant story that should be heard, it's just that at times the game parts get in the way of that story.

    My Memory of Us, despite its stellar narration and its wonderful visual design, is a game that’s far too simplistic for its own good. The game’s puzzles rely on tired concepts that take little more than common sense to overcome, with added stealth elements that remain equal to that. The end result makes for a journey that aims to be both deep and emotional, but ultimately fails to meet its intentions.

    I really enjoyed what both the visuals and sound design delivered to me and this did make the presentation side of the game stir up a fewI really enjoyed what both the visuals and sound design delivered to me and this did make the presentation side of the game stir up a few different emotions. The story has a lot of meaning to it and in my opinion they’ve done a wonderful job of creating an immersive experience making you become quite attached to the characters. The puzzles aren’t the best I’ve ever seen I like the idea of using both characters in them because this teamwork makes completing them feel more important. I thought the collectibles you can obtain throughout gave the game even more of a meaning and in a way it made the game come alive more. There’s not enough variety present in the puzzles that are available to you and more of a challenge would’ve also been a welcome addition. Technically the game suffers with a few issues every now and then. In terms of content the game doesn’t have a huge amount for you to get to grips with. Overall I loved history when I was kid because learning about brave heroes always got my attention immediately. As you can imagine then I had quite a bit of interest in My Memory of Us and whilst it had a few shortcomings present it still took me on an emotional journey. The story is without a doubt the main thing that makes the journey so emotional and when you combine that with the excellent visuals and sound design you end up having an extremely immersive experience. Unfortunately though the gameplay isn’t as immersive and whilst I enjoyed using both characters to solve the different puzzles I just felt that the puzzles failed to pack a punch and in the end I was just craving more of a challenge. There isn’t much in terms of content as well and more would’ve been nice, but thankfully the collectibles do make the content that is present stand out quite considerably. At the end of the day then if you’re looking for a puzzle game that has many creative and unique puzzles then this game isn’t for you. However if you’re looking for an emotional journey that throws in a lot of detailed stories then you will thoroughly enjoy what My Memory of Us has to offer and in the end it does enough to get a thumbs up from me.… Expand

The visual are cute and compelling, there's definitely been a lot of work made by the art department. The storytelling is wonderful, emotions are nicely conveyed.

    The puzzles are "meh", which for a puzzle game is a little disappointing. I would have liked puzzles to be more complicated and more involving.

    But this is where it really stings: somehow, platformer phases were worked in the game, and those are frustrating. And once you get to the final boss, you'd better have nerves of steel or you might send the pad out the window. It's not hard, it's not punitive, it's just plain madness. The gameplay doesn't work for the platformer phases and gets you out of the story.    … Expand
