Graphically, Mushroom Quest reminds me of games like Bubble Bobble, or Q-Bert, with simple yet colorful pixel graphics. While the sprites are fairly basic themselves, the animation gives them a lively feel that engrosses the player. The levels’ music may be the same each time, but its a relaxing tune that never felt repetitive or grating.
The only complaint I have about Mushroom Quest is that there were only 30 levels. While the difficulty definitely ramped up as I completed each puzzle, I never felt that the game was too tough. One level is mostly comprised of timed trap doors, in which I had to maneuver quickly in short bursts to get to the gems scattered around the edges. While this took a while to get the timing right, I was really overjoyed when I finally beat it.
Pros:
-Difficulty scales
-Mechanics are easy to learn
-Awesome retro graphics
Cons:
-Very Short
Overall:
9/10
