    What a disappointing entry in the MK franchise!

    A lot of fan favourites are missing (Mileena, Rain, Sindel, Smoke...). The story is abysmal, makes no sense at all and effectively destroys the entire lore of the last 27 years. Also pushing you personal political agenda with certain tower endings is just disgusting. The developers lied about certain aspects (all characters in the story    What a disappointing entry in the MK franchise!

    Most importantly however: The developers showed how much they disrespect/hate one of the biggest fan favourites (Mileena) and her fanbase. They didn't include her in the game and mocked/ridiculed her fans for telling NRS how much they want their favourite to be a part of the new installment.

    The game is ok. Good graphics, sound and gameplay. This includes Microtransaction, Lootboxes and a calculated grind to match. I paid full price and this game is a scamm. DO NOT BUY IT! (or buy it when it is 1.99 in a wallmart basket)

Mortal Kombat 11 features an interesting story mode, plenty of characters and some new features that make an impact. Mortal Kombat 11 is all about the fans. The timeline as we know it is thrown into disarray by a villainous newcomer who wishes to restore the balance between realms by eliminating all events in Mortal Kombat's history. Rivalries and relationships we’ve come to know and love are all but in place, and in jeopardy of a downfall. By disrupting time the past and present to collide, with younger versions of characters being transported into the future from out of nowhere. There are so many great moments, and it’s a brilliantly creative premise, providing all the ingredients needed to thrust beloved characters into unexpected situations in time, capitalizing upon years of history to develop themselves further. Mortal Kombat never takes itself too seriously, and that's one of the enjoyments to it, is its solid story with extreme gore and fun. You can finish the story mode in five hours or so, despite its short length, I truly loved its twists and turns. Dramatic cut scenes transition into fights seamlessly, never taking you out of the action with a loading screen. I decided to dive in after the story to see everything Mortal Kombat 11 had on offer. Simply put? A lot... Familiar modes returning alongside a few new ideas that well to shake up the previous MKX formula. Klassic Towers are back, which are a classic arcade mode where you battle through a number of battles to earn individual endings that fully explain parts not fully explored in the main story. Towers of Time puts a clever spin on the chaotic mode with the new coming villain time-bending applying modifiers to each fight. This adds an extra layer of challenge to each tower, requiring you to lessen this effect with modifiers of your own earned within The Krypt mode as from past games. The Krypt has you stumbling upon Shang Tsung Island. The once prosperous landmass is now a dark, fiery environment filled with corpses and decaying architecture. Under all the doom and gloom, there’s also loads of treasure and unlockables to be found. Concept art, combat modifiers and unique cosmetics for each character are packed in each chest. These require coins to open, a currency earned by completing tasks down to the smallest combo to breaking jars in Mortal Kombat 11. You’ll find other modes of currency which are much harder to collect, leading me to grind them out on a few occasions to accomplish my goals. Because of this the Krypt soon became a regular hunt that I returned to, so I could hopefully open new un-lockables for my main game. It’s not a linear, with the island spanning in several directions. You’ll encounter puzzles alongside lore delivered by a movie theater trailer style narration. It’s excellent fun, and a welcome change of pace to the normal Kombat. Local and online multiplayer return in Mortal Kombat 11 with a few different modes to experiment with including building an AI battling team to challenge other AI teams similar to what you would find in a coaching simulation mode in a sports game. Boasting such a vast array of stages, characters, modifiers, and fatalities, along with the sheer amount of Kustomization, I see the fans rallying behind this latest entry as time goes on. We’re bound to see much added DLC to include an array of characters, modes, and customization over the coming years. Warner Bros.     This game lost the MK scent. Too many microtransactions, too politically correct, too repetitive, bad story, the worst roost. Really dissapointing Netherrealm becomes even worse than EA. Don't waste your money in this stuff.

    Bring back breast physics!!!! Boobs move, they don't just stand still! This game is still amazing regardless, (P.S. I have a more in-depth review with the Switch version.) The graphics on the Xbox One X are stunning, btw.

    I was really looking forward to this game, unfortunately too much focus is not on fighting but on grinding for consumables and random unlockables (good luck unlocking a specific skin for your favourite character). I miss a classic arcade mode without the fuss of consumables. Yesterday, I felt like I wanted to return my game to the store. The game looks and sounds fantastic, but other thanI was really looking forward to this game, unfortunately too much focus is not on fighting but on grinding for consumables and random unlockables (good luck unlocking a specific skin for your favourite character). I miss a classic arcade mode without the fuss of consumables. Yesterday, I felt like I wanted to return my game to the store. The game looks and sounds fantastic, but other than that it's a big let down compared to Mk9 and MkXl.

    If you haven't bought this game already then I would suggest that you either wait for the full version when the price has gone down or stick to MkXL (yes!!!) at least if you're not only going to be playing online tournament matches against other people.

    I love MK. I remember the first time playing with my brother on a small TV. I was really hyped for this one, only to find a random lottery-krypt and insane unbalanced towers.
    The game looks cool, I like the story too, but this kind of grind is made PURPOSEFULLY so people get tired/angry and spend (more) money.
    Shame on you NRS.

The pressure to keep profit margins and brand awareness (and acceptance) high has ironically led yet another game down the wrong priority path.

    Come on, this is a game that spells Combat with a K and has fighters ripping other fighters in half. They purposefully chose to go with a grind that pushes toward microtransactions! It doesn’t matter that they patched it. They had intended to squeeze as much out of the consumer as possible (and the biggest reason this is getting a 0). No skimpy outfits? I get both sides of the argument. Objectification Vs Censorship. Again, this is a brand known for its brutality but they seem to have said this isn’t a hill worth dying on? They did some picking and choosing on what they wanted to be socially responsible with.     - amount of playable characters. In a game where the past meets the present, The opportunity to bring in ALL the bad ass characters in the MK universe was unprecedented. Instead most were left out. (and several of the fan favorites.) Unless they're going to show up as DLC. which is cool for the major players (Goro) but not so much for the regulars (Mileena, Reptile,....too many to list)

    - tower difficulty is stupid. Just stupid. Medium difficulty (the lowest I've seen so far) actually translates to absurd. Every battle has an opponent only modifier ranging from extra damage to a second opponent showing up to juggle you to infinity. Noob Saibot has a modifier where you go "blind" when hit.....Try playing MK with your TV turned off.......yeah, that stupid.

    Basically is a beautiful game with a great storyline that seemed more concerned with a cash grab than giving players what they want. Everything they did right with Injustice 2 (costume customization, varying difficulty towers, char progression, etc.) they've abandoned here. I'm betting the MK fanbase is gonna shrink substantially after this one. The inevitable MK12 will be a "wait till it's on sale" buy for me.....if I bother at all.
    Should have bought the PC version on Steam so I could have refunded it.

    So I just played again after the update. Tripled the currency rewards, which allows you to grind chests faster, but still grindy. A lot of the characters are just written out of character or they literally make you sit through an arc that character finished(I’m looking at you scorpion). I played the story once, the krypt once, and a tower and I have no desire to go back, which is sad because I was addicted to mk2. Nrs has their work cut out for them. Mk12 cut the sjw non sense, I shouldn’t feel like I’m doing a math problem to buy stuff that’s on the disk that I paid full price for, and really focus on the lore that you created.....we’ll wait you’ve undone that with the ending, so make a fresh start, new characters, make the scorpion specter a curse or something(have a new host) just a completely new game altogether. Women cant show any skin but its okay for parents to kill their children and vice versa. Political correctness in games is already stupid but its even worse when it happens in Mortal Kombat that until now was the most anti political correctness franchise of all.

    Completing the entire story will barely give you enough currency to clear one room in krypt. From this, I got 1 brutality, some common skins and few consumables. You can't so much as clear a single hard tower with all the stuff I got.

These towers are not just a pure test of fighting skills, they also feature: unblockable blood missiles which drain you life and gives it to the enemy, acid rain, enemy getting armour on low health and some absolutely ridiculous damage modifiers.
    Earning said consumables and rare gear is extremely grindy, requiring you to complete event specific and daily towers, as well as clearing multiple easier towers. The krypt chests get progressively more expensive and the drop rate for rare or better items is very low. For context, I opened a total of 23 chests in the krypt and got only 2 rare gear across different characters.    … Expand

    A Komplaint I have not seen is that the Time Towers are too few in numbers. There is a daily set, an hourly set, and the rest that lasts longer than a day. If you grind at it you will find that you are out of towers you want to do pretty quickly. Also, tower sets repeat meaning fewer rewards from those towers if you already did them.    … Expand

The game has server crashes as well which I’ve never had to deal with in previous mortal kombat games and the krypt is a time consuming grind fest just to dress up the characters. The game has so many penalties that it does not warn you about like losing augments during re rolling for gear items. The game is inconsistent and frustrating making it not worth buying. Even when pulling off a flashy kombo it doesn’t feel as good as it does in the last game. I see many people constantly having to contact customer support from WB games with various issues ranging from bugs and glitches to getting gear items You already own when thats not supposed to happen. I went from telling everybody to get this game to please don’t waste your money or your time just because it’s better than the other fighting games on the market.     Cons: The Krypt. This is majority of peoples complaint and i can understand why. Because now theyve made all the krypt chest random. Which is just stupid. Now it doesnt matter which chest you open ,whether expensive or cheap, in the start area or end. Its all the same. Its plain stupid. Was much better when it mattered what chest you opened. FIX THIS! The next one is one i havent seen listed and am amazed more havent complained about it. The rate at which i am able to block is way way to slow. In a fast paced game like this,when i hit the block button i should immediately block. In MK11 there is at least a 1 second delay from button press to actually blocking. This is extremely too long for a game that it should be immediate. How am i supposed to compete against other players when i cant even block their attacks in time!!! Stupid! FIX THIS!! Luckily there arent many Cons, if i find more i will definitely add.

    In closing: This Mortal Kombat is easily one of the best in the series ,but held back by greatness because of some easily correctable issues. If they can correct the issues that are frustrating so many fans this will undoubtedly be the best MK. I will upgrade the score to a 9 when things are fixd.

    Moving past all the BS that this game is getting because a certain character died and was no included, the game has a lot of strong points than weak ones. The story was amazing for a fighting game. It wasn't a masterpiece like Last of Us or the Mass Effect Trilogy, but it is fun to experience. The gameplay is by far top of the food chain, always experimenting with new things and they work. The roster is also one of the game's strong point. A lot of these reviews will say that the game is bad because it doesn't have "this character". Not every game is gonna be like MK9. There are new characters that have to make it on the roster and not every ninja will make the roster every time. It is just something we, the Mortal Kombat fans, just gotta get used to by now. It has been like this since Mortal Kombat 4.

    Other than those points, there are some weak ones to follow. The grind is real. What people are saying about the grind isn't false but Neatherrealm did address it. Also the towers are difficult even for seasoned players. It is like they took the multiverses from Injustice 2 and jacked them with steroids. I am making my way through them but boy is it a challenge. There is also The Krypt but I have grown to accept it the way it is. Most chest are random but there is a handful that are not.

    The most amazing Mortal Kombat storyline. I have not played the game but I have watched the cutscenes from the game. Kotal Kohn vs Shao Kahn was very spectacular. Ronda Rousey as Sonya Blade was very kickass. Kronika was fit for a villain like her. Timeline to Timeline was just so thriling.

    This game is sooo good, great roster and love it to death but there is something that is bothering me quite a lot. Although i hate to see this game getting review bombed cause of some of the female kombatant's designs, they are supposed to be fighters, not strippers, they look better than ever before. Love their new looks.

    Now onto the bad part, in order to get some of the loot, you need to be *ALWAYS* online which sucks cause it's not certain that our Internet will always be up and running (just like yesterday for me).
    I don't really see the point of always having to being online in order to get loot, feels so restricted when playing offline.

    Here's hoping we get to unlock and keep stuff offline, i think the Switch users have it the worst.
    It could've been a perfect 10 but yesterday was kind've sour for me.

    En honor a la justicia diria que el juego en cuanto al genero de peleas tiene un 9 sobrado, La mejor version en consolas graficamente hablando. Pero como siempre los micropagos son el "pero" que viene a bajarle un poco la nota. No voy a ser un extremesita como muchos y reconocera el gran trabajo que hicieron en lo importante.

    Personally, I would give MK11 a solid 10, it's just that damn good in terms of game play this time around. However the monetization really is as big an issue as some may have heard.

    Overall, MK11 is the best game in the franchises history and definitely a worthy addition to the storied franchise.     Common complaints people seem to have:
    "MICROTRANSACTIONS ARE BAD!!!" - Sure, yes they are...except EVERYTHING in this game is unlockable in-game, and only cosmetics are locked. No aspect of gameplay is blocked off.
    "KRYPT IS TOO GRINDY~~" - This is for longevity. My ONLY gripe with this is that the towers were way too difficult to reliably make money playing them, but that's being toned down. Furthermore, WHY WOULD YOU WANT EVERY SINGLE ITEM IN-GAME ANYWAYS?! People are making absolutely ABSURD calculations about what it would cost time-wise to grind everything out...have you considered /not/ grinding everything out? Especially considering that chances are, you're going to make a dozen or so total customizations and never touch the other costumes? It's ridiculous.
    People want to sit on their high-horse and complain about " ~~dishonest video-game journalists~~ " and their "inaccurate scores" or weighing things a certain way.......and yet they flood these review sites and fill them with straight 0's because of something they've been led to be outraged by, dismissing /any/ potential positives along the way.
    tl;dr if you're a fighting or MK fan, GET THIS GAME! It is amazing, and own't disappoint you. Ed Boon and the team at NRS did a SOLID job, and I really hope that this backlash from these whiny entitled baboons on reddit don't hinder their spirits too much.    … Expand

    It's really irritating to go through the reviews on here, and see everyone giving it low scores while admitting it's a good game. The gameplay of Mortal Kombat 11 is excellent, the story is fun and interesting, the characters are fun and creative, and the graphics are a huge step up. As a game, this succeeds in every way. People seem to have two main issues with it. The first is theIt's really irritating to go through the reviews on here, and see everyone giving it low scores while admitting it's a good game. The gameplay of Mortal Kombat 11 is excellent, the story is fun and interesting, the characters are fun and creative, and the graphics are a huge step up. As a game, this succeeds in every way. People seem to have two main issues with it. The first is the ridiculous microtransactions. I absolutely agree that these are unacceptable, and must be changed, but thankfully they don't ruin the game since they are only really linked to cosmetic items. I don't think it's acceptable, but it doesn't justify saying this is a bad game. The second issue people have taken with this game is that somehow it's too political for them. The fighting game where you rip people's spines out. The developer can a story as they like, and I have no issue with it. One major bit has been the ending for Jax in the klassic towers, which people are considering "reverse racism". *Spoilers* If you beat the mode with Jax, he has the opportunity to rewrite history from scratch, and he undoes slavery. What's the problem with that? Is there a single person here who wouldn't just erase slavery if they could? Because if there is, I don't really care about their opinions on anything, much less a video game.… Expand

    En este MK me gusto mucho su sistema de combate, por ejemplo la opción de seleccionar diferentes habilidades para los combos y elegir los que mejor se adapten a tu estilo de pelea, otra es que quitaron los x-ray por los fatal blows solo se pueden activar 1 ves por pelea y solo cuando estés el 30% de vida. Visualmente de lo mejor, puedes ver el sufrimiento en las caras. Lo ultimo y lo mas controversial son las microtransacciones, aclaro que compre el juego 1 mes después de que salio y se que arreglaron mucha caca, pero ahora en este momento no he usado nada de dinero y ya tengo mis personajes bien personalizados como los quiero tener, solo tengo 25 hrs de juego y tengo por lo menos un 40% de las cosas cosméticas y abrí ya todos los cofres, tanto de dinero, como de almas y corazones y ese es otro punto malo porque aun así me faltan cosas por desbloquear y te obligan a gastarte dinero para regenerar cofres y puedas seguir abriendo. Yo lo recomiendo si vas a pasar muchas horas jugando o si solo es para jugar con amigos, como yo al principio, pero me encanto y lo sigo jugando.     Could of been a 9 or 10. Core game is great. Glad they got rid of x rays. Too many currencies, and silly grinding. Towers of time isn't fun, and shouldn't have to be online all the time. The RNG factor in the crypt was a greedy decision. I don't like politics in games, but it didn't effect my score. I would recommend the game, but I'm a little disappointed.     Mortal Kombat 11 is a great successor to the series previous successors with a large cast of fan favorite characters and engaging game play. My review will be mainly based on the game itself, although all recent criticism the game has been receiving will be elaborated after I've given a fair review. To quickly detail the experience as someone who has spent a considerable amount of time playing the game already I can say that it's terrific in many ways, the game play is some of the best yet, the visuals and animations are incredibly realistic and the story telling is as good as you can expect from a MK game. The characters are great, with old and new fighters making an appearance, they all have good characterization, memorable designs and faces and a large variety of ways to play each character/ display the character how you want to. Admittedly the game is at it's worst when playing through the challenge tower as some fights can be painfully hard or just not fun to deal with and when these fights occur you usually have two options, allow the AI to fight for you or use a rare 'konsumable' instead. Overall the game is a great experience and probably one of the best fighting games to date, with a large amount of content and different ways to play/learn different characters it's genuinely a great experience. If you're on the fence about it, definitely give it a go because it's worth your time playing as both a fighting game fan or simply a casual gamer.

    Talk about the games criticism:
    The main criticisms of the game are the women, and the supposed 'SJW' influences. Personally I believe this does little to detract from the game play or the narrative of the game, truthfully it only means something if you let it mean something to you. The main argument people are using when talking about the female fighters is that they no longer dress or look similarly to how they did in previous installments, MK11 has women in armors and generally covered clothes which to many seems like a serious step down from the bikini babes that would fight in previous entries. Personally I don't understand the importance of the bikini fighters since it never meant anything to the narrative, maybe even the game apart from eye candy and sex appeal; as for the some of the changes to women in race of looks, it's simply to build upon characters, Kitana seems more realistic and visually memorable as a person instead of a fan wielder and even revamped people like Skarlet never really had any backstory until MK11, this meant that she could be created in many different ways, the nationality and character seems fitting of herself anyways.
    The talk about SJW game play is ridiculous at literally no point does the game do anything to alienate its audience unless you think Jax's ending is some sort of propaganda which it truly is not, Jax's ending isn't a problem for the most part, like I said before, there's truly no problem with it unless you're strictly looking for Jax's ending to be problematic. Another thing to note is a Shao Khan intro where he says "let's make outworld great again", clearly it's referencing the famous Donald Trump line yet I can't understand why people would find this so offensive in a game about brutalizing your opponent; I agree that politics has no place in any game, especially Mortal Kombat yet it still seems wrong to ridicule the game simply because there's a character intro with very little context or even basis to make a claim about. Also people are talking about the Micro-transaction action they implemented, listen unless you literally need everything the game has to offer you won't care. You can commonly find new items/visuals for your favorite characters and you don't need to pay or work tirelessly to get them, there's dedicated towers which gives users specific items for a character of their choice and it's barely even a chore to unlock them.
    Finally, after reading all of these reviews I'm seeing a large amount of people complain about Mileena not being in the game, I can understand their frustration, Mileena was my favourite MK10 character and sure, I wanted to see her in it too, but really? A large amount of these reviews claim that people won't even play the game because Mileena's not even in it which is just pettiness in it's saddest form.
    It's disappointing to see a great game such as this being boycotted for the worst reasons imaginable by the people who claim to be fans of the series but wont even try the game because of something they saw/read online.    … Expand

Shao Kahn is part of the story mode but is DLC 4. There's microtransactions for something that can be unlocked easily and what it is (time    I would give it a 10 if it weren't for these two things

    The game is incredible and the towers of time seem to be fixed. The microtransactions aren't that big but the grinding on this game is HUGE on the towers. Even with that, graphics are great, sound and music are incredible and the gameplay is one of the best. Absolutely recommended

    This games combat is okay same mortal kombat feel just slower however half the game is unplayable due to it being locked behind towers of time as well the random krypt for customizing your character and i mean character to have a few would take years to do. Towers of time feels like test your luck in other MK games except there is content locked behind it.     The gameplay is still filled with the gruesome and gory violence that we’ve come to know and love, the extensive character customization is a welcome addition and the chance of pace is something this longtime fan appreciates. Mortal Kombat 11 is definitely something that any fighting game aficionado should add to their Kollection.

    In some ways there are only marginal and cosmetic differences from Mortal Kombat XL. That’s no bad thing, as fans of the series as well as fans of NetherRealm’s last fighter, Injustice 2, will be comfortable with the feel and mechanics, but those tweaks and enhancements, as well as the excellent story mode, mean that with MK11, Mortal Kombat has pretty much now been perfected.     With a deep but logical fighting system, heaps of gruesome over-the-top violence and a lovably insane cinematic story mode, Mortal Kombat 11 is an excellent fighting game that should have something for just about every fan of the series, let down only somewhat by a greasy and convoluted customisation system driven by loot boxes and grinding.
