Dec 20, 2020Morbid: The Seven Acolytes on Xbox is an excellent Souls-like experience and one that any fan of the genre should play. It’s constantly rewarding and delivers a frantic challenge on the whole. There are some hiccups along the way but it’s not enough to bring down this trip into steampunk nightmares.

Dec 14, 2020When you emulate some of the greatest games ever made it can be hard to stack up. Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is a decent game, its gruesome theme and vast lore that really bring the world to life. There’s a large variety of enemies but the combat is somewhat shallow. Exploring new environments is enjoyable, but trying to traverse them quickly can get tiresome due to the slow walking speed. If you enjoy the Soulsborne games, are a Lovecraft fan, or take pleasure in beating up on strange grotesque pixel art monsters, then Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is worth a look.

Dec 2, 2020Mornia is a top-down 2D pixelart world that is a gruesome joy to explore and attempt to liberate. It’s difficulty will put some off, but Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is a competent and accessible souls-like experience, that gives everyone a level playing field with its minimalist systems and simple move sets.

Dec 7, 2020Morbid: The Seven Acolytes may not be the first title to transfer the Dark Souls formula to an isometric perspective, but it makes it worth the shift in aesthetic. Combat is challenging and fun with boss fights, in particular, providing plenty of thrills. However, the game also suffers from some frustrating moments, largely tied up in its lack of explanation and visual detail, even when it comes to basics like mechanics and leveling up. When Morbid: The Seven Acolytes gets things right, though, it is a great experience thanks to its engrossing gameplay, and it's worth a look for anyone who calls the Soulslike genre home.
