With sometimes infuriating gameplay due to awkwardly placed enemy monsters and small movement space ensures the simplest of baddies can put up quite a challenge. Be prepared for losing life simple enemies, dying a few times and raging at the lack of a checkpoint system or at the brutally harsh insta death spikes. With bosses at just the 2nd level and no sign or being able to upgrade your drone or yourself prior to this makes this inital meeting very annoying aided bu the fact of no visible HP bar to tell you how close you are. I personally found the controls to have a slight delay even taking into account input delay or running wired. Shooting from your drone to kill baddies uses the right analog stick and I personally found this quite clumsy and felt like shooting required more finesse than your movements allow. I have known this method to work in other games, but for me here it just wasn't clicking or felt natural. This game does have it's shortcomings as is so often the case when ideas like this are meshed together and end up not executing well. Oddly enough once you look past what is not right the gameplay can at times be quite entertaining. I'd say pick this one should you be looking to add something to add to game library cheaply but not expecting much. Expand

I expected Mecho Tales on Xbox One to be a bad take on a good formula, but it proved me wrong. Instead, it provided a fun couple of hours of an unimpactful yet joyous action platformer which should attract anybody looking for a unique art style. It is an indie game which has the self-awareness to know what to accomplish from a gameplay point of view, but not perhaps from a storytelling perspective.
