    So, is it worth investing your money and time in either the Snowbound or Elite Class DLC packs for Mantis Burn Racing? Well, if you’ve found yourself maxing out everything that the standard career brings, then it’s a bit of a no-brainer and you’ll want to get yourself involved asap. The cheap price and free-ness of Snowbound warrant that at the very least.

    Overall, it’s great to see a new top-down racer that isn’t just a re-hashed mobile game, and one that handles well to boot. It can be a blast with a few mates on the couch and has a fully fledged campaign that doesn’t resort to just getting three stars per race for when your mates are off doing less fun things.

    I love top down racers, and Mantis Burn Racing does a great job at being accessible for casual racers, yet it has enough features and a full bodied career mode for those that want to dive in deeper.

    It stands out from the typical racing game you see today and it’s much more affordable. Although I have some minor complaints, its strengths greatly outweigh them.

    Handling can make or break a racing game, and thankfully the VooFoo development team have got the balance just right, with controls feeling responsive and vehicles behaving just as you’d expect them to.

    They don’t come around as often anymore, but Mantis Burn Racing shows that the topdown racer is still alive and kicking. It excels in being a casual and accessible racer for newcomers with excellent and responsive controls while offering a robust and challenging career mode for the hardcore. While the load times can sometimes get annoying between races, the actual gameplay is fun whether you’re playing solo or with your buddies.

    Il y a longtemps que l'on fait des jeux de course vus du dessus, depuis l'époque où sur Amiga par exemple sévissaient les Supercars quiIl y a longtemps que l'on fait des jeux de course vus du dessus, depuis l'époque où sur Amiga par exemple sévissaient les Supercars qui chiaient des mines sur leurs concurrents ou bien le très connu Micromachines évidemment. C'est un genre devenu cependant une niche à jeux indés -et encore- avec des résultats très inégaux.

    Mofo Studios s'est penché sur la question et a donc délivré en 2016 son Mantis Burn Racing jouable en multi évidemment mais aussi et surtout dans une longue campagne solo assez bien faite qui gère l'évolution des véhicules du joueur via leur achat, leurs améliorations et les points d'expérience gagnés à chaque épreuve. On revient donc souvent sur les courses passées plus fort et plus vindicatif que jamais, une fois qu'on a sensiblement vitaminé ses **** bolides... pour donner une leçon à une IA qui abuse un peu trop de ses prérogatives...

    Les bolides sont répartis en 3 catégories, du plus lourd au plus léger, du plus pataud au plus maniable mais qui ont chacun leur comportement, du plus nerveux au plus stable : on sent nettement les différences d'une catégorie à l'autre, ce qui est très appréciable. Les revêtements vont de l'asphalte à la piste en terre mais généralement les **** salopiauds dérapent copieusement, un point très réussi de ce petit jeu d'arcade qui ne souffre d'aucun défaut de maniabilité.

    Le jeu est d'ailleurs très joli, surtout avec la patch Xbox One Enhanced qui délivre un 4K/60 des plus mignons, hormis très rarement -et inexplicablement- un ralentissement ou deux lorsque l'IA dézingue trop de barrières d'un coup (?!)... On sera moins satisfait avec les effets sonores plutôt ratés et la musique Bontempi -dont on peut heureusement couper le sifflet.

    De même, on regrette un manque de circuits, d'autant qu'au vu de la configuration de la (longue) carrière, on tourne trop vite en rond sur les mêmes tracés... Cela étant, Mantis Burn Racing demeure tout-à-fait recommandable pour sa jouabilité immédiate mais raffinée et sa belle présentation.    … Full Review »
