The original stories of animals growing bone like armor, emitting flesh-eating toxins, or using electricity as a weapon were simply just old fisherman's tales. That is until conspiracy theorists everywhere pointed to the original Maneater as solid proof of a Government coverup. Trip Westhaven, driven the brink of madness, fires up his ViewTube channel “Truth Quest”, to take his followers, the “Questers” into deep waters in an effort to uncover the dark secrets behind this whale of a tale. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Giving this DLC a low score for 2 reasons - time trials and change in animal behaviors.

Firstly the time trials require that you lunge out of the water to high places. The problem is that lunge has NEVER worked properly. Over half the time you lunge out of the water you do a backflip and go the other direction. This is supposedly tied to how the camera is but the problem is that if you don't have your fingers on those controls then you cannot double jump like you need to. The lunge is horribly, horribly broken and should have never been part of these stupid time trials. Fix the lunge and maybe it makes sense. This is really unacceptably bad when a required control is completely uncontrollable!!!!

The second issue is that as a L30 shark I was able to rip pretty much everything but whales to shreds by thrashing. Suddenly in the DLC with animals half my level they always get away at least once. The new area nerfs the skills you got from the main game. The hunters are also in indestructible boats and helicopters making the whole infamy system just a complete drain and absolutely not fun.

The final boss is just plain ridiculous. The original game was an easy, stressfree experience and this DLC's final boss is the absolute worst enemy in the entire game. It is completely unoriginal, unfair and way too long. It has armor that you have to get through by hitting it with effectively 3 bombs and then you may be able to dent the health before it automatically gets all its armor back. This means it'll take forever to finish this battle for absolutely no good reason. On top of that you are pinned into a small area where you cannot maneuver, the boss can keep up with you constantly so you have to continually evade, any extra speed you might be used to gets disabled on most of its attacks, it cuts through the screen either blocking your view or just auto-magically grabbing you, all its attacks take away half your health, there are few fish to regenerate your power attack and when you are almost done it spawns in 2 more of the DLC bosses. There is absolutely nothing fun or fair about this fight. It is a giant waste of the entire DLC.

This is just a bad DLC for a good game. If there is another DLC then I doubt I'll buy it as the team clearly doesn't know how to build DLCs that complement the existing gameplay. This is just garbage.
