    Worst madden in the series. Don’t try to kick field goals, the lag will cause it to miss. Don’t play online it’s PTW like always and matchmaking is garbage. Franchise is still bad. CPU can have perfect cover and open receivers with vastly inferior players. Defensive tackles keep up with jackson and Murray, short passes are the NPCs go to even when they’re losing at the end of the game, andWorst madden in the series.     The worst game in the series. Glad I rented and didn’t buy, haven’t bought in 3 years and won’t buy until they get their crap together or another competitor comes along.

    Absolutely awful. This game continues to decline, and has reached its lowest point yet. There have been no meaningful changes to this game in years. The outcry from the community is crucial in this moment and EA should be exposed for what they've done to a game that has so much wasted potential.

    This game is **** Player requests fall on deaf ears. All effort went into 2 modes: "Madden Ultimate Team" and "The Yard", which are both non-simulation and heavily monetized.

    Only giving Madden 21 a "1" rating simply for the decent game play graphics when you're not dealing with a bug or other glitches. The game play is the same as the past several years and once again Franchise mode is completely neglected for another microtransaction mode.

I downloaded the trial through EA Play and I don't know what I expected. This franchise has been the same series for 5 whole years. I'm tired. I'm not doing this anymore.     madden 19 with updated rosters. Terrible animations, horrible gameplay. EA needs to give up with stronghold on the NFL license.

    The one game mode "new" this year is actually a rehashed mode from an old madden game. Spoiler: this game is terrible.

    They said that madden 21 was going to be an improvement over madden 20 but it is even worse. The gameplay is awful and the CPU has 100% completion. Simulation in franchise is broken and doesn't work. I'm doubting EA has any real programmers anymore these algorithms are broken. Don't waste your money. The game should have an even lower score but EA hires people to write reviews. #NFL drop EA

    Madden 21 is an improvement over Madden 20, but not so much that this couldn't be a patch. The Yard is fun, but if the bandwidth put toward that had been put toward improving Franchise I think this would be a much better game. Playing PvP is a nightmare filled with nothing but frustration

Features that, I think, make a complete NFL Franchise experience, still haven’t been added (back). Game play mechanics masked by added coaching adjustments. Unrealistic, arcade like scenarios and animations that frustrate the everyday Franchise player. Features and options being added to game modes a majority of ya really don’t care about....except the fact they’ve been added, to game modes...that we don’t care about. The money you’d expect me to spend buying shorts for my created character in The Yard, I’m buying in real life. I’ve made the mistakes of buying packs on MUT after being burnt out grinding challenges and playing 99 OVR Teams in a pay to win environment. I buy the game because I enjoy the game of football. Because I enjoy getting together with the same 32 guys that try to ignore the fact that this game has been crumbling over the years but there’s no other way to experience simulation style football. EA execs are suffocating any chance for exceptional games to hit the market to allow the right experience model to hit the shelf. Madden 21 was EA’s standard money grab. Whether you’re a deep league player like myself or a first time Madden player, I would wait until November to purchase this game. Since then EA makes you pay MUT coins to play Draft in a 6 round single elimination series in which you'll lose in-game currency if you lose your first game (very frustrating).     Madden 21 has regressed in almost everything from Madden 20 in gameplay experience. Playbooks are essentially the same just with shuffled plays for each team's book. Defense is both trash at tackling and overpowered at intercepting the ball. Juke moves cause tacklers to stutter and not even reach for the ball carrier sometimes. Top tier WRs can't break away from crappy CBs just because of the speed rating (man coverage stats don't seem to matter here). 50/50 balls no more. Either your WR drops it or the CB will intercept it (more often than not). Defensive line is straight up crap at breaking through the O line. Blitzes are beyond ineffective. They don't do anything except waste extra players who could be better used in coverage. This attributes to QB rollouts too often and sometimes up to 10 seconds of QB handling with no pressure after the snap. This is both unrealistic to the NFL and also a serious downgrade from prior releases of Madden. I could go on..    … Expand

    Just an absolute disappointment of a game. EA honestly should’ve released this with the beta tag still attached. The NFL has one of the most passionate fan bases and unfortunately they’re represented in the gaming industry by a company solely driven by profit margins. Numerous glitches, stripped features, and a general lack of client satisfaction has left me frustrated and disappointed

While EA has moved more towards a younger age 13 and under target audience with new modes like the yard, EA has continued to dissapoint those wanting a fottball simulation game. EA has yet again disregarded NFL defenses as able to hold an offense to less than a tuchdown 2 out of every 3 drives. Offenses are exfremely overpowered yet again, and tackling bugs in the game only make the lroblem worse. The bugs in the game are numerous, and EA has once again released an unfinished prototype of a game. The game Madden 21 is not a good buy, stay away… Expand

The Yard is just as buggy as the regular team vs team gameplay, same recycled franchise mode, face of the franchise is a dud, ultimate team might be okay if that’s your thing but I’ve never liked it. Only positives in my eyes are new cleats and visors. Other than that the game’s garbage, everybody knows it, besides the developers who show no accountability and present signs of being delusional when mentioning this game on social media. The addition of Colin Kaepernick is totally political and is rated way to high. Once politics come in I check out. Maybe back if necessaryJust rinse and repeat of the last few years. Even the most basic efforts in testing would have uncovered the litany of glitches and bugs riddled throughout all gaming modes. The lack of player responsiveness has made the game unplayable.

    From native lag during gameplay, players lined up in incorrect locations (WRs lined up as guards, etc.), fields missing lines, players warping into pre-scripted animations, and playbook oddities, I am appalled by the lack of effort payed to an iconic franchise. Even their highly-profitable Ultimate Team mode (MUT) has numerous bugs that limit the ability to transact.

    After 1-week of frustration, today I will be returning a title for the first time in 7 years.    … Expand

    EA offered a free trial of the game over the current weekend so I'd thought I'd try out the game to see how bad it actually was. Long gone are the days where I pay for Madden.

    The game was about what I expected. The frostbite engine is simply not good for football.     If you enjoy simulation football or actually being able to control players instead of them being locked in to long animations you will not enjoy this game.

    Ultimate team clogs the game with advertisements.

The only hope for EA to put out better Maddens in the future is if they can develop The Yard into something playable / rewarding to play.

    I have bought madden every year since 08.. The past 4 games have been trash, with 19 and 20 being so bad that I hated them. SOMEHOW THEY COPIED 20 AND IT GOT WORSE.

    It's official. This is the last madden I'll ever buy. I hope this franchise dies.

    The physics has nothing to do with realism or a football simulation. One can also say: the players do not understand the basics of football.
    In addition, the game has more bugs and glitches than ever before in a Madden title. And unfortunately you can also see that EA makes zero effort to improve / repair the game, let alone to feed Madden with new features (Classic franchise untouched for 8 years).

    This year's Face of the Franchise mode is hideous, filled with bad animations / interactions of the characters, with gruesome voices and the story itself just doesn't make any sense!

    The only thing that shows potential in this game is this year's The Yard mode, but this is also often not playable at the moment (the playing field turns white, as if aliens are ruling the world). If it works perfectly, it's also a lot of fun, but then it's a lot like arcade.

    This is by far the worst Madden I've played in the last decade. Do yourself a favor to not buy this crappy game! EA doesn't earned it for this ****    … Expand

    Ima get to the point, people are playing nfl 2k5 other than this game. That game came out in 2005. This game came out 2020 August. Game has too many glitches. The preview trailer shows so many cool things about the yard and fixes and amazing stuff. So i got the MVP version. $100 to EA for a game i havent played for 2 weeks

Awful promos and blatant cash grabs. No reason to even play either. It's not rewarding whatsoever. EAids should be charged with fraud for releasing this broken crap and charging $60+

Pass rush is non-existent with computers having 5 seconds or more to throw on most passes. Conversely the player QB with have errant throws to open receivers every 5th throw. Receivers that are touched at all in making the catch will drop balls. Computer defensive reaction time and ability to redirect is insane when they have their back to the ball. Players offensive line holds up for about 3 seconds, which is fine if it went both ways. Some much of it feels out of whack and it’s just not a whole lot of fun.… Expand

Pre-determined outcomes based on animations, freezes and lags during field goal kicking, copy and past game development from previous 2 years (even accidentally left Madden 19 banners in the game), there is a lack of user control of players, defensive backs catch better than WR's, glitches during trick play, the list goes on and on. It is almost as though EA didn't test their game before releasing it. Please do not buy. We need to boycott EA so that the NFL will drop them. We need competition from other game developers to have a good football game in the future. I will not be buying Madden until they lose their sole rights to make NFL games.… Expand

However literally anything you type as a name is considered profane. You cannot skip making an avatar and as a result cannot play the game. I contacted EA to which their response was "pick a different name. I told them multiple times that no name was working and they just repeatedly said pick a different name. EA is a disgusting excuse of a company that throves on stealing from the fanbase and releasing crap content year in and year out. They claim to spend hours and hours of time improving aspects of the game but somehow manage to produce a game that is not even playable. I truly think every single person at Electronic Arts on the Madden team deserves to be fired. This is pathetic and I hppe everyone at this crap hole of a company is seeing these kind of reviews. I'm surprised it takes a user to tell you that. I couldn't finish that drill with better than a bronze because I couldn't complete any of the moves (the way they wanted). Just that drill? Nope. Here is a throw-back from Madden 19 as well, game hanging randomly at some point during weekly training leaving you with restarting your console being the only option to resume.

    I will tell you one thing. I started buying Madden games every-other-year BECAUSE of this garbage. So I don't think I'm sticking around this time to see how this one ends. Keep up the good fight and put your money where your mouth is. Rather leave your money in your pocket where it belongs regarding this title!    … Expand

    Always get sucked sideways into animations that bull me in opposite direction I'm going and keep me from getting to the ball carrier. Controlled player rarely attempts to catch the ball when I press catch button. Hit stick only works half the time. Everything is delayed. I have to juke 5 to 10 yards before he actually attempts it. This is not even in multi-player mode. This game sucks

    I usually play fantasy draft leagues with my friends which is insanely fun however all you need is a decent running game and good pass rush and a fast linebacker and you’ll win every time. That is if your playing a real person. If you are playing the ai on the only playable difficulty, All Madden, you can’t juke **** or run over anyone. They never do anything risky like hit stick so you can hurdle juke or truck. They just conservative tackle you into oblivion. You get about 4 to 5 yards every play but often you can’t take risks either. If you even try to do a pass 20 yards down the field, on a man to man play mind you, the coverage will miraculously switch to zone and 3 other DBs will ride the Wide outs dick and pick the ball or force and incompletion.

    Due to all of this madden has become nothing but a heaping pile of stinky **** and the department of Ea who made this needs to be shut down and be sued for fraud. This game is a farce and no one should even think about buying it and if you do, don’t say this thread didn’t warn you.    … Expand

But I was certainly mistaken as Madden 21 did not fix the issues of running the ball until mid in its life-cycle. Madden 21 also introduced many glitches that either took a while to get patched, or never were patched at all; such as receivers randomly stopping in the middle of running a route leading to an interception, or the constant "through out of sack animation" that almost ended in an interception once the quarterback threw the ball. The blocking mechanics in this game is the worst in any football simulation game, and I would go as far to say that the Roblox version of Madden has better blocking, and sadly I am not joking. These issues I just mentioned are in almost every play of every game in Madden 21. Franchise mode got left to die, other than a few small features that were already in Maddens ten years before it. For these reasons Madden 21 has dethroned Madden 19 as the worst Madden of all time, and arguabley the worst mainstream licensed sports games of all time.… Expand

    Months after the game being released there are still many bugs. Some make certain modes unplayable. I spent a long time building up my favorite team in franchise mode just to get to the playoffs, play a game, destroy the other team, and then finish the game.     Given the sheer depth of the title, this Madden NFL 21 review could theoretically go on for another 1,000 words but there’s a good chance most readers already know whether or not they plan to invest in another season of tried and true NFL gameplay. Make no mistake, Madden NFL 21 is the best rendition of football this generation, and is A solid experience for anyone who takes the plunge — it just comes down to whether or not the new features warrant another purchase for regular fans.
