When Madden 15 first came out I kept hearing people complain and moan about it like usual when Madden comes out. In short this year’s game has a few flaws that totally kill it for me. The worst flaw being the opposing QB’s are insanely accurate. I do love some of the changes they made to the defense to attempt to make it more fun to play but it’s easily overshadowed by this flaw. The worst flaw being the opposing QB’s are insanely accurate. I do love some of the changes they made to the defense to attempt to make it more fun to play but it’s easily overshadowed by this flaw. The best experiment I did with this was doing a fantasy draft and just overloading the D and then siming a few years. My entire D was 95-99 overall. I went up against a Dolphins team that had a crap offense with the only two good player being Andy Dalton (94 ovr) and Jermicheal finley (91 ovr). The O-Line was in the low 80’s and all their offensive weapons were rated in the 70s (a few were in the 60’s but I never face them) I ended up injuring both Dalton and his backup Matt Moore (68 ovr) in the first half but they managed to have perfect accuracy. What really made me say I was done with this game was Mark Sanchez…. He had regressed to a paltry 60 (or maybe he grew?) but in the second half he was 29 for 30. I called different types of plays, zones, man, blitz etc but nothing can stop their accuracy.

In the end I played a few seasons and always had a winning record and won the Super Bowl thanks to the offense still being extremely easy to use despite having no super stars and always going for two to out power the CPU’s near perfect passing ability. I have owned every madden game since the late 90’s and I always played them thoroughly whether they had a good or bad year. I can honestly say I am thankful I only rented this game for seven days with me returning it on the 4th day. Apparently the store has had a lot of early returns for Madden 15 and they’re letting people grab a different game for the remaining rental time…..I want the ESPN football franchise back thanks to the turn EA has taken with Madden.

I can't wait until EA loses their NFL exclusivity deal. These games, THIS ONE in particular, are just so lazily thrown together. I buy a copy every few years just because I love football so much, but this time I can't even stand it. For every one thing they add, another is removed from the previous edition. I'll be trading it in to try and cut my losses. Not once have I ever been so disappointed with a game I bought around release as to want to trade it in the day after purchase.

It is the best looking Madden to date. That being said, it doesn't look mind-blowingly "next-gen" either. Some aspects like the field, helmets, faces and skin look amazing while the sidelines, stadiums, and some of the clothing on the coaches and fans look 8 years outdated. The sound is great when it doesn't glitch out occasionally so that you have to watch everything muted for a minute or two.

The gameplay is frustrating. Defensive backs STILL undercut nearly every ball you throw, have unnatural acceleration, and have total awareness of where the ball is at all times. As soon as your QB's arm goes into motion to throw to a WR, every single DB has already completely shifted their momentum and is heading for the ball. Deep balls are impossible unless there is blown coverage. In fact, if your WR doesn't have a good 4-5 yard lead on the defender, in any route, the defender WILL make up the ground and undercut your throw. Every. Single. Time. Running back AI is atrocious in modes where you don't control everyone. They'll run east and west along the first down marker when all they have to do is take one step forward for a 1st down. O-line STILL let's pass rushers through unmolested on most plays, so that quick slant throws are the only way to even have a chance. These are all things that were touted as "fixed" in previous editions.

The defensive gameplay is described as completely reworked, when in fact it's the same controls as previous years; but with on screen prompts to tell you when to disengage from blockers and make tackles. All this was already in previous games, you just had to look at the controls under the menu.
Create-a-team is gone. Superstar no longer involves the NFL Combine or getting drafted. You just pick who you want to play for and set up a generic background story to get assigned stats. They did improve the way you build XP and Confidence in between games, though. And you won't automatically start if you're not the best QB on the team, finally.

There are glitches throughout; some are funny like the Tiny Titan glitch, while most just ruin your game. Teams calling timeouts when they don't have any, causing the game to freeze until the playclock runs out and giving you a Delay of Game. Loading screens getting stuck. The screen blacking out but with the game still running until you reboot. Playbook categories getting misaligned and jumbled if you shuffle through them too much. The EA servers constantly boot you off and you can't reconnect without exiting the game completely. The list goes on. I've never seen so many glitches in a Madden game.
I've learned my lesson by paying full price for this game. Never again. I'll stick with bargain bin copies of older editions to get my football fix until either EA changes their development strategy or some other company puts out a licensed NFL game.

Do yourself a favor and grab the game from Redbox if you're still unsure. EA didn't make a demo this year, which after playing the full game, is no surprise.

I am a bit of a harsh person when it comes to games. I don't usually write reviews to games that I do not play a lot and tend to be blunt and straight forward. The biggest and most notable improvement is the defense. AI are quicker to react to the ball and will put their hands up while a ball is in the air while defending the receiver (took you long enough EA...) I am not an EA hater, I call it how it is. EA has screwed the pooch on the Madden series the last 6 years. this year, new animations, defensive abilities and passing difficulty make this Madden feel like something new. Passing is much more difficult in this game , a pocket presence is required to effectively pass the ball in Madden. You can now put the ball more accurately where you want it too, with high rated QB s of course. Throwing a ball over the head of a defender and into the running hands of the receiver is better than ever. The d-line and o-line still have some issues, but they work like real lineman should. The running game feels smooth and while the tackling animations may show some funk at times, it for the most part is new and fresh to see. There still is problems with receivers or DBs fighting for the jump ball, or when certain passing plays play out to the routes full extent, I have seen WRs just turn and stare at the QB waiting for something to happen for 3 seconds before running a new route. The commentary is the biggest letdown of the game, I hate it. Overused, lame same old different day plug and chug lines. the halftime show is a joke and should be skipped as fast as possible. some high pitched over hyped white guy saying things like "The running back, takes the ball to the house, for 6, putting the home team up, by 3" Like WTF EA???? The sidelines and fans still look like Madden 10, but that is me being picky. Career mode and Connected Franchise is basically the same, which is my biggest letdown next to commentary. It seems Madden is moving towards a more MUT oriented play experience, (I don't care for that) than giving offline players playability with career and Franchise mode. Overall, this is a nice transition into the next generation of games, however, if EA thinks that they can plug and chug the next game by adding a few tweaks, new music and another menu slide they are wrong, there needs to be another big leap into the next game. 7/10. Electronic Arts has destroyed innovation in football gaming by buying the exclusive NFL license. Other companies need to be given an opportunity to compete with Madden or else this game is going to continue to stifle simulation football development for years to come.

The main flaw and what will always be maddens flaw is the exclusivity of one company being allowed to make an NFL licensed game. While EA is a complete joke of a company when forced to compete in the past they would at least put a minimal effort into improvement and consistency.

I run two on-line leagues. These leagues are meant to represent actual NFL games. We refer to this as "SIM" football ie; you can't go for it on 4th and 35 from your own 2 yard line in the first quarter. Why do we make that rule? Because in madden the game is still chock full of exploits and glitches where "cheesers" (people who run only money plays and find every flaw in the game) can convert this impossible conversion 75% of the time.

The sliders and difficulty adjustments are worthless as always. Playing the CPU results in every QB being exactly the same. By default the will complete 100% of passes unless hit while throwing. Adjust QB throwing accuracy and all QB's become worse, not to different degrees either. Manning will only complete 75% by knocking the slider down 40. But so will Blaine Gabbert. Same with interceptions. All defensive players will get a pick based on canned animations not their ratings.

Now to the really awful things.

EA has had constant server issues. The ability to invite another player to play an on-line game can turn in to a 15 minute task. Their web site devoted to connected careers has been down too many times to count.

EA's solution? Ignore all these issues, but have an update to remove Ray Rice from the game ready to roll within 1 day of his video coming out. Political correctness issues to the front of the line. Technical and game play flaws.... they will get back to you.

All in all. Same old madden, same terrible flaws. Same half-assed effort by EA.

The Seahawks winning the Super Bowl was what we needed as players of this series to enjoy playing defense again. I really believe that EA is making leaps and bounds with this title. From the shading of coverages, to the protect the sticks feature, EA Tiburon is giving us everything we need to combat years and years of offensive installations/features into the series. This is the first year since the implementation of the hitstick that you genuinely notice defense impacting the game. Gone are the days of seeing only Seattle and San Francisco. While they will remain popular, the Cardinals, Patriots, and Panthers all boast interesting squads to add some unique flavor to your game this year besides seeing Lime Green vs. Scarlet Red every game.

Offensively, QB inaccuracy makes you FEEL your QB. Last year, Josh Johnson (back up QB for the Bengals) ran around slinging the pill like the next coming of Fran Tarkenton. This year, you notice weaknesses in every QB not named Brady/Manning/Rodgers/Brees. Those guys are electric in the pocket and rarely miss. Russell Wilson thrives in the pocket and on the run, but can be erratic at times. Kaepernick has taken a step back. Of course, via roster updates, this can (and will) change.

The pass rush is much more effective. Guys disengage with their blocker and get into high pursuit of the QB. Whether you are a manual rusher or let the CPU rush for you, the time in the pocket is a lot less than in the past, where you could literally stand in the pocket vs. a 4 man rush for 7-8 seconds and wait for coverage to break down (which required about 2-3 seconds at most in Madden 25).

Coverage in this year's game is much better. Zone coverage is much more aggressive and jump throws over the middle. Man coverage was overpowered last year (2 Man Under) but is toned down in Madden 15.

Overall, I'm very very pleased with the work that EA Dev Team put in on this title - it's a very large step in the right direction!

It’s especially the case with yearly release titles like Madden as we all wonder – is this version worth putting my previous version to bed or is it skip year?

This review isn’t for the hardcore, you buy every year without fail and nitpick it death. I get that, as I have my share of guaranteed must-buys. My words are for those like me who are football fans and video game players wanting to see if EA SPORTS can make those 2 worlds collide and offer something that feels, looks, and plays like what we watch on Fall Sundays but is also fun to play solo, with my buddy next to me, and possibly with others across the world. We want depth while at the same time not be bogged down by complicated controls. We want to see amazing catches, savage hits, and nail-biting endings but we also don’t want it to be too over-the-top nor feel like our actions on the field aren’t properly rewarded or penalized. If you can relate to those ideals then read on as this short review may prove helpful for your buying decision.

I’m going to make it real simple if you are on the fence….Madden 15 is “The One”. You know what I mean. Run, don’t walk – this is the version you need to have, there is no reason to wait for next year. The amount of love and detail that has been added to this version is nothing short of amazing. It looks absolutely beautiful on next gen consoles. The animations are smooth and full of variety. Defense is finally almost as much fun to play as offense. EA SPORTS has put together a package that has an overwhelming amount of depth while at the same time keeping menu navigation and gameplay controls easy enough for anyone to understand. One of my favorite new parts of the game is the training which provides a better understanding of not only how to play the game but also the chess match that is going on between offensive and defensive play-calling in real life. What you learn could fundamentally change the way you have been playing video football and also give you a new appreciation of the sport itself.

I haven’t played all the modes offered and likely never will get to them all. There are plenty of reviews out there that will go into particular details that you may want to investigate further. Others may focus on glitches but I’ve yet to find anything that is a buzzkill. What I have done is go “old school” and played my boys head-2-head on our sofa and we have had more fun in the past 5 days than we have had in the past 5 years of Madden releases. The NFL should be very proud to see their league brought to life so realistically in a video game.

Bottom line – Madden 15 is a gem. I’m going to stop writing because you need to stop reading and go get this game!

-The audio is very much improved from years past.
-Stadium sounds are NOTICEABLY better. Break off a big run and your fans will go wild. Playing away and get stuffed on third down, you can feel the stadium bearing down on you.
-More scanned faces adding to the realism of your favorite coaches and players.
-There has been a much needed balancing between offense and defense.
-The play calling screen has been revamped. Now showing previously called plays, success rates of plays, and how many yards averaged per play.
-The line play has been improved. Olineman block better and at the same time the Dline has new controls to combat the offense and better differentiate between finesse and power moves.

This game is simply fun. Have been playing a Connect Franchise mode with friends and haven't had any serious issues. Any issue I have had so far can be fixed in a patch.

While picking a play, the play selection is now vertical instead of horizontal. Players on defense can now jump the line, and also look at the quarterback from the defensive view (with the camera panned back). The kicking motion was changed and will take some time to get used to. Offensively the game has not changed, on defense that is another story. The players now have a highlighted cone before the player as a “tackle area” to which the defender has a radius they can tackle. Of course, if your back is turned while a receiver catches the ball, they will not have the cone because they are out of this area. This game is worth getting, especially because July is always a month where players anticipate NCAA football, Madden seems to take the reins that made NCAA different. Madden 16 should incorporate stadium noise, and NCAA will be quickly forgotten. Expand

This game is really good. For the first time in a long time, I was actually challenged by the AI. I like the new kicking aim mechanic, really helps for punting. Maybe in a game or two I'll be putting up 100 points like in previous maddens, but this game actually seems like a big jump in AI. I like the D-Line improvements.

I haven't played online yet. Last year I was like 5-0 or something online (allow me to brag for a moment), but the online play was so laggy, it was basically unplayable.. My undefeated record was basically dumb luck because it was so bad. I hope this years is better...

The biggest complaint I have is the menu system... It's horrible! I play almost exclusively Connected Career (franchise) mode. That mode requires a lot of menu navigation to build teams. I owned last years madden on xbox 360. Last year the menu transitions while navigating the menus was slow, the game would pause to load the next screen... I figured they were trying to do too much with an aging system. Unfortunately, the menus are as bad, if not worse, this year...

I think 8 out of 10 is a good score... The menus are a major dislike, and I'd like to knock it down a couple points because of it, but it's better than a 6... I'll split the difference and call it a 7.

EA Sports actually came through with a solid Madden game this year. The game-play feels smoother because of things like the new d-line controls, and the harder difficulties feel less game breaking than other previous versions of Madden. The player lock is great, especially on defense where you can break through the line for a crushing sack. Ultimate Team is good, but the Connected Franchise really puts the icing on the cake here. Connected Franchises grant you the ability to play as a player, coach, or owner. Also, the ability to play Connected Franchise online with friends makes an amazing experience. However the lack of depth in the career modes can become dull. If Madden 15 was able to do something similar to NBA 2K's my career; it would be incredible. Also the lack music in the game leaves you with the same repetitive theme song over and over. Expand

I purchase Madden every three years, this one is definitely better than 2011's version. However, I can see the frustration with the"Sam game" every year. Of course you could stop buying the game every year.

Graphics are good, sound is cool, game flow is good as well.

However, it's obviously just part of the MONEY GRAB that EA constantly runs now. Seriously?? You want people to pay real money, and at that upwards of $50-100 do get packs of fake cards to use in a game? Ridiculous. Stop supporting these fools. Don't buy this tack-on crap. The core game should automatically get you more people to use on your team, faster.

Madden NFL 15 is a competent addition to the long running series. My only complaint is that it doesn't add anything new and substantial to the formula. It feels very similar to its predecessor, Madden NFL 25.

So the last Madden I bought had Vince Young on the cover. Was never a big fan (full disclosure, I played the 2K series and love it), but needed something to play on my new system, I'm a huge NFL fan, and I assumed they just HAD to have improved the game in some way after all these years. So without anything further- AN HONEST REVIEW FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A RETURNING PLAYER AFTER 6 OR SO YEARS.

Simply disappointing... I really wanted to like this game, if only because I'm resigned to the fact I have no other choice. Animations are robotic, and still amazingly terrible in 2014! This is evidenced before you even start the game by any look at the "best screenshots" EA has selected from player submission for the loading screen. Seriously, it's a joke, especially when graphics have gotten to a point on the PREVIOUS generation of consoles to properly imitate human body movement. I can't remember the last time I looked at a videogame character in the last few years and thought, "that guy just doesn't look right when he moves" (contrast the movement with games like Dark Souls/Shadow of Mordor... then think about the budget EA throws at Madden EVERY YEAR).

In Madden 25, every CB now seems to play like Revis; forget constesting jump balls (ala Manning and his chuck and pray offense). But, for all the times your secondary is in the right position, the game so obviously compensates for this by giving them all stone hands (if it didn't you'd literally be throwing 5-8 picks a game as a beginner). Really takes away from the immersion when DB's literally drop 5-6 passes that land directly into your defensive player's hands a game.

But the game has improved physics now, right? What physics, your running back gets sucked into a tackle the second he rubs a defenisve lineman's elbow. I never expected a sports game to feel so UNLIKE the sport it purports to simulate. Unless you're playing an ideal defense for the run, expect to get 2-3 yard runs on most occasions, and stuffed/1 yard gains on obvious running plays. Game is quite undimensional, although I will say when you sacrifice yourself on a few run plays it does seem to open up the play action later in the game.

So, once again, this was a short Madden review from a player returning after some 6 years absent from the game. I don't know what EA was trying to do with this game, but it sure as hell wasn't football. As a "beginner", it just isn't fun, and it seems like EA has essentially just adjusted difficulty "sliders" to offset whatever exploits they wanted to take out of the game. Not good enough for my dollar again next year. And as sad as it is that we still can't have any sort of competition to make this game better, it's even worse that after 6 years to improve the series, I actually had more fun playing Madden 08.

A chance for a fresh start. That is what this game has put forward. The game is not God's gift to gaming, but it does everything that it needed to get right right. What gets this game an 8/10 is the extreme value that is lacking in NHL 15. Ultimate Team is fantastic and with the weekly free allstar, everyone feels competitive. The practice mode is great as always, season mode is great and this is an all around great package. I can recommend this game to ANY fan of football and people who want to get in on the action. If you are a new player, spend the extra 30 bucks on this game, rather than going for the now cheaper Madden 25. Try to pick it up in the Xbox One Madden 15 bundle like I did if you do not have a Xbox One yet. If they up the graphics a tiny bit to meet NHL's slandered, and fix a few gameplay bugs, we have a real contender for Sports game of the year and a possible 10/10. But for now I give Madden NFL 15 a solid 8/10! A good game in a Great package... don't f*** it up next year EA. I have my eyes on you... Great job this year though guys! :) Expand

When you play a sports game you play it with the knowledge that you will have control of the game. For what ever reason, EA thought it a better idea to make the game situational. Meaning, if the game isn't close, your players will drop balls, fumble, not go after a pass, etc. While the computer controlled team will go all star status until you're in a pinch. Basically garbage. In this game they seemed to really apply detail to human error, far from Madden 10 where you could rack up points so fast it was completely boring. Here they took player control, inserted whatever algorithm, and said ummmmm...no.

Hey Madden, we play you to be IN CONTROL, not to be told what can and can't happen by your lousy computer system. Oh and btw, Jake Locker, is not that good. That is all

Madden 15 is the worst game ever made on the face of this earth, I'f rather play Minecraft or Sims instead. This game sucks so much ass that you will average over 5 turnovers a game because it glitches like **** and is so unrealistic. Running is way to easy and field goals from a distance are a pain in the dick. Madden is so bad that pick are too easy and fumbles are too common.
