Space Shooter was developed by only two people to say the end results are quite impressive would be quite the understatement. Even though this game suffers with a few imperfections and there are better game’s out there for you to get to grips with it still manages to get more things right than it gets wrong and this ultimately means in the end M.A.C.E. Space Shooter is a good addition to the Shmup genre. The first thing I always look for in a game of this ilk is how the controls perform, and thankfully I’m pleased to say that the controls perform excellently, remaining tight and responsive throughout your time with the game. Another thing I look for is how challenging the gameplay is and whether it’s more frustrating than fun. If a game of this type is more frustrating than fun then I tend to lose interest quite quickly. Thankfully though M.A.C.E. Space Shooter has got the gameplay spot on and for me they’ve got the perfect balance of being fair and challenging at the same time. The gameplay is also fun as well but I would’ve liked the levels to have been on the shorter side because it can be quite fatiguing at times which means things can become a little bit tedious every now and then. I also would’ve liked the game to have had a faster pace to it because the slow-paced action can make the exciting nature of the game dwindle a little bit. Thankfully though I was easily able to look past this because defeating the enemies always remained satisfying. One of the main reasons why defeating the enemies remained satisfying is thanks to the different weapons you can use against them. Each weapon does something completely different and I really enjoyed switching between the different weapon types at a moments notice because it did give the game a bit of a unique side to it. The enemies you can use your different weapons on have been designed really well, but I think a little more variety placed into them would’ve made the enemies in the game even better. I especially would’ve liked this variety to have been placed in the bosses. Somewhere where the game doesn’t lack variety though is the presentation. Visually the game has a really detailed and colourful look to it and when you combine that with the awesome soundtrack that’s available to you it does make you enjoy the gameplay quite a bit more. At the end of the day if you like Shmup’s then you will definitely enjoy what M.A.C.E. Space Shooter has to offer. It’s got the most important aspects spot on and even though it has a few shortcomings here and there you quickly forget about them because technichally there isn’t anything that spoils your experience.… Expand
