Korgan is an ideal ARPG to get into the genre. It stands out for its good gameplay and has a multiplayer section, but the duration is too short.

Korgan is a throwback to another time of gaming, with its instantly addictive hack and slash dungeon crawling gameplay. The visuals and sounds are basic, but underneath is a beating heart with a very dependable bit of game design that warrants a play.

Korgan is a game that fails on many fronts. The lack of a story is definitely the biggest issue. The world you’re playing in feels empty and lifeless. The characters you’re controlling are forgettable to the extent that you don’t know anything about them other than their class and skills. The enemies are only bad because the game is telling you so, not because you’ve been given any reason to despise them.

Korgan has the look and feel of a mobile title, albeit with marginally better production value. However, the boring slow combat, poor controls, general lack of meaningful progression and terrible loot system, chases away the main joy that’s typically a standard for this genre. Indeed, the prologue is free to play and as such is open to all, but even that feels like too much to ask.

Korgan it's a little piece of digital fun. Easy to play and easy to navigate.

It feels like a dungeon-crawler rpg arcade game than anything else.

Its gameplay is highly addictive and leaves you wanting another attempt every time you die to get to the next mission.

From the moment I first saw Korgan I was interested and that’s mainly because it had the look of a dungeon-crawler that I’ve spent many hoursFrom the moment I first saw Korgan I was interested and that’s mainly because it had the look of a dungeon-crawler that I’ve spent many hours playing on over the years. Thankfully it got more right than it got wrong and despite its problems I enjoyed it quite a bit and I’m looking forward to see where the game goes in the coming months. This is a game that is episodic and I like that they give you the prologue free because you can really get a feel for it before paying for the first episode. The first episode is pretty good but I will say that I think it’s overpriced and in my opinion that will put quite a few people off, which is a shame. Throughout your time with the game it allows you to play as three different characters and I liked the variety each character had because it did keep things more interesting, which is important because the gameplay can get a bit samey. I think the main reason why the gameplay starts to become a little boring is because everything feels a little generic and it’s a case of been there seen it before. The combat though saved the gameplay because fighting the enemies in the game with the different characters hardly ever seemed to get dull. The main reason why it didn’t get dull is because each enemy has its own strengths and weaknesses and this variety means when the characters got into full flow and combined moves together I ended up having a lot of fun. Whilst the fun factor is quite high when you combine with the different characters I would however have liked the controls to have been a little smoother. Unfortunately the controls felt a little awkward some of the time and they didn’t always remain responsive, which did cause me a little bit of frustration especially when facing multiple enemies. Traversing on the game also felt a little finnicky as well, but thankfully I forgot about this quite quickly because the environments in the game had a lot of variety and extra little details strewn throughout. These extra details also make an impact in the presentation side of things, and I must admit that I enjoyed this aspect of the game. Don’t get me wrong there isn’t really anything special when it came to the presentation side of the game, but I thought everything had been done well here and I thought the visuals and sound design complemented the game’s style really well. At the end of the day as far as deungeon-crawlers go I think Korgan is a decent addition to the genre. Don’t get me wrong it’s definitely not the best game I’ve ever played in this genre and it does have a few shortcomings, but it’s a game that I found to be really enjoyable at times and I definitely recommend this game to fans of dungeon-crawlers.
