Apr 17, 2014Rare, what happened to you. Once you brought us gems like GoldenEye, Conker or Donkey Kong Country. And now? Now you bring us… This…

Apr 11, 2014As long as you don't start to play, the game seems to be fun, pretty and you can say to yourself that you're gonna spend some nights on it with your pals. But you will soon change your mind. Amongst the only six sports available, three are just good to go to the garbage because of the inaccuracy of the detection. And the others don't bring enough togetherness to be played for hours. At the end of the day, Kinect is far more enjoyable from your couch.

Hyper MagazineJun 7, 2014Alright, maybe it won't enslave humanity. But there's no good reason to buy and play Rivals. [Issue#249, p.60]

Apr 17, 2014Instead of making a case as to why you need a Kinect, Kinect Sports Rivals shows that the peripheral—and most games revolving around it—still have a long way to come.
-
Apr 9, 2014Out of the six sports, Kinect Sports Rivals proposes only two that can be amusing... The others feels cheap and fail when it comes to movement recognition. Not a great motion gaming experience at all.
-
Apr 9, 2014With problematic detection issues, questionable design choices, and an overwrought presentation, Kinect Sports Rivals fails to be the showcase for Kinect it should be. Xbox One's new camera may be next-generation, but you'll be hard-pressed to see that in Rivals.
-
Apr 7, 2014Kinect Sports Rivals feels cheap. A few of the multiplayer games – namely tennis and water racing – are fun in short bursts, but other games – bowling and target shooting – are duds, even with another person. The biggest challenge in gameplay is often hassling with the Kinect and, overall, the games themselves are insultingly simple.
-
Jul 4, 2014Kinect Sports Rivals answers the question “What has Rare been up to?”. Sadly, the game falls short of the mark on almost every category, with the biggest hit being on fun. With three of the six included events ranging from unpleasant to unplayable, you get dragged through dialogue I’d never, ever want to hear again.
