    If you enjoy gripping dramas, and don't mind sitting still for a bit, The Pillars of the Earth will reward your patience with the beginning of what appears to be a fascinating tale.

    Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth sets a fantastic tone, and does an admirable job of capturing the era, setting and the characters of this iconic piece of fiction. It’s a shame that at various points the game puts you off, whether through multiple loading screens, obtuse exploration, or a few other technical distractions. That being said, I can’t wait to see how Book Two unfolds, and can only hope Daedalic find a way for the gameplay to match the presentation.

    It kept my attention and kept me entertained throughout, which is saying a lot for a game with a plot that normally wouldn’t interest me in the slightest. If a period piece set in the 12th century is the sort of concept that does pique your curiosity, you’re in for an engaging adventure.
