There are a myriad crafting and survival games that are better designed and more refined than this and most of them cost less. It’s simply far too many GAME OVER‘s for my tastes.

You are stranded on a procedurally generated island, where you must survive and hopefully escape. The world is infinite, so you can gather some supplies, make a boat, and sail off. The Islands provide everything you need, you just have to find it, and figure everything out. There is no real direction, and the atmosphere is relaxing, but you can't really relax, as you have several aspects you have to keep full, like rest, and food. You can farm, and make a sustainable food source, and build shelter and protection. I can't tell if resources respawn, I didn't stay in one place long enough to know. The Islands will also provide everything you need to be dead. Death is permanent! Everything you do is done when you die, so be careful the spirits that roam the islands, the darkness is deadly. Torches and campfires need fule, and like all of your wellness statistics, drains fairly fast. There is no vertical camera control, this makes it impossible to actually survey your surroundings. Even from a vantage point, it's hard to take a look around. You'll be kept busy if you decide to embark on this journey, as Isle of Spirits is a constant hustle to balance inventory vs. needs and stay one step ahead of death. Full Review »
