    With its near-flawless design, Insane Robots is one of the best indie titles of this generation without a doubt.

    Insane Robots is an excellent card battler that doesn’t demand too much from the player. Perhaps its greatest achievement, however, is how it manages to blend together so many simple and fun ideas to produce a compelling and diverse experience. With its abundant loading screens to the side, Insane Robots provides a vibrant and energetic journey that never loses its focus or charm.

    Insane Robots is an amazing example of how to ease players into a genre without demanding too much of a learning curve, yet also being deep enough to satisfy the players that want to strategize at a much higher level. A bunch of smaller ideas come together to make a great experience, one you’d be insane to pass by.

    Insane Robots delivers almost everything that’s needed for a great single player game and so that’s the main reason to venture into this hacked world. Playniac have refined and simplified the card battling genre, without losing the strategic depth or enjoyment factor. It’s just a shame about the multiplayer offering.

    A refreshing absence of deck building and expansions puts the focus firmly on playing and having fun. Highly accessible gameplay hits a sweet spot where a parent could enjoy riotous duels with their children then move on to more intellectually stimulating gameplay after the kids have gone to bed. The game's greatest weakness is external, as the small player base limits opportunities for online play. It takes a while for the depth of the game to shine through, but it's worth putting in some time and effort to get there.

    Overall Insane Robots is a well presented, fun little card battler. Its simplicity makes it an ideal game to start with if you’re new to card games, and the difficulty curve is spot on meaning you’ll be continuously challenged until the end and beyond. Whilst a multiplayer mode is available, given the lack of player base, you should view this as a single player game. However, the story could have done with some more depth to make the game a true standout; in fact, I would happily waive the multiplayer aspect for some better lore.

    Every once in a while there’s a game that comes out which surprises you at every turn. Don’t get me wrong that doesn’t mean that I thought theEvery once in a while there’s a game that comes out which surprises you at every turn. Don’t get me wrong that doesn’t mean that I thought the game was going to be bad or anything like that but when it came to Insane Robots I didn’t think it would be as good as it is. I’m not a huge fan when it comes to card based game’s so for me to enjoy a game of this ilk as much as I did is a very impressive feat and in terms of card based game’s Insane Robots is probably the best I’ve ever played. One of the main reasons why I enjoyed this game more than other similar game’s is because it has a very easy to pick up and play style. It never gets too complicated and this meant that I had much more fun throughout my time with the game. The fun factor hardly ever dwindles as well which is great because in terms of content the game has quite a lot for you to be getting on with. The content also has a decent amount of variety which definitely keeps things fresh and interesting for longer and I can see this being a game I return back to time and time again. As you can tell then the game has a huge amount of replayability and the inclusion of an online component makes the game pretty much endless. Speaking about the online components I thought they worked extremely well and when the game fully releases I don’t think there will be many if any problems at all, which is great. The gameplay side of things also doesn’t feature any problems as well and that’s great because there are a number of different mechanics in play at the same and when it’s all said and done they combine together flawlessly creating a fun and very enjoyable experience. This fun and excitement lasts for a very long time as well and that’s mainly because no game ever plays out the same way due to there being lots of cards for you to use at any given time. As far as gripes go I only have one and that is that there are lots of loading screens to contend with, but this is a very small gripe and you get used to them in the end. The presentation side of the game is charming to say the least. Visually the game is packed to the brim with colour and the accompanying sound design works extremely well within the gameplay, which is great. At the end of the day as far as indie game’s go this is up there with some of the best I’ve ever played. It gets all of the important aspects spot on and in the end to say I had fun with Insane Robots would be a massive understatement.… Expand

    Spent a lot of time with this game for such a low review score. It was quite enjoyable but had very disturbing flaws.

    Pros:
    - General gameplay was fun and addicting

    Cons:
    - Probably should have been a mobile game
    - You have 8 tournaments and you build your character up with augments/ife. Then you finally make it to the 8th tourney and bam you play with these random robots. Well other robots you could be if you played through again. Basically they want you to beat Gannon with a wooden sword or grind all over again multiple times. Terrible.
    - I had no clue what "deck" probabilities were, what boosts are included what are my percentages?
    - No good Help section, listing of cards and boosts. Took awhile to figure out what two in a row did.
    - General randomness could be an issue mainly with the overworld and being placed away from shops    … Expand
