I hate this game...so much...it represents what is wrong with games nowadays, they make you buy all the good characters, buy all the credits (in game money), it has a bad story that does not make sense, and online just sucks, the online is a terrible fighting and ranking system. When in development, every creator that saw it and thought it was a good game are morons. This game presents itself to be a Worthy game. However it actually plays as a computer biased piece of s*** that forces you to play it's crappy story mode. All the while adjusting your stats based on how quickly you respond to a computer processed algorithm to screw with your stats. I recommend anyone who gives a single f*** about there stats to avoid this game forever.

The amount of DLC they throw at you every time Netherrealm makes a fighting game is getting really old. Getting prompted to spend money after dropping $60 is disgusting.

Let me preface this by saying that I account myself to be rather good at these fighting games. I have several Living Tower scores on MK X that are in the top 50 globally. I'm not a "super pro" and do not intend to aggrandize myself, but I have 20+ years of experience playing fighters and can hold my own, online and offline. I've made enough mistakes in these games to fill a book but have always fought with confidence.

Not quite sure which fighting game all of these 9 and 10 reviews are playing. Either that, or those people haven't played very much yet. Once you get past the pathetic (2 hour) Story mode, the ONLY content left is the Multiverse, which is little more than a poor adaptation of MK X's towers. Add an AI that is complete cheese, and you've got a game that bored me to death in 2 days.

Graphics are beautiful, no doubt. But technically speaking, there are some glaring flaws. First off, your special moves refuse to activate about one-third of the time, whilst your AI opponents repeatedly spam long combos and special moves with no trouble at all. This leads to frustrating fights that you lose because you either cannot avoid trouble, or simply cannot do moves with any regularity. Even on medium or medium-high difficulties, your AI opponents are seemingly unstoppable, while you fruitlessly attempt to survive using a terrible blocking system and ineffective, limited defensive abilities. The AI will easily block your moves and super move, then chew right through your blocks. Makes little sense; I could see it on higher settings, but not so early on.

The Gear system is an absolute mess, but boy they sure did hype it to death. Drops are complete RNG, often giving you the same pieces over and over, for characters you don't even use. I got pieces at level 3 that required the characters to be level 20 to use, so where's the worth in that? And honestly the stuff doesn't do much for you, just minor increases to stats that really don't affect the fights; even increasing your max health does almost nothing to abate the constant onslaught you face from overpowered AI opponents.

The Multiverse, which again is apparently the lone source of content, grows stale quickly. All you do is fight a set number of opponents, sometimes with modifiers, sometimes without, then are rewarded with useless Gear and a seemingly random amount of XP. Some review site was going on and on about the "hundreds of hours!" of fun the Multiverse could be, and I just had to laugh. It got dull in almost no time, especially with the wildly variant and often unfair AI. I just don't get it. With today's tech, being unable to competently use your moves is unforgivable, although now I wonder if that isn't an intentional "feature" designed to make the fights even more frustrating.

The lore and comic-book stuff here is great, don't get me wrong. And it is a gorgeous game. But as a fighter - you know, what's supposed to be its main feature - it falls flat when compared to many other titles.

My early impressions? ....Holy CLUNKFEST, Batman! From the menus to the gameplay, Injustice 2 is a total clusterf*ck. Dial-a-combos and projectile spamming are still in full force. It's almost as if the designers are telling you to "find the cheapest moves and setups, then spam yourself to victory". This is not fighting, this is high-tech dodgeball with wonky-ass animation. It's almost as if the designers are telling you to "find the cheapest moves and setups, then spam yourself to victory". This is not fighting, this is high-tech dodgeball with wonky-ass animation. Sorry, but I grew tired of this gameplay idea in 1997. I will elaborate much further in my full review... but Injustice 2 is clearly designed more to be "watched" than played. It's a movie, with a side fighting game attached. Sure, all the cinematics are pretty and all. Those facial animations are great. But yeah... too bad you don't fight with facial expressions. And too bad about the actual gameplay.

Injustice 2's gameplay is a minimal improvement over the prequels. While quite a few "MK-tastic" quirks make their return... new mechanics such as Evasive Rolls, Air Recoveries, and faster walking speeds make the gameplay system a tad smoother. Blockable environmental attacks are also a step in the right direction. Visually, Injustice 2 has sharp textures and detailed character models... but ironically, once again, the characters appear so "tiny" during gameplay that their details and customizations hardly matter. For comparison's sake, the size of an Injustice 2 character in gameplay is about the size of one leg of a TEKKEN 7 character. Even KOF14's characters and SFV's characters appear much larger and more impressive on screen. This is a huge visual flaw for a fighting game in my opinion, right along with the wonky animations. Not a fan.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good thing I watch YouTube. Spoiler Alert! Superman and Wonder Woman are the villains in this game! Thank God I never bought this game. Otherwise the LawWonder Agency would've called internal affairs on me. Don't buy this if you don't want your childhood ruined. Expand

Unbalanced. Normal mode doesn't feel like normal. Biased. So so story. Too many combos to remember. Have to execute a perfect move/combo in just .3 seconds. WASTE OF TIME.

The story has a lot more heart than any movie offering from the DC Comics stable. [Sept 2017, p.65]

The fights are fun and flashy, with nice depth for players willing to spend the time learning those nuances. But Injustice 2 also sets a very high bar for content variety in a way that opens up the game to people who might just be fans of DC's heroes and villains, too. If you're open to the idea of a fighting game, you're almost certain to find something worth liking.

Injustice 2 is a fantastic fighting game with great visuals that is a lot of fun to play casually but with enough depth to master. The new Multiverse mode will keep you playing for a long time while you build the perfect Batman.
