    Very good game overall. I like the weapon system . I had a bit of trouble sometimes with the battles but it was ok. I have finished the game so far in NG++ and i was not bored at all. I recomend it if you like souls games but a bit more forgiving if you balance your points correctly.

    Amazing shooting game its amazing and no its not a dark souls rip off. It is a hard shooter and you level like dark souls but it is awesome and i dont play dark souls anymore nioh and sekiro. Up there with sekiro buy it now 2021

    I am not sure what bugs did this have at launch, but I dont think it's a buggy game at all at its current state.
    Yes, it's a difficult game, but you really feel the learning curve working on your favour. It's fun and I like how it plays. I recommend this game, particularly if you're a Dark Souls    Immortal Unchained is a very interesting and playable souls.-like game with fire weapons.

    This is a game that could have been a 9 out of 10 or even a 10 out of 10 but because of a few terrible things make the game a 1 out of 10 at best. And the sad part is that if the developer, or those in charge there, had any videogame intelligence, they could have easily avoided it.     The gun action is actually quite fun. The leveling system is not too complex. Just the right mix. A good combination of action and management.
    The controls are not too bad but just wonky enough that trying to position yourself during a firefight, or trying to dodge to avoid gunfire can get frustrating. But its not a game breaker. The thing that makes this game a 1 out of 10 is those wonky attempts to maneuver cause you to take on extra damage when in battle. And when you get shot, it takes longer to recover from the shot than it does for the enemy to re-fire. So if you get hit...you're DONE.....and THEN.......you have to start way Way WAY back at the last checkpoint which can be very difficult to even find sometimes.
    The other thing that makes the game LITERALLY unplayable is that you very easily run completely out of ammo and there are virtually NO sources of new ammo. The only thing you can do is to run all the way back to the check point which saves your game and refills your ammo. But when you do that, all the enemies along the way respawn as well.

    So a game that I was psyched to play has turned out to be one of the most frustrating pieces of videogame crap ever made.
    AVOID this game at all costs. Not even worth it on deep discount. Not even worth it for achievement/trophy hunters.    … Expand

    I loved this game. I really enjoyed my time with it. I'm a fanboy of Dark Souls and always looking for the next great game in the genre. The Surge was pretty good and I would say it was the best alternative to Dark Souls out there. Until Immortal came out. This game is so fun! If you like ranged magic combat in Dark Souls, this game is for you big time.

    There are 3 downside to the game.
    1. The brutal one shot deaths you can get at times. (Wish you could have a chance to dodge easier or have it do less damage.)
    2. Assault Rifles and Sub Machine guns are super weak IMO. I ended up only using sniper rifles and Shotguns. Since you can be shot and lose large chunks of life, it's smart to take cover and pop single shots are enemies. When using the Assault Rifles and Sub Machine guns it's exposing you to much.
    3. The text for Monoliths and Idols disappear too fast. I had to speed read or take screenshots of them and read it in the screenshot so I didn't miss out on any of the readings.    … Expand

With the exception of the range, the guns are an enjoyable means to an end and pack a decent punch at close to mid-range. Unfortunately, even the sniper rifles lack much in terms of their effective distance (shooting too far away made me feel like the guns wereShotguns, assault rifles, pistols, SMGs, and pretty much any type of artillery you could ask for are present and in huge numbers. With the exception of the range, the guns are an enjoyable means to an end and pack a decent punch at close to mid-range. Unfortunately, even the sniper rifles lack much in terms of their effective distance (shooting too far away made me feel like the guns were loaded with crayons), often requiring the player to get closer than they would like. Knowing this, the assault rifles are likely going to be your default. Meticulous exploration will net you guns regularly (I had upwards of ten before completing the tutorial area), with random drops present, akin to the Borderlands franchise, and you'll likely never receive the same gun twice. Each of the weapons bring something different to the table, but can feel like situational options as the game handles them in a less than thrilling way deterring experimentation.

    At the onset of the game you'll have to create your character, utilizing a decent amount of customization options while selecting one of a wide range of classes that are more or less adept with certain types of guns. Initially, I went with the Marksman class, assuming that more range would suit my playstyle, allowing me to casually sit back and pick off enemies from a distance. I could not have been more wrong. The enemies you'll face will gladly take a few hits to the head and keep coming at you like a dimwitted school yard bully who's had too many steroid infused chicken nuggets. While you can interchange your arsenal with weapons geared toward the other classes, the game tends to drop items early into the game that are more pertinent to the class you choose. After struggling my way to the first boss encounter, dying plenty of times along the way, I came to the realization that my class may not be the best option and started over with a more rounded class. Much to my chagrin, the game only permits you to have one active character at a time, resulting in any progress should choose to sample one of the other classes to be lost. I found this limitation to be a huge disappointment as it discourages leaving your comfort zone.

    You'll spend the bulk of your time exploring the game world seeking out obelisks that function much like the campfire's from DS, with some pretty hardcore changes. You'll need to visit the obelisks often to save, change out your loadout (insert sad face), level up, refill your ammo or health potions (only the latter can be found in the game world), and in the event you die, these work as a respawn point. Unlike most games, you can't manipulate the save system to ease your way into the game world, as each and every time you leave a small room or area, the enemies will respawn in the exact same place, whether you die or not. Like the games that inspired it, death is not the end, but merely a small hurdle that you will face time and time again, with little consequence since your inventory and most of your progression is kept intact, sans your scrap.

    Scrap is used to do pretty much anything to your character within the game world - if you want to upgrade your character or gun, you'll need pretty crazy amounts of it - so much so that you'll often wonder if you are really making any progress at all. In the event you suffer a premature demise, you'll lose all of your scrap and be forced to either forfeit it or carefully backtrack to where you died to reacquire it. Dying en route will cause all of the previously stashed scrap to be lost completely, making the loss that much more disappointing. The static enemy placement makes this a bit more forgiving, albeit at the risk of repetition or boredom setting in, since you can easily change up your tactics on subsequent attempts with the knowledge of what you're up against being available. What doesn't work as well here is the ammo usage, due to the fact if you run out, you're out until you find another obelisk and will often have to backtrack, avoiding the same enemies time and time again just to refill it.

    Your ammo count is just as important, if not more so than your stamina or health bar. Offering meager amounts that feel more in line with a survival horror game such as The Evil Within or Silent Hill, each and every shot is important. Sadly, the aiming mechanics are a bit clunky and imprecise, essentially requiring the optional aim assist to be turned on to avoid wasting the precious commodity. Because of this, you will have to rely on the not so great melee attacks more than you rightfully should. Outside of the melee attack being sluggish and lacking any true feeling of power, the controls are passable.

    The reliance on the ranged combat brings something new to the table, while adding some new features that skew the difficulty here and there to make Immortal: Unchained feel new and accessible, yet retain the challenging gameplay the genre is known for.    … Expand

    I was very impressed with the weapon upgrade system because I could chop and change as much as I wanted and it meant that always felt in control of my destiny. The presentation side of the game may not be perfect I actually found both the visuals and sound design carried quite a lot of uniqueness within them. I loved the story in the game because the lore keeps you interested at all times and it combined with the gameplay very well as well. The controls are tight and responsive at all times and when in full flow I haven’t experienced any problems with the controls. The reloading mechanic gets on your nerves pretty quickly because it seems to take forever to reload. Some of the level design is pretty good there just isn’t enough in terms of variety dotted throughout the levels. I think the game is a little overpriced for what you get. Does Immortal: Unchained do enough to get a recommendation from me? I followed the progress of Immortal: Unchained for quite a while because any game that has a Dark Souls vibe going for it gets my interest almost immediately. This game however is far from being a Dark Souls clone and it does offer some unique takes in this overcrowded genre which ultimately made me want to return back to the game time and time again. The combat that’s present in the game feels very satisfying and I was pleased that the controls held up really well throughout my time with the game. I would however have I liked the reloading times to be a little less because it takes an age for you to reload your gun which can cause you a few problems every now and then. Thankfully though this is the only problem when it comes to the weapons in the game and that’s mainly because this game features a fantastic weapon upgrade system. On the whole then Immortal: Unchained pretty much reached my lofty expectations but I do think it’s a little bit overpriced. That being said fans of these types of game’s still have to give this game a try because it’s thoroughly enjoyable.… Expand

    Got it recently, Its an Interesting game, was pretty cool. will play more to discover more worlds.

    This has to be one of the more original Dark Souls-like games available, and anyone looking for a fresh take on the formula will be able to find enjoyment in Immortal: Unchained as long as they are willing to overlook a fair lack of polish.

    There's room for a direct-to-TV rip of the Dark Souls formula, but at a current asking price of $50, Immortal: Unchained is impossible to recommend.

    Dark Souls was so popular, not simply because of its daunting challenge and difficulty, but its balanced and fair gameplay once you learned from your mistakes. That doesn’t really exist here as prominently with the major change to ranged combat. Sure it has the difficulty, but it’s lacking the soul and fun for the most part. This immortal should have stayed chained.
