    The typical motivational loop of level exploration, dynamic action, death and character improvement works well. That is until it falls into the hole of redundant content that eventually catches up to almost all roguelikes.

    Immortal Redneck does a great job of blending dungeon crawling with a first-person shooter, but the game's lack of enemy variation and presentation issues make enjoying it difficult after awhile.

    Immortal Redneck is a good, lengthy game. With its outdated graphics to the side, the game holds its own and deserves a place up there with Serious Sam. Its fast-paced gameplay offers fun, hilarity, and comes with some truly crazy gimmicks. The biggest downside is that it becomes overly repetitive before long.

Immortal Redneck is a game that has in a way revived my interest in FPS’s and despite it having a few problems I enjoyed my time with the game immensely. The gunplay in the game feels awesome and trying out each different gun feels very satisfying, which is great. If you like frantic gameplay then you will absolutely adore this game, and even though I found it to be a little too frantic at times it didn’t really harm the fun factor much. Something that really impressed me with the gameplay is that they’ve got the perfect balance of being fun and challenging at the same time, and this without a doubt kept me coming back for more time and time again. The gameplay is also enhanced even further due to the amount of variety in terms of the environments and this meant I very rarely got bored when playing the game. The controls that are present in the game are very responsive, but I must admit that they felt a little too fiddly at times and that did cause me a few problems every now and then. I didn’t however suffer with any problems when facing the many enemies that are present in the game. The enemies are great and have tons of variety and I think they’ve missed a trick here because they could have made the story so much bigger and better on the base of this, but unfortunately the story that’s on offer is sorely lacking. The presentation side of the game is fantastic in my opinion. Visually the game can look stunning at times and has plenty of little details included, which is awesome. The sound design is also very good and I was especially impressed with the music that was present in the game. At the end of the day I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Immortal Redneck and the FPS action runs flawlessly most of the time which is a big plus, and whilst it has a few niggling problems you don’t notice these as much because everything else works very well. If you’re a fan of shooters then I thoroughly recommend you give Immortal Redneck a go and when it’s all said and done it gets a big thumbs up from me.… Full Review »
