As things stand, this is one of the better KEMCO releases of recent times, and if you are looking for a game to challenge you, and you’re a fan of turn based retro styled RPGs, look no further.

Illusion of L'Phalcia is a highly recommendable JRPG despite of it's many technical flaws. It's turn based combats will make sweat even the veterans, with a finely crafted hability system and a very compelling story that will keep you hooked till the end.

Illusion of L'Phalcia is a decent old-school RPG with a polished dated aesthetic. Unlike some of its peers, this is challenging and will test your tactical mindset.

Even with my complaints, I was sucked into the predictable story all the way to its credits, and is a decent way to spend a weekend if you’re looking for a serviceable classic RPG experience, even if it won’t be a memorable journey that you’ll think of afterwards and has a massive difficulty spike near the end.

Embracing the feel of Classic Turn based RPGs you dive into a story filled with a variety of fun and vibrant characters. Ryser and Cougar are on a journey to fulfill their wishes of Gold and Food by finding the legendary Sword of Amal, able to grant any wish it's given enough magic to grant. You pick up a team of like-minded (well mostly) individuals on the same quest to uncover this relic. With well animated, and powerful attacks, and a fairly straightforward equipment advancement, you battle your way through ever strengthening enemies. The most interesting mechanic is the Rune/Gem System. Each character has a grid based 'Rune' that can hold a variety of Gems that basically build your character's Class and grants them special abilities, like Health/Mana Regen or the ability to learn a certain style of Magic. These Gems come in all kinds of different shapes, making it sometimes difficult to put what you want together, so you must chose wisely how you build your characters. The game is voiced in Japanese, and subbed in English, which only adds to the JRGP, 'Ripped from an Anime' feel it captures so well. If you love classic Top down view, Turn based, RPG adventures this game is definitely for you! Expand
