Iconoclasts is a 16bit 2D Action Puzzle Metroidvania. Iconoclasts was made by a single person, taking seven years to complete! The game is an homage to the greatest of Metroidvania titles, but it also brings something fresh to the table, keeping you needing to know what's coming next. The story is surprisingly deep, even if the game's own jargon can step in the way from time to time. The animations are creamy smooth, and the controls reflect that feeling, granting pixel-perfect control. The cast of enemies is wild, with monstrous boss battles that will test your reflexes. This is not another copy and paste Metroidvania game, this is an obvious labor of love, and the Single creators' efforts are clear as the animations in the game. Along your journey, you encounter a great cast of characters, some of which will join you on your quest, adding a variety of moves and abilities to play with. Nothing ever got stale to me in Iconoclasts, each puzzle and world mechanic never overstaying it's welcome, and new challenges being presented regularly. Metroidvania and platforming fans need this title in their collection, as it stands toe to toe (and on) some of the best games of its genre. Expand

There’s a constant onslaught of Metroidvanias that seem to populate the store like rampant rabbits, so much so that it gets hard to decipher the quality from the scrap heap when searching through. Iconoclasts on Xbox One stands out from the rubble and manages to build itself into not only a great Metroidvania, but an amazing game with an identity of its own.
