HyperBrawl Tournament is a good little arcade game. It excels when playing with friends as solo it can get lonely, but you can still have some fun with it against the AI. The gameplay is refreshingly fast-paced, fun and enjoyable. It’s a shame then that it may fly under the radar of the crowd it needs to populate the online aspect.

HyperBrawl Tournament on Xbox One has some of the features required to make up a great game, but not enough to stand out. Its gameplay is fun and rewarding but it is also quite stiff, with some lazy AI. It’s nice that there are progression levels and customization but it doesn’t add much to the overall experience. There is also not a large enough variety of game modes and what there is gets boring very fast.

HyperBrawl Tournament is an online multiplayer, arcade-style, sports brawler featuring high-adrenaline PvP arena battles for 1-4 players. TheHyperBrawl Tournament is an online multiplayer, arcade-style, sports brawler featuring high-adrenaline PvP arena battles for 1-4 players. The universe’s greatest heroes have gathered to compete in a showdown for the ages; the legendary HyperBrawl Tournament! Armed with unique weapons and a thirst for glory. The concept of HyperBrawl is simple. Get the ball and put it in the net. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Pretty simple right? Well, not quite. Each player also has their own weapon and the ability to go into overdrive where they can knock out an opponent in one hit.
Each weapon has their own unique skill. The game has a lot for a competitive player to learn, both skill level which would include things like, passing, shooting and curving the ball, as well as meta related things, such as what weapons are the most used at the moment in competitive lobbies. Despite the 1v1 issues that I encountered in the game, I believe that this game can easily build a huge following and start having big tournaments in the near future if they keep the content relevant on the Xbox One.
