    Despite some occasionally poor bot behavior, there’s a lot to like about Hyper Jam. This is every bit as addictive as it is exciting, with accessibility and short-burst functionality serving as forefront aspects. The game’s fluid and fast-paced action sits well alongside the game’s unique perk stacking system, with each and every passing round becoming more tense and frenetic as a result. If you’re looking for a new arena brawler, this is one to consider.

    I enjoyed my time with Hyper Jam but I don’t see myself going back to it unless they add some new modes and weapons. The shallow unlock system and lack of weapons in particular really hurt the replay value. Once you clear out all of the achievements, which you can knock out in less than 3 hours, there’s little to return to unless you and your buddies are bored one night and want to punch each other until someone falls in front of a train.

    Hyper Jam may feel like it has been ripped straight from Blade Runner or Tron with its neon lights and synthwave sounds, but it also feels like they only ripped the bare minimum for the game. It functions well enough as a local and online multiplayer arena brawler but after only a couple of hours there was nothing left for me or my friends to do.

    Retro visuals combine extremely well with the sound design and this makes the gameplay even more enjoyable. I found the combat elements in theRetro visuals combine extremely well with the sound design and this makes the gameplay even more enjoyable. I found the combat elements in the game to be pretty decent and the fast action-packed pace means each battle is exciting and rewarding. While it can get repetitive quite quickly the perks and different weapons you can use do a good job of combating this because using each of these is fun. Each stage has a decent amount of variety present within them and I really enjoyed that there are no places to hide when in combat on these stages. The gameplay is very fun for the most part, butt it does lack in terms of depth which in turn makes it get repetitive quite quickly. I enjoyed the uniqueness of each of the character’s but in my opinion there isn’t enough of them. In terms of content the game doesn’t have a huge amount even with the added addition of local and online co-op. Fast-paced games are often very fun and exciting for the most part because they never give you much time to think and without a doubt Hyper Jam is cut from this cloth. The crux of this game then is to destroy your enemy no matter what and destroying your enemy always carries a very rewarding feeling with it. One of the main reasons why it feels very rewarding is because the combat elements are fast and fluid and using each different perk and weapon gives the gameplay an extra edge to it. The gameplay then is pretty fun and enjoyable when in full flow but I would still recommend that you play the game in short bursts though because there isn’t a great deal of depth to the gameplay which means it does get repetetive quite quickly. There also isn’t a huge amount of content for you to get to grips with as well and in my opinion this is a shame because the character’s it does have are unique and very enjoyable to try out. Thankfully these are the only real issues with this game because the presentation side of the game ticks all of the right boxes and there’s a decent amount of variety present in the different stages. Recommending Hyper Jam then is pretty easy because if played for short bursts you get a thrilling and action-packed experience that’s definitely worth your time and your friends and in my opinion you can do much worse than this game.… Expand
