  • Summary: Fallen into a giant old dungeon, unclear of your destiny, you have to descend deeper and deeper to a place where all screaming will be silenced.

Horror of the Deep on Xbox One provides a smattering of short gameplay that puts you in a strange dark world, refusing to hold your hand at any point. The sense of exploration, mystery and terror around every corner is served well here, and the game is good at taking you on a journey through an underground hell. It does unfortunately lack a solid story and any form of reason to why you are playing it.

Horror of The Deep is a horror survival, you play in 1st person view as you explore and solve puzzles moving deeper into the depths andHorror of The Deep is a horror survival, you play in 1st person view as you explore and solve puzzles moving deeper into the depths and uncovering the twisted creatures that lay ahead. With gameplay that will feel familiar to all fans of this style of game it does well to provide the feel of a horror survival game. Visually this game fails quite drastically. The enviroment looks well designed and good looking, at least what you can see of it, with so much being thrown into blackness it is hard to see anything at all and when a monster suddenly kills you, unfortunatly that's not where it ends, the game feels like it runs at a low FPS rate, and suffers framedrops to boot. I felt like an option to maybe add some brightness could have saved it here, the jet blacks was just too much and lost so much of what looked to be a very eye appealing enviroment and would have set a dark mood without so much blackness. Horror of The Deep offers a very simple control system, nothing fancy, just you, the run, the jump and interact button is all you have to survive and I like the game for it. Simple works. Overall: The game could have been so much better, it felt like a mobile game at times, however it does offer intense gameplay. The game does have potential however fell short in my opinion. I hope to see updates for this addressing some of the issues. If you like horror survival games give it a go. Expand
