If you can hack it, Horde of Plenty on Xbox One packs a challenging punch which will scratch an itch for some. However, it’s a simple experience that doesn’t really manage to deliver enough bang for your buck.

You play as Ron Mayhem, an Ironworker whos Best Bud Puffy, a Pufferfish, is mysteriously flushed down the toilet. After a cup of Joe, Ron descends into the underworld to bring back Puffy. With this riveting backstory, reminiscent of the original DOOM, you play a game nothing like DOOM. You are dropped into an up-scrolling world with droves of enemies. The game has Five difficulties and an online leaderboard. Beginner feels slow but still manages to challenge you. Easy difficulty isn't. The game is unforgiving and sends literally hordes of enemies at you even on this difficulty. Normal is tough, the enemies come at you endlessly. Hard lives up to its name, and shows you it doesn't play around. Once I turned the game to Wicked, I no longer had the skill to pass the first level. The crossing of Twin-Stick shooter and Shmup provides an intense and wild game experience. The music keeps with the mood, and there are enough tracks that nothing really felt like it was getting stale, instead, it kept you moving and driven. The controls are smooth and super responsive lending way to a very satisfying feel to the motion and aiming. If you enjoy a good Shmup or Twin-Stick Shooter Horde of Plenty is a game you should look into. Expand
