    Home Sweet Home is a guaranteed heart-stopper and gets a lot right with the tools that it uses. There’s the occasional issue to contend with, but the bottom line here is that this is a top survival horror title for the enthusiast of games such as Amnesia and Outlast, developed meticulously to relay the same style as that of the infamous P.T. It’s stunning, it’s intriguing, and it’s very, very scary.

    Despite its late-game woes though, Home Sweet Home is definitely worth a horror fan’s time. Its brand of horror is simple but effective, managing to build up tension and chill you to the core.

    Home Sweet Home is at its best when relying solely on atmosphere and sound design, much less so when the hero is pursued by an awkwardly animated being. Nonetheless, the second part of the game delivers a substantial fright factor, making it an excellent choice for a Halloween playthrough.

    The final sequence to the game is quite interesting, but so very cryptic with the way it all ends up. If the next episode(s) of the game can fill us in more on what is going on and add more depth to the characters, this game series could have a good amount of potential, but as a standalone game, Home Sweet Home feels too incomplete to rank high among many other indie horror titles.

    Home Sweet Home is an otherwise effectively scary horror game that is betrayed by some unfortunate bugs. One in particular stopped the game short with ten minutes of plot wrap-up remaining, preventing the full game from being seen. On top of that, even the game's best scares can get hindered by enemy AI that misbehaves by running into walls or getting stuck on loops that demand you hit reset. When it's all working, Home Sweet Home shows a lot of promise, but there are a few too many unintentional scares by way of the game's flaws to recommend it to most horror fans right now.

    Home Sweet Home is a game that lacks the direction and polish that it needed. The various locations that the game has to offer really bring on the horror feeling, but once the broken AI rears its ugly head, it just takes the horror appeal away completely.

    Play length and difficulty were about right for the price. Took me about 8 hours to go through the whole thing, though I'm not a great gamer lol.    … Expand

    Home Sweet Home is an around 4 and a half hour long first person survival horror game where you play as Tim in search of his wife who has disappeared..
    And this game is creepy and unsettling from start to finish…
    This game is very similar to the likes of outlast…
    youll be walking around different areas trying to find items to progress through the game, but you’re defenseless... you have a flashlight... thankfully one with infinite battery… so no battery collecting here.. but while you’re searching for items, you’ll occasionally run into this monster out here sounding like rose at the end of titanic… crying for someone to come back.. and if she spots you she will chase after you and kill you, taking you back to the previous checkpoint…you are able to run from her and hide in corners or in lockers until she leaves… and these moments are so tense and make otherwise unscarry moments feel terrifying.. so many scares, and not just cheap jumpscares… you actually feel you have to be careful when you hear or see her… keeping you on your toes throughout the entire game… and thankfully this game is paced perfectly sortve like the first outlast… it isn’t constant dealing with enemies.. Dealing with her and other is spaced out, I feel perfectly…
    stopping the game from feeling like a chore and keeping it feeling fresh and unpredictable…
    and rooms are constantly changing up... the scenery changes at a nice pace as well…
    the final chunk of the game though is where I feel things start to fall apart.. Too many repeat areas... and the game sequel baits…
    home sweet home is a part one game and its annoying…
    I felt no pay off other than an explanation for the monster chasing you around as you search for your wife…
    This game however is definitely one of the better horror games I’ve played, and one of my favorites for the year and is worth dipping your toes into…
    it also now supports vr and psvr.. however I wasn’t able to test this out

    The presentation side of the game has been done extremely well because both the visuals and sound design create a scary and thrillingThe presentation side of the game has been done extremely well because both the visuals and sound design create a scary and thrilling atmosphere from start to finish. I really enjoyed the story that was present in the game because it kept me interested throughout and there were a few surprises thrown in as well. Each puzzle in the game has a lot of creativity within them and some of them really challenge you which makes completing them feel very rewarding. The stealth elements in the game fit the game’s style really well and they combine with the story creating even more of a tense experience. Technically the game doesn’t throw many problems your way and on the whole it performed well throughout my time with the game. It can get quite frustrating after a while because I ended up dying a lot at certain parts and replaying the level from the start did get annoying. The AI isn’t very realistic in the game and this does harm the immersion levels a little bit every now and then. Overall if you’re one of those people who loves nothing more than being scared half to death then you’ll be pleased to know that another game of that calibre has made its way to the Xbox One. That said game is known as Home Sweet Home and to say it made me jump a number of times would be quite the understatement. From the moment you start the game you get a great sense of fear and dread thanks to the game’s fantastic eerie visuals and sound design. If that wasn’t enough you also get a strange and scary story that hooks you right from the get go and there’s also a number of stealth elements thrown in for good measure as well. These stealth elements have been done well but they’re also frustrating as well because you will die a lot along the way. Thankfully though I didn’t get too frustrated and I’m glad I didn’t because the game throws up quite a lot of interesting and in some ways unique puzzles. In the end then Home Sweet Home does what it sets out to do perfectly and that is to scare you senseless whilst also creating an immersive experience and when it’s all said and done it’s a very good addition to the horror genre.… Expand
