Being an absolute cosmic horror fan is the only possible reason to spent your time on Hollow.

Hollow is such an ironically befitting title. This game is empty, dull, and devoid of any quality on any level. Further to that, the game is chock-full of bugs, lazy design choices, and technical drawbacks. Whilst not broken to the point of being unplayable, it’s certainly broken to the point of being a lot more frustrating than it’s worth. It’s truly a hot mess. If you’re looking for a solid space horror, stick to Dead Space or Alien Isolation.

Let's start with the most important points regarding the Xbox Series S version:
    - The "Quick Resume" function does not work.
    - From localization only English, although 10 languages are available in the Steam version.

Now about the game in particular - a very bad horror about space from the first person. The plot and setting are very similar to "Dead Space". It wouldn't be a bad thing if it wasn't a FULL carbon copy of the first DS, right down to the cover of the game preview in the store. The game barely works, I had to restart the level a couple of times to pass it because the bugs were critical for passing. The soundtrack of the game is so-so, the character models of the game are also at a low level, as well as all the dialogues and the plot in general, which is very secondary and almost completely copies the DS.

You can praise the game for the interesting design of the ship itself and the various cabins, but the game itself is too short to fully enjoy them. There were a couple of simple puzzles in the game and one impossible one without going through YouTube (because the numbers were not displayed due to terrible lighting in the game itself, because the optimization is very bad), battles with enemies range from very easy to unusually long (with giants), but extremely not needed, because these giants are easier to bypass, they cannot actually harm you, except for one, which, if you do not kill, you will not go further.

In general, the impressions are very bad. The game is short, but the experience was extremely negative because almost everything in the game is poorly done. I do not recommend it. Glory to Ukraine!

Hollow was a disappointing experience. The only thing the game gets right is the atmosphere, but simple linear gameplay and rough melee combatHollow was a disappointing experience. The only thing the game gets right is the atmosphere, but simple linear gameplay and rough melee combat really drag this game down. There are so many great horror hiding/survival games available, give this a pass and try one of them. Expand

Hollow does a good job of making you feel completely helpless because there's never enough ammo and having to preserve ammo does keep youHollow does a good job of making you feel completely helpless because there's never enough ammo and having to preserve ammo does keep you feeling tense. Over the years there’s been some classic games that have featured a space setting but Hollow, a new release on the Xbox One family of consoles isn’t up to par with the others. The presentation side of the game does a good job of creating a tense atmosphere but after that all that you’re left with is technically messy game and no matter where you turn there always seems to be a bug or a technical issue in your way rather than gameplay. These issues wouldn’t be as bad if the game featured solid gameplay but unfortunately it doesn’t, because there’s a complete lack of depth in the Hollow overall leaving it feel well hollow. Traveling back and forth doesn’t help matters either because you move very slow and in the end this mechanic just makes you become even more frustrated with the gameplay. The combat elements aren't much better either and while the enemies are ok you’ll never find defeating them to be satisfying, because they are either far too easy or far too hard to defeat. In terms of content the game doesn’t have much at all which is probably a blessing because the content it does have is slow paced and boring. The story is also uninteresting as well and not once did I find myself fully invested in the game because it fails to grip you in so many different ways. Hollow is unfortunately a game that I recommend you pass on because it just gets so much wrong. It doesn’t get much right either for that matter, and in the end all this game manages to deliver to you is a technical issues filled with lots of boring gameplay. The game should not have been released in its current state and should have spent more time in development in my opinion it has the potential to be a good game somewhere that got lost in in the process.
