I'll start with everything wrong with this game. Because there is a lot wrong. It's an always online game even though it is single player. And the severs are often down so you cannot play the game. They just released yet another big patch (a 13.6GB patch) which adds offline play, but it isn't fully offline play. It's an always online game even though it is single player. And the severs are often down so you cannot play the game. They just released yet another big patch (a 13.6GB patch) which adds offline play, but it isn't fully offline play. The patch allows you to use weapons etc you have unlocked offline, but you still have to be connected online to get the unloackables. You also have to be connected online to access your game saves. It's ludicrous idea. Just make the whole thing offline. Save the online for live contracts and leave story mode offline as it should be. This game has a lot of big patches. 7GB patch here, a 13.6GB patch there. And they say there are more major patches to come in December. You cannot really choose weapons at the start of each level. You have a select few and have to unlock others. But unlocking them will take many, many replays. Some levels you aren't allowed any weapons and have to make use of what is in the game world. This ruins a level and makes replayability limited. I hate that idea. That idea is part of what made 2012's Hitman Absolution so bad. Don't take options away from Hitman, add and allow more options to add replay value. There are only 6 levels and i only found 2 of them good. Paris and Sapienza. They do attamept to recapture old Hitmans like 2006's beloved Hitman Blood Money. And they do succeed in some ways, but mostly fail. I could tell some of the levels i didn't like, like Thailand and Hakaido really try to hard to replicate Hitman Blood Money on a bigger scale. And i really wanted to like them. The maps are fine and give you a nostaligic feel of Hitman Blood Money, but the way the levels are designed simply isn't good or well planned. For example. Some targets will only walk around the same small part of a huge map, which makes the huge map feel a bit pointless. And they will walk around small but heavily populated areas which makes it hard to assassinate them. And to top it off targets are constantly followed around closely by bodygaurds. This makes assassinating them more of a chore than fun like in previous Hitman games. The episodic release was simply all kinds of wrong. Just give me a finished campaign game, no internet connection required, and leave me alone to play it. Realeasing episodic means you get 1 level that you can complete and get the jist of in a hour, then have to wait 3 months for another one. By that time you have moved on. And if you do return you have forgotten the controls and have to re-familiarize yourself with them everytime they release a new level. The fans have been saying way before 2012's Hitman Absolution. Just give us 12 to 15 Blood Money type levels on a disc and that's it. They failed to do that with Absolution, that wasn't even a Hitman game. Then this Hitman releases in bits and only has 6 levels. It makes early adopters feel like they have paid to be guinea pigs. What they do get right is big levels. Most of these levels are huge. Just a shame they aren't used properly. The graphics are good enough. Not the best looking game out there and not the worst. Just passable. Like a slightly prettier Hitman Absolution. Sound is ok. Jesper Kyd is sorely missed. You will also hear conversations repeated over and over while your waiting for your target to get into a place so you can assassinate them. And no matter where you are in the world the accents are mostly American, British and a couple of Australians. It takes away from the immersion. When your in Paris at a Paris fashion show, you expect some French accents in there. But it's mostly American. The American accents are annoying. I quite liked the British ones though. They seem to fit in quite nicely most of the time and are more plausable because of the British Empire. A few Thai people in Thailand with a British accent for example is very plausable. Or a few British accents at a Paris fashion show is also plausable as Britain is just across the pond and London is one of the big fashion capitals. But filling up every level with American accents just doesn't work. There is a bit of a story here and it's quite good. It's just short and incomplete as there are only 6 levels and this is only season 1. Another annoying thing is when playing the story. After you complete a level and watch a cutscene you can't simply continue on to the next. You have to go back to the main menu, find and re-select story to continue the story/campaign. There is no sniper briefcase either. You have to walk around with the sniper rifle visibly stuck to your back which alerts everyone unless you are disguised as badguy/guard. So it is pointless having it. And you have to unlock it and workout how to unlock it. There is a lot going on with this new Hitman and a couple of levels like Paris and Sapienza work quite well. The potential was there with other levels, the maps are great and huge, just poorly used. Expand

only 6 missions and chopped up in tidbits here and there. Also purchased the game new at launch, but no longer have access to single player campaign unless I rebuy "game of the year" addition. So I can freeplay all 6 missions but cant play the cinematic storyline unless I shell out another $50?! what a lame business model! *deleted off hard drive* *avoiding any and all future games ofonly 6 missions and chopped up in tidbits here and there. The story is great but it’s not as rich as other games.

Consistently brilliant - the best Hitman game, and one of the best games of the year. [Jan 2017, p.84]
