As someone wholly unfamiliar with Handball it’s perhaps expected that I might not quite get it, but despite a good few modes and teams to play with I can’t shake the feeling that even fans of the sport might come away underwhelmed with Handball 21 thanks to it’s stuttery, simplistic gameplay and lack of visual sheen.

Handball 21 is a title whose discipline is not really that popular compared to others and, much like the previous games, it will delight fans of the world of handball, but will be crude and difficult for those unfamiliar with this impressive sport.

Just put down the ball and walk away from Handball 21; unless you’re super curious, then possibly grab it at a sale price.

Handball 21 once again returns after a long hiatus and recreates the awesome Sport of Handball. A sport I played growing up along with myHandball 21 once again returns after a long hiatus and recreates the awesome Sport of Handball. A sport I played growing up along with my beginnngs in raquette ball. The character design, arenas, animations, and oberall immersion are spot on and Handball 21 is defintely pleasing to the eye. A good match full of action can be very rewarding and ultimately the Handball 21 experience is even stronger and many gamers who enjoy the likes of NBA2k for example will feel at home and oddly find themselves enjoying the game much more than they would have expected. Much of what Handball 21 does is spectacular but the game does suffer some from animation issues which some are unbelievably poor, but hopefully we do see the patch soon to address this. These issues are attention grabbers and afect the immersion in what is otherwise a fantastic comeback for the franchise I had thought was never coming back to the Xbox. In addition the game having issues (I did review on a pre release press copy so dome of the issues may have already been addressed in regards to the awkward animations. For the most part the game is very stable and runs well. The unique control systems and the lack of tutorials will make many new players feel confused at first, trial and error and learning how to play the game if your unfamiliar with the sport in general. The league is basic plug and play and a good way to learn the ropes of Handnall. The single player career is more involved adding a lot to replayability with three divisions to tackle. Handball 21 is trying too engage like FIFA with their Booster Packs, a feature I dislike in FIFA but at least here it falls in game and not tackling you with microtransactions. I have really enjoyed the experience and I am confident all of the animations will be worked out, it is nice to see Handballl return after 3-4 year hiatus and again if you enjoy sports games HAndball 21 is defintely worth putting your hands on.
