    Somewhat fun, but ruined with micro transactions needed to upgrade weapons, around $2-3 per weapon. I never played this game on a windows mobile device, so I was unaware. And there's no mention of this on Xbox Live before you purchase this game, there's no demo and there's no refunds. The levels are too short and the aiming leaves a lot to be desired.     Decent twin stick shooting but the graphics are sub par and levels are wayyyyy too short. Feels like the Halo universe was forced into an existing game. Not bad but should have been a bit less expensive for what it actually is. Not terrible but not on the top of my list...

    Halo: Spartan Assault is a fun game to play. However, that is about all that is good about it. The gameplay is clunky, and the lack of checkpoints makes the game more unforgiving. These issues aside, the game is fun to play in short bursts.

    This is a game that lacks enough variety to justify the £12.99 I paid for it (prior to Games with Gold). It is still a fun game that is good enough when played 15 minutes at a time but I feel that there is nothing about it that really makes it great, but get it while it's free and you'll probably enjoy yourself.

    Halo: Spartan Assault for Xbox One is a good game but no great game so just keep this in mind if you're overly optimistic towards fresh games. From a graphics standpoint; it's gorgeously molded into form, albeit not too graphically demanding as it is a top-down TPS but still beautiful...

    Overall, the pros outnumber the cons (yes, there are a few cons) and in my honest opinion, Halo: Spartan Assault is deserving of a higher Meta/User score. Possibly most consumers rushed out and purchased Spartan Assault simply because of the 'Halo' at the start of the name and did not research how the game plays prior to the obtaining.     A decent game considering it is a port of what originally launched as a cell phone game. As a free game I can't complain but can say that this game isn't worth paying more than a dollar or two for. Feels like a retro arcade 'Gaultlet' style game but with Halo graphics slapped on it. The fact that nothing new was really added in the port, other than a few levels or co-op online play, isA decent game considering it is a port of what originally launched as a cell phone game.     From a control standpoint, this game has significant better flow to using a traditional controller versus that of a KB+M. The level design is varied enough, however I find that the levels are too short and load-outs are too limited. I may not have been satisfied with the game the whole way through, but I felt like I got most of my money's worth.

    Incredibe game. Awesome art style, amazing original soundtrack and addictive missions. This game deserves to be played. It ensures you tones of fun and entertainment.

    This game does little to differentiate itself from the Mobile/Tablet version, but it is still a simple, yet fun game. If you are looking for a fun arcade top down shooter than you could do a lot worse. It would get a higher score from me if the Co-Op was better utilized, there could be some serious fun with this type of Halo game being a solid Co-Op game.     When 343 Insudstries took over the Halo series, it officially died. Bungie is the only developer that can really do the Halo games justice. I will stand by this fact until the day I die. This game might be good for smart phones, but it does not belong on consoles. Think of that one Warhammer 40k top-down shooter with a Halo paint job and there you go.     The game is short and looks terrible. The game is not worth the money at all. 343 ruined the Halo series. Just buy bungie's Destiny. Do not buy this game.

    I got this game as my friend asked me to join him in Co-op. At first I found it just a basic dual analog shooter and thought I wouldn't enjoy it much, but after 2 hours or so I was hooked. I can not put it down.

    The game is great fun in co-op (but I would have liked to seen more maps) and offline story is alot longer than I would expect and its a very enjoyable xp grind game.

    This feels like something I should have downloaded on my iPhone while taking a dump. It's just that terrible. The worst part is not being able to aim in more than eight directions when the enemy comes from 360 directions. Honestly, If this game was a free app for my phone I would be more forgiving, but they actually charged money for the POS.     Very basic top looking down 3rd person shooter. Very reminiscent of some maps of Contra on NES. Even though this is set in the Halo universe, in my opinion, it does not feel like Halo at all. The levels are simplistic. The graphics are good, but it just doesn't feel quite right to me. I have had to force myself to play it even though I love Halo and Halo Wars.     Very bad game, definitely felt like a tablet game on a console. All the levels are very short and only about 5 missions per segment. What's worse is that it was even a bad tablet game. Only thing I kinda liked about it was the co-op flood missions. Would suggest avoiding it

    -1 point for Micro-Transactions. The game isn't F2P, so they should not be trying to charge you to upgrade or buy weapons for a one time use.

    -1 point for clunky controls. They should have had an aiming mechanic similar to Alien Swarm, which is FREE on Steam. -1 point for short missions. As a top down shooter, the gameplay is simple and straightforward, but that is what one should expect from such a title.     This is a mobile game not a next gen game so MS make a real game for the next gen not a rebuild tablets game and the gameplay was bad its dos steel feel like a tablets game

    Hello hello is a copy very clumsy and slow in the unreal Tournament that is why I think it is so bad and what seems to me to be the worst thing is that they continue to draw the truth this game is for people novice with very little experience and does not know the good games i recommend not playing it.

    Very fun game. I owned the title on Win8 also but the addition of co-op makes it a definite purchase. Would love to see a sequel with more coop and perhaps competitive multiplayer!

This is bizarre: this is a well-produced game and the art is fantastic, how did it fail so badly on multiplayer? I get the feeling the network programmers quit. (2) In-game purchases HIDEOUSLY OFFENSIVE, especially when you just paid for the game andI bought this game to play co-op. I was fooled.     Perfect, a Halo release just in time for Christmas, and on the Xbox one! I love Halo but I was a bit skeptical about a non-fps title in the franchise, however as it turns out Spartan Assault is a great new direction for the Halo franchise and a title well deserving of the Halo name! Must buy!

    After porting over from Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, Halo: Spartan Assault comes off pretty well. The pull for me was that I had already purchased in on Windows 8, yet hadn't played more than a few levels. Because I had already owned it I used my Xbox Live Gamertag, which is my Microsoft Account, and was able to nab this for $4.99 on Xbox Live. At that price, it's an easy buy sinceAfter porting over from Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, Halo: Spartan Assault comes off pretty well. The pull for me was that I had already purchased in on Windows 8, yet hadn't played more than a few levels. Because I had already owned it I used my Xbox Live Gamertag, which is my Microsoft Account, and was able to nab this for $4.99 on Xbox Live. At that price, it's an easy buy since you not only get the original game but the mini expansion and some co-op play. The game is also scaled up to 1080p so it maintains the sharp look that it had on mobile devices with significantly smaller screens than mine. After a couple hours into it, I like Spartan Assault... but I don't love it. It has the look, feel, and sound of Halo, but because of its somewhat choppy narrative, it doesn't have the depth of Halo. That's the key for me. But what this does prove, again, is that Halo is capable of leapfrogging genres and still maintaining a higher standard. It's not a waste of time or money, it's just more of a "for the fans" kind of game with a mild appeal to other gamers not entrenched in this incredible universe.     Short levels, the micro transactions for weapons is ridiculous and the load outs are incredibly limited. Overall its pretty enjoyable but doesn't hold your attention very long.

    What is this game, why is it on Xbox one? I was told it had a retro feel...the stick and hoop game is retro, and about a hundred times more fun. This is just a pile of garbage. Actually it would be more fun to have pile of garbage, maybe I could find a used can.

    I got this for £2.60 on xbox live offer so I can't feel too pi**ed but in terms of game this is pants, but in terms of just something to pass half hour yeah it's ok

    There is nothing specifically wrong with this came, it was nice to play but overall it does not feel like a full game. Local co-op is missing which would have gives extra hours to the lifecycle. Also the given multiplayer is just quick add-on.

    The game that ruined the perfection of the Halo saga. Spartan Assault has poor graphics, poor gameplay and very little variety. other than that the game takes a break. Just terrible.

    It is a top down shooter with a true Halo feel. If you have it on a Microsoft phone or tablet they cross save automatically which is sweet. I think that for what it is ( a top down shooter) it's not bad at all. Don't expect anything amazing as far as story or cinematics but if you like top down shooters it is worth a pick up especially on sale or if you already own it on a Windows device.

All the sounds effects are spot on, the music, the menus, skull modifiers, the look of everything, etc. However this is obviously nowhere near a real Halo game.

    The game is extremely short. Has 30 missions at about 5 minutes each. Solo campaign is also extremely easy. You'll only might get a challenge on the coop missions which are actually pretty fun and have tons of Flood thrown at you.

    As stated by most people it does have micro transactions which definitely are appalling to see, however as stated by one lone other user, these are never, ever necessary at all. You don't ever have to buy anything at all, BUT if you definitely want to, you can still buy everything with in-game currency that you earn by just playing.

    So again, it's just a cute little casual, short game which had some appeal to me just for being Halo themed. Seeing Halo in another genre, as Halo Wars, was again an interesting diversion. I think at 15 dollars it is WAY overpriced, though, and I'm sure I would have never bothered with it AT ALL if it was not Halo related.

    This is a fun quick twin shooting distraction nothing more nothing less not really a full "HALO" experience but close enough,now bring on Halo 5! The negatives its too short and it crashes alot for no reason. And the graphics dont really scream next gen but it is enjoyable.

    For free with Gold, this game is a fun, good looking overhead shooter with a nice Halo twist. It doesn't do the halo series justice, but it is solid for free. The controls, guns, and enemies are pretty average. The setting and music set barely over the bar of mediocrity. I wouldn't pay much for this game, but it's definitely worth well over $0 if you have Gold this June.

Similar to Dead Ops Arcade in Call of Duty Black Ops, Spartan Assault provides a few hours of fun for those looking to cure a Halo fix. The game looks and sounds like a Halo game with controls that take a few missions to master. For the completionist out there, every mission provides bronze, silver and gold ratings based on your performance which can provide added hours for those looking to max everything out.     Les graphismes sont mignons, c'est bien présenté... hélas il ne s'agit que d'un Diablol dans le monde d'Halo : très répétitif et jouabilité au pad à revoir. A la limite, ç'aurait pu servir de base à un STR, un petite suite d'Halo Wars mais malheureusement on a juste un truc aussi débile que limité.

    Well, this was originally a mobile phone game, so we cannot ask for more. It is fun, and the micro transactions is not needed to beat the game

    I think this game is criminally underrated. It's pure action in the Halo world yet feels fresh with the top down perspective. It still looks nice in 2021 with Xbox Game Pass on Xbox Series X/S. You can also beat it in a weekend - it's a nice break from other heavier games.

    Great little game at 3$. cant go wrong. Playing it solo and coop on xsx. Not every game need to be about graphics?

    As long as your expectations are tempered, Halo: Spartan Assault is a serviceable game. It works as a top-down shooter, but you'll miss the enemy intelligence of the older games.
