After you finish your first mission the cut-scene that follows is so poorly done and left me wondering how old the writers for this game were or rather what did they cut from the original script. Halos multiplayer hasnt change very much so if you're into that type of game play then you're good. If you wanted another epic story or even a mediocre story then this does not deliver. If youre new to the franchise this may appeal to you. If you're a die hard halo fan who has read the books and also knows a lot about marathon youre going to be let down.

Listen Im not trying to bash on a series i love ok. But I didn't feel any excitement playing this game. Maybe its because im 30 and lack the amount of testosterone i had 10 years ago. But i still play racing games and i still get an insane rush when im winning. The spark is still there not the guilty one. From the first cut scene with Spartans falling from the sky to masterchiefs intro i felt really ashamed and embarrassed. Only because Ive read the books and my image of what Spartans are does not compare to these. Of course the books are going to be different since theyre written by different writers.

That lack of continuity in halo can cause a lot of confusion for me. also it causes me to actually hate the new since it breaks so many lines. Im just gonna make a list W/E.
1.Story is boring and lacks continuity 2. Missing spartan threes. No Spartans from the ghost of onyx series. Fyi these Spartans were with linda kelly and fred after halo 3 events. 3. Spartans falling from sky would kill them or injure them. 26 Spartans jumped from a pelican in reach. It wasnt pretty. 4. Halo 1-3 hinted that humans were the forerunners. Now they have removed that and made these forerunner enemies. I just dont get it why would the forerunners only call humans re-claimers. they didnt make the tech the forerunners did right? seriously wtf halo Four. 5. Same boring multiplayer 6. cant join random people for coop campaign only friends...seriously.

This isn't Halo without Split Screen. Halo 4 was the best to date in my opinion, so I can't totally call 343 out on being a terrible company. However, this oversight cost them a LOT of purchases, mine included. No way I would ever buy Halo without split screen.

Feels like a below average campaign. Too short. online co-op wouldn't work for me and a friend when using the same router in the same building. Also feel a bit cheated that hunt the truth, spartan ops, and the added cut-scenes to Halo 2 for the anniversary, doesn't connect to story either at all or just not very well.

Here's how it goes: Sneak up on an enemy, shoot him, shoot him some more, empty my ENTIRE Assault Rifle clip into him, then switch to my pistol, then oh, he turns around and hits me with one shot and I'm dead. Give me a break!!! Then respawn, take five steps and die from some Battle Rifle shot from across the map. In Slayer the scores were consistently 15-20 kills by a couple of players and 5-6 kills by the other two players (like me). This is pathetic and I don't know how anybody could consider this enjoyable. Maybe I've played too much COD but at least you get a MUCH more balanced set of scoring overall with players. And you can even just jump into a game and probably get 8-10 kills starting off. At least with that you feel like you've achieved something there and it keeps you captivated. With this game you feel like you're being cheated out of kills and I couldn't wait to turn the game off. Good luck to you Halo fans but this game will NOT be in my inventory. Expand

Halo, if you ever read this, know that I loved you.

I loved Frank O'Connor and his work at Official Xbox Magazine while you were still a baby. He was so funny. He was larger than life and a really cool dude. The best day of the month was the day a magazine arrived on the doorstep of our home in the woods of Alabama. Even a quarter page snippet about what was coming in Halo 2 would have me excited for weeks. Each new gun they announced had me dreaming. I cut out screenshots of Elites and Master Chief and taped them inside my high school locker. I didn't care that they had been super enlarged beyond their native resolution so they could cover a magazine page, and now they looked all pixely. I didn't even know what resolution was back then.

I loved your forefather, Bungie, and his beautiful works of art. I still remember the day that I played Halo for the very first time. I went over to my Aunt's house, and my cousin showed me his new Xbox. He started a new Halo co-op campaign, and we played for hours. Halo was the sole reason I ended my near 10 year gaming relationship with Nintendo and bought an Xbox instead of a Gamecube. We started a weekly LAN party at my house, and we played Halo splitscreen multiplayer every Thursday night. I still remember Tower of Power on Ascension. We had custom names for all our custom game modes. We made SWAT before SWAT was a thing. We called it Realistic. My dad loved the Scorpion tanks on Blood Gulch. He couldn't run and look around as fast as my brother and I, but if he got in a tank, he was happy. Mom would even play sometimes too. Her name was "EvilMomlady", lovingly given in honor of Calvin and Hobbes' Mom.

Back when I was a cool kid creating all my usernames on the Internets, I chose usernames that declared my love and dedication to halo. Its kinda embarrassing now, and I've tried to change most of them to be more "professional". Earlier this year, a software client wanted to use Skype for a group meeting. When we had setup the chat room, apparently my old Skype handle came through instead of my current Microsoft account name, and the client asked, who is "dude4halo"? I had to sheepishly own that one.

I bought every single Halo soundtrack that Marty O'Donnell made. They were incredible. They showed me how awesome orchestral and classical music can be. Another cousin and I would listen to them every time we rode in his car. He built a subwoofer in his trunk, and when we listened to Covenant Dance we almost peed our pants. The music was peaceful and beautiful, stirring and exciting.

I read every Halo book for a long time. They were my favorite science fiction for years. Eric Nylund's storytelling was amazing.

Starting with Halo 2, we began a tradition of picking up each new Halo game at midnight as soon as it was released. Our goal was to get as many people together as we could to huddle around and play the co-op on Legendary. We tried to beat the game before sunrise. We've continued the tradition to this day.
But now, I'm afraid that this good thing must come to an end. It appears that so many things are changing. The split-screen, the music, the main character, the big team battles loaded with vehicles, the forge... So many of the things I loved about Halo are now just... dust and echoes. There is certainly a chance for a reclaimer, but now, I feel that I must look elsewhere. Farewell Halo. I hope we meet again someday. Maybe we can relive the glorious times of our past.

The game has nothing to do with the trailers so if you are buying based on that then don't buy it. The game has no boss battle and ends with a cliff hanger that makes the game feel like it's been cut short.... The multiplayer is okay but is ruined by a lack of game modes for it. Overall the game doesn't live up to what i thought it was... don't buy this game unless you actually need it.... Expand

1 had to reinstall 3 times to get the damn thing to correctly install 2 NO split screen, it should have been an option, and at the very least they could have added support for offline co op split screen 3 micro transactions. 4 boring campaign that lacks any choice motivation and comes across as being led around by the nose.

4 boring campaign that lacks any choice motivation and comes across as being led around by the nose. Players have no input other than following along a predetermined path , predetermined actions and events. one might as well sit back and just watch the AIs play the game. As a gamer of over 30 years I can tell you the best days of FPS have long since past. These days it is pay to win, pay to advance, pay for a hat. Where once FPS required thought and planning, now it is run and gun drop and pop you back. No costs for death, No thought required..

The best part of Halo was sitting down with my peers and playing together. By removing split screens, 343 has hollowed out the game. No more can my friends arrive at a house settle in for the day and leave when our fingers are worn and our heads are aching.
No longer can I enjoy running missions with my son, instead he has to watch me play or I watch him. we had so looked forward to running Halo 5 together, he is old enough to no longer need to be carried and we had planned to put the game on hard and battle our way through together.

All of that has been cut to cater to the whims of online multiplayer, 343i has disgarded the very people who supported Halo through thick and thin. We were patient when 343i dropped the ball ref MCC. We forgave them and looked forward instead of placing blame.

yet 343 has abandoned the split screen crowd , not even provided a campaign split screen .

this is likely the last 343i game I buy. The game designers have decided to focus on twitch players in the 10-30 group and is completely ignoring the players who helped Microsoft Bungie 343i build the brand of XBOX and HALO.

thanks guys way to be loyal to those who were loyal.

4 REQs ( seems like every game wants to be an RNG SKINNER BOX)

    5 online only.

    6 plays like COD

7 super fast re-spawns means no real death penalty. Resulting in sloppy play styles and suicide runs....

it really is a shame the way these large release high profile games are all adding RNG , PTW. Halo COD Destiny all feel like games designed around Tryhard kids and are deliberately designed to get players addicted to the RNG...

If I feel different a few days from now I will change the score , but for now I am not at all happy how 343i is just following the pack instead of leading the way.

What happened to playing a FPS on a level field where everyone has an equal chance. Halo 4 was a PITA to play because

From the beta until release 343 has taken it upon themselves to screw up the auto-aiming and aim acceleration, the graphics (which look horrible), and the maps (which are all basically bad and unmemorable). I couldn't believe when some of the maps loaded and the lines were jagged and the textures look unrendered. The Spartan armors are not shiny or aesthetic at all and look matte, the textures of each character look Xbox 360 era. Although there is a good variety of maps, each is divided into its own playlist so really you will be playing the same 3-4 maps over and over again. And let us not forget wonderful new micro-transactions!

Forge: Nonexistent so the 343 can release its own DLC maps to preserve the longevity of the game rather than letting the community creating its own maps.

Storyline: Campaign is incredibly short and dull. Played it solo normal in 5-6 hours and have no desire to play it again. The ads and opening cinematic are more epic than the entire campaign. If you haven't read the books or looked at any of the lore, Master Chief's Blue Team is unfamiliar and the player doesn't really seem to care about the members except for Chief. Locke and his team is boring so all the protagonists seem to be uninteresting. Also you ending up fighting the same boss throughout the game about 6 times. Literally any other Halo had a much more compelling story compared to this.

Menu: Looks horrible and hard to navigate. Halo has always excelled with party systems and pre-game lobbies, this game throws it out the window and makes these two components horrible to look at. There is a separate screen to see who is in your party and when you back out of a multiplayer playlist it kicks you back to the main menu. Sometimes you and your friends' Spartans won't load when you are viewing them when you want toview or customize.

Hopefully through updates and DLC this will be a decent Halo game but as of right now, at launch, it is one of the worst. On a brighter note, Warzone and Warzone Assault are two very fun gametypes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Halo 5 is not a good game. It's not terrible and doesn't deserve a score of zero but it certainly isn't worth 9 or 10.
Yes it looks reasonably pretty and it runs at 60 fps. Personally the 60fps bit is nonsense to my mind. I would rather play an 8-bit game that looks awful but is fun to play than this, which simply isn't enjoyable. After the 3rd hour it actually became a chore and that has never happened in any other Halo game.

The campaign story was basically written by taking the script for I, Robot and changing the names of the characters. The plot is exactly the same, AI protects people by removing their freedoms. A tired and well trodden trope of Sci-fi story telling.

The new spartans (apart from Buck) are a dull and uninteresting lot and the scripting for them is woeful.
For example, the blue team call 117 "chief", this is very confusing since he calls all of them by their names, including Fred-104 who is apparently a lieutenant and should by rights be called Sir. This is simply ludicrous when you consider that they were all tortured together since they were 6. I doubt ranks mean much to them when they are alone and yet not one of them ever calls him John.

The uproar after Halo 2 where Bungie were berated for forcing you to play half the game as the arbiter has apparently been forgotten within Redmond. In this game you play 3/4 of it as some dull random bloke who has all the charisma of a dose of clap.

However that is saved by the fact the actual play time of the game is 4-5 hours with 1.5 hours removed for cut scenes. It means that the pain of playing this game is lessened because it is insultingly short.
It took the same amount of time to install the game and the 9Gb update as it did to complete.
After Halo 4 I recall some random 343 mouth saying they wanted 5 to provide a longer campaign experience after the feedback they received about 4 being short. They obviously forgot that too in the quest for cash. This is shorter than 4.
The reclaimer trilogy is no longer a trilogy apparently so 6 will obviously be the second half of this game story spun off to make more money.

Which brings me on to this. I don't do mutli-player at all but the cynic in me does not believe the removal of split screen is due to the 60fps nonsense touted around in interviews. The introduction of the squad based model and removal of split screen smells like an underhanded way to increase xbox live sign ups for 4 player campaigns.
The only thing 343 care about now is multi-player because xbox live sign ups are where the money is. The campaign is now a side line that they have to throw together to keep the people who play it happy. The story line, script and production values of the single player campaign reflect that lack of interest by 343.

Essentially what they have done here is taken the point of Halo, thrown it out and made a short, unimaginative, dreary CoD squad shooter clone.
If I wanted to play a boring squad shooter I would play CoD, and cut out the middle man.

The only reason I'm not angry about this game being a complete let down is because it came free with the xbone I bought to play Fallout 4 next week. If I had actually spent my money on it I would be livid about how disappointing it was.

This is not Halo and is not deserving of the title. I feel embarrassed for the people who worked on this that actually care about Halo and the universe around it. The executive decisions that led to this pathetic excuse for a game being released has done them and all the gamers that love Halo a disservice.
343, get your heads out of your collective holes and face the fact that this is a sub-par campaign and no matter how many 9/10 reviews you buy in the game "press" it will not change the fact that gamers can tell good from bad.
Halo 6 had better be a good, long stunner of a campaign because you have a LOT of ground to make up if you hope there is chance anyone will care about, or buy, 7.

The squad is absolutely useless. It would probably be easier for me to fight things on my own, had enemies not known where I was despite being behind walls. It's basically impossible to flank a hunter now. Speaking of flanking, every difficult enemy in the game has to be shot in the back and the squad does little to aid this. Why are you running around with your pistol out when you have a bigger gun on your back??
Yes, the game is gorgeous, but much of the environments were pretty repetitive. And you can't even retrace your steps! There was a warning to go back to the battlefield if I went too far.
I grew up on Halo and love playing with my friend in coop, but this series has just morphed into the inevitable pandering to the multiplayer experience of people who play CoD and Battlefield. I get it, Halo 2 redefined multiplayer online and everyone fell into step. But this game also redefined first person stories on the console. Gone are your companions Cortana and Gunny with wit to add to the dialogue, and now we're left with one dimensional squad characters who are more useless than the marines you fought with against the Flood. I fear I have to turn to RPGs in order to get an actual single player story these days.
The sick part about this is they left the story wide open for a sequel. Let's reinvent multiplayer again in a new game and go through the same bugs. I would take the scourge of story-DLC over having to pay $60 for another half thought out campaign.

I'm not sure why this game got a 85 from major critics but at best this game is a 70 or maybe a 75. FALSE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE, ADVERTISEMENT ON THE STORY LINE CAMPAIGN. Play it for one day and return it the next day. Nothing in the CAMPAIGN what Microsoft advertise on there trailers for this game.

They effectively took all of the bad elements of Halo 4 and made them worse. Less customization, barely any multiplayer modes, no BTB at launch, no split-screen COOP, stylized poor graphics, and the addition of micro transactions.

Halo 4 had its problems, but this is the first in the Halo franchise I regret buying. 343 is the worst thing to happen to Halo.

And the stupid said "We repeat the Warden 5x Eternal" and how is not enough, let's close the game with his presence again. The game became boring, annoying repetitive with this opponent.
2 - Whose idea was it to by Cortana against humans? It will be ridiculous if you evoke the Mendicant Bias or Flood to justify the support of cortana human again.
3 - Cade chief? Where you stuck the Chief? Not evoke the Halo Reach to explain that Halo survive without the Chief because that work was exceptional to explain the gaps, with a colossal story to be explored, you decided to opt for a story where the Chief is not the protagonist, Chief was turned into a mere representative of his own existence, and not the face itself.
4 Again, where is the Chief?
5 - Please kill the Spartan Lock character in some comic book launched between any before the release of Halo 6, or cause him to die in some Roard Star, send it to look for a Criptum any forgotten. Nothing against the actor, all against Spartan Lock.

What was once a staple in the franchise is now an afterthought for gamers that can't necessarily spring for a new xbox one but want to play with their pals. Xbox, or Microsoft I should say further proves that they could care less about the recreational gamer. In their eyes, it's buy a console or GTFO. This in turn creates a more anti social society in which we can't even go to our friends house and play a damn game. So for story mode, HALO 5 gets a big fat goose egg zero out of 10. The multiplayer is okay but it feels chunky and slow and the aiming system is now call of duty so what's the point of having 2 different games?? Just merge the damn things at this point. There is replay value though so multiplayer gets 5 out of 10. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm just gonna say it Halo 5 sucks, and these are the reasons why it is such a waste of digital space.

Halo 5: Guardians campaign is a confusing disarray of levels, characters, and story plots that don't add up. Halo 5, which takes equal parts of the Halo novels, lame live-action mini-series, and characters, by Halo standards, don't really have an impact or you would care for. The story centers around Spartan Jameson Locke, of which he is the main character of the live action series Halo: Nightfall, and Fireteam Osiris, which is composed of Spartans Holly Tanaka, Olympia Vale, and Edward Buck, which you might recognize from previous Halo games Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach. The premise of the story is to track down the location of the Master Chief, after Master Chief receives a vision that Cortana is still alive and on a distant planet called Meridan. After Master Chief arrives on Meridan with his team of Spartans called Blue Team, Spartan Locke shortly arrives and tracks them down, and after a heated argument about what both of their objectives entail, they engage in a fisticuff, and Master Chief escapes. After this, the game continues to get really confusing for most intents and purposes, as Locke, has to fight an Elite civil war upon their home planet, Sanghelios, and Master Chief learns that Cortana is alive and has essentially become the forerunner equivalent to Gravemind, the Flood hive mind from previous games. But if you think that's the worst, here are more plot points that they left out entirely, as well as keen observations.
!. Halo 5, like Halo 4, does not take place around or even remotely close to a Halo ring.
    2. The Flood, again like 4, do not make an appearance.
    3. In the Campaign, they say that Master Chief isn't the last Spartan 2 anymore.
    4. There are 12 levels with Spartan Locke, and only 3 levels with Master Chief. I thought Master Chief was the star of the show...
    5. Spartan Locke looks way too close to ODST character Romeo
    6. Holly Tanaka does not look remotely close to a Japanese person.
    7. Your A.I. buddies, are almost dumber than marines in previous Halo games.
    8. Vehicles, which is one of the reasons Halo is enjoyable, get so shafted.
    9. You get nothing for beating the game, no armor, no option to play as the other characters, absolutely nothing.
    10. And this might be the last point, they're 2/3 levels dedicated to storytelling.
And the sad thing about this story is that, it vaguely reminds of Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker, because the fact that Snake believes that the Boss is still alive, is almost word for word the same as Master Chief looking for Cortana. Halo doesn't need convoluted plot twists and turns, it just needs good game play, great voice acting, and copious amounts of vehicles. The only good thing I can say about the game is, well, which they kinda stole this from Star Wars: Republic Commando, but if you're playing solo, you can assign your A.I. buddies to attack certain targets, pick up weapons, and drive vehicles.

So far, you just heard me jaw about the hideous campaign, but surely since this is Halo, you'd expect a decent online multi-player right?

    Wrong.

Halo multiplayer is divided into two playlists, Arena and Warzone. Arena has the core game types you'd expect like Slayer and Free-for-Fall, but oddly, no Oddball, or Team Objectives like neutral bomb. and Warzone, which combines equal parts disappointment, Territories, and Invasion from Halo:Reach. Warzone also has the privilege of being the worst Halo mode ever invented beside modes made just for the Action Sack playlist. How the game works is capture territories, and continually move on to the next one, like Invasion. There is also A. I. on the map to kill for points, but that's more of a problem than an innovative feature, because matches are lost and won killing those things instead of capturing said territories. After capturing all territories on the map, you have to destroy the other team's power core, which boil down to my next point that the power core is impossible to reach and you're gonna die multiple times trying to reach it, because the maps are designed so poorly that all objectives/territories are only accessible by a bottleneck corridor, and that people abuse the requisition system, which gives people vehicles, power weapons, and power-ups like active camo. And that's not even the end of all of the gripes I have for game, which I'm almost surprised I forgot this, the game handles like crap, remakes of maps are really bad like Headlong, and Midship, and the fact that the SMG which has been absent since Halo:Reach overpowers the Assault Rifle and horribly imbalances gameplay, is astonishing. From reading this review, you might think this guy is an **** and doesn't know what's he talking about. No, the game is that bad, like I'd rather play Halo Spartan Assault, or Halo Wars, instead of this heap of garbage. I fear for Halo 6.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A truly disappointing game fashioned by 343 Industries who have officially sold out and lost their connection to their player base and their grasp of the Halo mythos and what made it so successful. Case in point: No split screen co-op, the brazen implementation of micro-transactions, and most of all a convoluted train wreck of a plot that tarnishes the unique story telling of the previous entries.

For all its criticisms, I enjoyed Halo 4 and held a great deal of faith in 343 in crafting the next installment of the Halo saga. While the multiplayer is commendable, the writing and mechanics of the game-play are not. Squad based combat is underdeveloped, the AI is incompetent and the campaign can only truly be enjoyed cooperatively online. This is a hindrance to many fans who are drawn to Halo's storytelling instead of its multiplayer. I also can't help but feel as if this is some ploy in order to sell more Xbox Live gold memberships.

The game borrows too much from the side material, and meekly introduces so much in its short campaign that it accomplishes very little. The campaign in its entirety feels like it was just setup for Halo 6.

Look at everything 343 discarded for "higher frame rates", because the graphics certainly don't reach 1080p. Forge, split screen co-op, a satisfying campaign, popular MP game types from previous halo entries. And in return the only worthwhile addition we get is Warzone. Oh, and they put guns on the mongoose.

Locke is a bland protagonist, and instead of Master Chief coming to terms with his humanity as we were led to believe at the end of Halo 4, nothing is explored, he just keeps on being the archetypical silent hero. As for that meaningful death, you know, Cortana's, well you can forget that too because an hour into the game we find out she's alive. No build up, no mystery or anything leading up to this revelation. And apparently everyone else knew this before Chief did. Every other spartan besides Buck has no personality or charm. Cortana and Halsey suddenly have these radical changes in character. Cortana wants to be the tyrannical overlord of the universe and Halsey finally expresses concern for her "children" soldiers. Its not like they've been embroiled in decades of perilous warfare in space all this time. And where's the Didact? The Librarian? The former died in the comics and the latter is on vacation.

    Final Thoughts:

Jun should've been on fire team Osiris.

Any single member of Blue Team could've probably wiped out fire team Osiris by themselves.

No climactic battle between Chief and Locke like in the trailers.

Cliffhanger ending to a deeply mediocre story.

    Why isn't dual wielding back?

    Why is Cortana wearing clothes?

Hey, what's the domain and the mantle of responsibility? I shouldn't have to read the books to know what's going on in the story. Guardians should've been able to stand on its own.

Don't allow yourself to be entranced by the pretty visuals and production quality. This entire game is style over substance. 343 was either too ambitious, or simply became to preoccupied with profits to make an enjoyable Halo title. I dare say the story has now become unsalvagable. In Halo 6 bring back split screen, the flood, the brute chieftains who charge you with gravity hammers, get creative and find ways to develop all of these characters, reintroduce dual wielding, maybe reunite the Chief with the Arbiter (long shot?), and get rid of the filthy micro-transactions and then I might consider checking it out.

To everyone showering the game with praise and generous, undeserved scores you are pretty much telling 343 that its okay to churn out mediocre content. Objectively, this game is bad in many aspects. And seriously, if you collect all the skulls and mission intel you get ...nothing. Remember in Halo 3 when you got the vaunted Hayabusa armor for finding all the skulls and you could tell how good a player was by how cool looking and rare their armor was? When gaming was more of a meritocracy where skill was more important than deep pockets. Yeah, I miss those days too. Por que 343? Por Que?

Oh, and remember that OP suit of power armor from Halo Legends? Do something with that.

For a good squad based shooter with a more compelling story look to the retro title Star Wars: Republic Commando. Take notes 343.

343 totally missed the boat on this game. A compelling and intriguing story has always been a cornerstone for Halo games but, this is severely lacking in said department. Add unimpressive textures to the mix, poor resolution and the lack of split screen (why?!) and here you have the, possibly, the worst halo in the franchise.

The single player campaign is an awful nonsensical story that's completely forgettable. That's all that could be said about that portion but it's so much worse: Boring AI squadmates and shifting perspectives to uninteresting personalities are really what kill it. Halo 2 did this well and made it work because the Arbiter was an interesting character. The sangheli were an interesting race. And the Covenant is an interesting faction. Locke offers absolutely NONE of that so why force him down our throats? Start a spin off with Locke if you want to tell his story so bad. People play the SP campaign of Halo to play as Master Chief and have him interact with crazy alien objects in exotic locales. Unfortunately that's only a small portion of the campaign here.

The multiplayer has several exploits that make it frustrating. Some items and weapons are way overpowered. Requisition/lootboxes add a pay to win aspect that just makes it no fun especially since they keep adding more and more common/uncommon items making it even harder to unlock the rarer ones. So people can just pay hand over fist and keep unlocking overpowered weapons and items. Even the way the permanent unlocks work makes you suffer. I had to unlock like 100 different assault rifles and battle rifles that barely vary at all before I unlocked something I was excited to use. And the UI for scrolling through these items? AWFUL. There's 100 items but only five at a time fit on the screen. Are you kidding me? Christ.

Gears of Duty: Halo Edition 5 simply isn't a Halo game. I've just come off beating the Master Chief Collection, even grinding through 4 again. While some design elements saw improvements, namely the fore-runner guns which now feel appropriate to what they were supposed to be, almost everything else is significantly worse. Having also just finished Advanced Warfare, the similarities to the COD franchise and everywhere.

There was also one, particular thing, which stood out like a giant middle finger to the entire Halo community. As one Reddit user, amusso18 put it, "they [343] spent their time giving you the best parts of the game in UNPLAYABLE CUTSCENES". During the opening scene I thought, "Ok, maybe its a tease for what you get to do, I can let one slide". But when the second scene ran, showing your team killing a bunch of elites and then a boss elite - something EVERY other game let the player do countless times - I had enough.

If this were some COD nod to Halo that would be different, if it was an entirely different game or even an experimental game based in the Halo world like ODST, I may have been more sympathetic. 343 simply took all the things that made Halo what it was and killed them.

Some people say "Just go play CE forever then", but that's just it. Halo 1-3 all showed progress and innovation. Halo ODST and Reach did the same and took the series further than it had ever been, all while keeping the core of Halo in-tact.

Halo 4 was frustrating to play and marred by adjustments that made no sense. Where did chiefs headlamp go? Its the same suit at the end of 3, why do I have to suffer an insanely dark game because 343 didn't feel like mapping the up arrow to a flashlight? Really? Why do the guns almost all have reduced ammo counts? Why does chief feel like he is way more vulnerable than before; I haven't A-B'd it but I'm certain his shield is far weaker in 4. Why are grenades basically useless now? One of the funnest parts of 3 was sticking everything and getting good at it, in 4 its almost impossible. Why do banshee pilots fly like they can read the players mind, I've never seen such insane piloting, not even by human players. The whole thing just feels like its trying to punish the player. Also, I really didn't care for Cortana's drama. The COD influence of her barking orders the entire campaign, I suppose, were a glimpse into 5's direction.

Regarding multiplayer, why did they nerf the rail gun!? Why did they keep changing things on the whims of butt-hurt players? Its so frustrating to buy a game, like the game, and have it be completely different a few months in! I completely gave up Halo 4's multiplayer because they changed it at the core level so often. Halo 5, I hesitate to even try it.

The game is OK, but its not Halo. Don't call it Halo 343 if your going to make something completely different.

Even though I could not play I watched my son because I was interested in the story line. I am so disappointed. I think the thing that upsets me the most though, and many people may not agree with this but, the fact that you cannot sit with a friend or three and play alongside each other crammed onto the couch, laughing, giggling and yelling in a frenzy of excitement and fun or the boys begging "mom" to play because I am a kick ass sniper. As a parent I try to limit the amount of electronic time my son has and when the boys come over they are allowed to play for a bit and then sent outside for some time with nature. But now in order for him to play his most favorite game and one of mine with his friends they have to own and xbox one and halo 5 and be in their own homes. None of them have an Xbox one, they all own PS4. Truthfully I bought the xbox one just for Halo 5. I feel like I have made a huge mistake. I am not sure who makes the decisions when you design these games but I do not agree that completely eliminating split screen play to get a better picture or whatever it was I read was the reason was worth it. Halo 4 was perfectly fine playing split screen. When you have a game series the next game is suppose to be amazing compared to the last. Unfortunately Halo 4 is better in leaps and bounds compared to Halo 5. Get it together Microsoft or I may just have to trade it all in. I hate to say that because I have been an avid supporter of Microsoft but when it comes down to it, as a parent we buy what makes our kids, and ourselves happy. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First, SPOILERS BELOW!!!

I'm sorry: every Halo until this one has been great - I was most nervous about Halo 4, as it was 343's first entry into the series...and they delivered! Well, mostly: the Prometheans were an interesting conceit, the Didact was...imposing although I would have liked more character development or menace, and the Campaign levels were solid. As a sidenote: I only play the Campaign, rarely mutliplayer (I don't have the time (or patience) to spend honing my MP skills...SP has been just GREAT until now.

    Then this mess.

    My issues:
-you're BARELY the Chief in the game: Bungie did the "Arbiter switch out" for Halo 2, but it felt balanced, and it contextually made sense with the story and the 3rd party (Flood) as a threat - Locke seems like a good character, but the "head-to-head" matchup promised by the marketing didn't come to fruition except for a painful-to-watch hand-to-hand CG fight
-The story - just...bad, man. There's some tacked-on "hunt" that made no sense: Chief is ignoring UNSC orders and going after Cortana with just his squad...even though he discovers she's an enemy now and could, you know, contact them...why not go back to Infinity and explain what he saw? He's pretty much a lawbringer after saving the galaxy...? No...this story is confusing as hell, the motivations of the characters are unclear, and it does nothing to build on the Haloverse
-The continuity - I had expected something related to the end of Halo 4; the only thread to it is the Prometheans are still enemies and are...helping the AIs to, uh, take over and police the galaxy in order to...er...stop war...? Or, er, defend against the Flood returning...? Or...?
-The marketing - in their first trailer, Chief is covered in some robe walking across the desert, a Guardian rises up and...none of that is in the game or predating the game or, well, anything...I was expecting something to have happened to Earth (remember the end of Halo 4 when the Didact dropped...something on the ground and the soldiers were warily approaching it...? Wha' hoppen?)
-the squad AI...the goddamned squad AI - I'd played the first level and though, "hunh...Republic Commando...?" then read online that the Producer produced RC back in the day and I was looking forward to it: RC was fun and I had hoped for a sequel...your squad had snappy banter, and each had a unique function. Most importantly, they LISTENED TO YOUR COMMANDS. These AI are f***ing RETARDED. They don't stay put, they run into a hail of plasma for no reason, they don't have any variety of capability, and they don't have much command variety. If there's a "worst thing" about this game, it's your squad AI...
-guns felt uniform - action didn't seem varied
-Boss battles were repetitive, ESPECIALLY the 3x Eternal Warden one on The Breaking - he wasn't menacing and seemed to have no purpose in the story except to sound English and have a stupid "Mario 64" bubble exposed on his back as a weak point
-levels were boring - it felt like being channeled from one multiplayer arena to the next - little variation between levels, very few surprises

The only plusses I saw were:
-Cortana as the villain - I was Ok with this: it was a nice plot twist to have her turn on humanity: shades of Dr. Halsey's arrogance mixed with an AI's immortality
-the AI threat revealed at the end - it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out in Halo 6: AIs in the Haloverse control slipspace jumps, complex installations, planetary defenses, almost everything...if they jump ship to become a totalitarian regime, how does the UNSC fight that while crippled by their betrayal?

If they can make a story out of that that makes sense, Halo 6 might be good...after 5, though, for the first time EVER, I'm going to wait for it to drop in price.

Ugh. So disappointed. This is one of my favorite series and this is just a big ole turd in what was supposed to be a promising new era...

Despite lobbying fanboys trying to resurrect a game that failed on too many levels, the overall experience of Halo wasn't there in Halo 5.

I'll try and be as thorough as I can when reviewing it, and will list 10 points that correlate with the 0 to 10 scoring systems on Metacritic. So here goes! 1 - No split screen. Sure, that doesn't really affect me too much anymore, but think

Sure, that doesn't really affect me too much anymore, but think back to when you were a kid. Going over to a friend's house or having them come over to yours and sitting back and playing some Halo together. Hell, some friends can't afford an Xbox so all the better they get to experience ALONGSIDE of you, which is no longer possible.

Well, guess you can always pack up your TV, Xbox One, controllers, and all necessary cables, head over to a friends, hook it up and play. Yay. -1

2 - The game is beautiful.

Mine you, it's not ground breaking or anything, but it's a definite improvement visually over it's predecessors. Despite graphics not making a game, there's definitely something to be said when reviewing it. +1

    3 - Microtransactions.

While it's not a huge thing in Halo 5, and things purchased with money can be obtained simply by playing as well, there's something to be said for providing an "easy route" for those who have money to burn vs those that don't. Gold Req packs do provide an advantage to players, and being able to purchase them with real money is doing what everyone hates... providing an advantage for cash players. -1

    4 - No map voting.

It doesn't matter whether you like playing Blood Gulch for the 5th time in a row or not, it's never a good idea to remove features. This goes hand-in-hand with the removal of splitscreen. Allowing playing to vote for maps was a way of ensuring that players aren't being stuck in less-than-desirable maps/gamemodes. With the added "You're banned for... (insert ludicrous reason for actually banning someone here)" players are locked into playing maps they do not enjoy, even thought nearly the entire lobby would rather be playing something else. -1

    5 - The Ban Hammer.

Have you ever been playing a game and decided "Well, I'm losing and there is no coming back from this. I'm no longer having fun. I'm going to play a different game mode"? Well, now you can do that and receive an automatic ban lasting for increasing increments of time depending on the frequency of quits. Sure, it's affects everyone when a teammate quits, but locking players into the "play or die" mentality is absolutely moronic. -1

    6 - Vehicles are useless.

This may just be a case of bad map rotation or a severe lack of large maps in the early game, but let's face it. Vehicles are almost useless in the current map rotations on MP. For a game that prides itself on vehicle variety, it certainly says something for not being able to use them effectively. Sure, some players might be more skillful and able to use said vehicles in tight spaces, but that's a small segment of the community. Making vehicles nearly useless for the larger portion of your fanbase is not a good idea... It's as if there was no QA for this title.... -1

7 - Campaign was okay, at best.

I kind of like the direction it was going, but there was no sense of any real urgency during the entire plot. Sure, the guardians are waking up and things are going to hell, but it's best if we just look for the Master Chief who, we all know, is off doing what he does best. Saving mankind. But let's waste time trying to stop him even though we all know that even if we could, we'd be dooming mankind. Genius writing. BTW, that was sarcasm. -1

    8 - The menus.

Face it, there's so many redundancies and useless submenus that it can be a little confusing. For the first 20 minutes of online after the campaign, I spent nearly all of it going through each individual menu to figure out where everything was essentially hidden. Simplify it, seriously. -1

    9 - Characters are bad.

The characters for this title just ooze political correctness. While anyone can appreciate having a diverse team of protagonist, that doesn't mean they prefer it over character fluidity. They all feel forced and there is near zero chemistry between any of them. I'd rather an all white, all black, all male, or all female team as opposed to what they offered. It's a game, leave the political agenda at the door. Not to mention some of the commentary from the female spartans mid game.... No one cares nor was it called for to comment on the gender equality of Sangheilis. Again, leave the PC drivel at the door. -1

    10 - Free map packs!

I can't stress how important this is. It speaks for itself and one can only hope they continue this trend. +1

There you have it. A comprehensive breakdown of Halo 5.

The poster child of “Souless Corporate Games”, Halo 5 is one of the saddest falls from grace I have ever had the misfortune to witness.
Technically functional but devoid of all personality, heart, and soul that made the original trilogy such a massive success. Halo 5 is what happens when a publisher prioritizes HOW and game plays over, and at the expense, of everything else in the title.

Visual wise it’s an absolute mess. It’s hard to tell enemy ranks apart, and sometimes even different enemy species apart. Most of the vehicles and armor look like they were designed for the 14 year old Mountain Dew guzzler demographic while completely smashing established lore and canon.
I guess the point I’m dancing around is that this just doesn’t FEEL like a Halo game; it’s lost everything that made it different and special, all of it replaced with a generic and predictable plot filled with bland and unlikable characters.
Had this game been made with something other than a Halo skin slapped over the top of it I would probably have enjoyed it a lot more, but as it stands it’s frankly an insult to the previous trilogy of games.
If they could somehow combine the story and lore of Halo 3 with the mechanics of Halo 5 it would be the best Halo game ever made, hands down.
Sadly, however, Microsoft and 343 made all of the wrong choices when it came to Halo 5.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game completely detached itself from it's past games. It's story is terribly written and they attempted to write out it's main character to introduce another. 343i seemed to think that it's player base wouldn't care for lack of Chief, but it did. 3 missions with Chief and 12 with Locke, Soo much fun. The game also had one of the best marketing scheme's out there to hype the game and get players ready.... Too bad that fell hard on it's face and wasted hours of players times. None of the marketing comes into play, even Hunt the Truth. The multiplayer was ok, though the overall first impression showed that Microsoft wants back in the Mlg Scene and that completely ruined the mp on launch for me. Overall, this game could have been better, but it just didn't have the chops that Halo 4 had. Expand

Because it didn't live up to the hype or expectations and what we got was a half-baked campaign at best and a multiplayer where aiming feels like you're shooting at ghosts that aren’t there and connecting to servers outside your region results in many missed kills because hits wouldn't register.

Turns out 343 decided to remove the region restrictions, matching Aussies with Americans. And as someone living in Australia if you're connecting to a server in America you're not going to have a good time with a ping over 200ms.

The single player story sucked, it left you with a Halo 2 style ending and left many players thinking, wait *Spoilers* *Spoilers*
Cortana is the bad guy now? What? *Spoilers* *Spoilers*

Locke is just as strong as chief when the chief should have been beat down in less than 5 seconds. Hmm. The campaign felt linear and very repetitive too. You fight the same boss over 6 times! Amazing.

And why am I only playing as the Chief for 2 levels? Wow that sucks. At least it's a long campaign... Oh wait, I finished it in less than 6 hours. /sigh

The multiplayer levels feel very poorly designed where jumping off accidentally happens a lot, and spawning at the edge of the level facing the outside boundaries don't help. And don't get me started on the broken spawning. Just hope that you don't spawn in the same location more than twice or you're going to give the enemy team an easy win.

The aiming as I said is terrible, the removed all the auto aim from the previous halo games and implemented their own bullet magnetism. So if you aim near then you're going to hit them anyway regardless if you're reticule isn't actually on your target.

Warzone feels like Pay to Win, I've opened over 20 packs and yet to see any heavy drops like scorpions or wraiths. All I've got are Mongoose and Ghosts. Where if you decide do drop your hard earnt money you're more likely to get these heavy armored vehicles.

But one you use them they're gone forever so the cycle continues! I guess they need to feed their children some way right?

After Halo 5 all I can say is give up 343, you had your chance at Halo and it's time to pass the torch to a better developer

There's no big fight between the 2 Spartans and it focuses on Locke who no one cares about. The campaign is shorter than destiny, a lot of elements and names for things seems copied from destiny and it's just not fun. It's 4 in better frames but not graphics. I think the PVP was mostly better and had less issues but for long time fans who like the story they will be very disappointed. The end itself is a mask in the face and for the amount well I'm very upset I dropped so much money on it... I wouldn't even buy this for 30 bucks if I was you. 343 showed promise with 4 but lost it completely with 5. The multiplayer is where this game falls right on its ass. The ground-pound is one of the most useless moves you can do. To anyone who has played any Halo game in their life, it's just a perfect chance for them to pelt you with bullets (combined with Radar and the dash move, a way to see the player and evade). The game focuses on power weapons, telling you when they spawn, and encourages good play with them. So to returning Halo veterans, all that skill with the Battle rifle and grenades is almost worthless. Power weapons require very little skill to use and usually amount to 45% of all kills in one match. Most other kills amount to spraying the assault rifle with a bunch of your team mates nearby. Power weapons were important in other Halo games, but they were balanced. Now you just camp in the area of the strongest weapon and constantly get more ammo for it. The multiplayer maps feel a little too small for 4 vs 4 and their layouts can range from simple design to maddening confusing. I completely dislike the zoom-in feature on most guns. In old Halo games it zoomed-in so you couldn't see your hud but got a better shot. The zoom-in feature in Halo 5 is useless on most guns as it lets you look down the sights. This would be helpful... in Call Of Duty, but it's worthless here. Your radical doesn't change in Halo, there's no point. The new req system is... lame. It's a direct clone of Counter - Strike: Global Offensive. This would still be fine if it wasn't used only in one game mode. If you're going to commit to a new system of unlocking, you should apply it to everything. Take a chance, believe in your new system! But they chose to take the safe route, only for those who want to try it. Then why even have it in the first place? So you can drain another $3 from impatient gamers? The multiplayer mode amounts to plenty of sticking together, bullet spraying and camping. No strats, just point, shoot and camp. Does that sound like fun? Overall, Halo 5 tries to change up it's multiplayer but fails to commit to it. Halo is desperately trying to lure Call Of Duty players back to Halo. And as someone who detests the CoD series since Black Ops 1, I can honestly say Halo 5 is almost as bad as CoD: Ghosts. Expand

So I got halo 5 deluxe edition pre ordered, got the game and... I'm absolutely devastated at what 343 have made. It doesn't feel at all like Halo anymore, the graphics are blurry and jaggy, the draw range for resolution is appalling with heavy pixelation to boot. Level design is poor and cramped/linear, firefights are unintelligent and repetitive, team AI is ridiculously bad, some "missions" are basically extended interactive cut scenes, the story is dubious at best.. I've never gotten halfway through a Halo and literally lost all desire to continue before this, I had to force myself to continue. And then the multiplayer customisation is another huge step back from Reach, low res armour with very poor colour modifications and choices, basic emblem design.. Halo Reach looked better and played better than Halo 5. I don't think 343 are capable of carrying the Halo franchise. The multiplayer is also very bad, serious issues with aiming and weapon balance, really lazy map design, pay to win REQ or " Wreck" system. I'm not against innovation either but most of the changes have been poorly initialised (squad mechanics, pointless Spartan abilities, being broken out of iron sights when hit, missions that are basically interactive cut-scenes with no shooting!) they even went backwards imo by removing Armour abilities. 343i are not worthy of the mantle of responsibility they owe to Halo fans (pun intended). These aren't thoughtless complaints either, there are many issues with the campaign and design of 343i Halo titles and they aren't addressing them. Honestly do any of you think the very limited AI, personality bereft, bullet sponge, dull as dishwater prometheans or equally poor squad AI/dull as a stone characters (not including blue team members or Buck though their AI sucks bad) improves the Halo genus? Or the many contradicting nonsense plot devices? The story is just poor. Aside to the awful storyline let's take a closer look at the characters, compare Osiris to NOBLE team who were incredibly interesting, varied, and unique; Locke and his team excluding Buck are boring and clichéd, Commander Sarah Palmer is outright irritating. Spartan IV's? How the heck does Locke fight the Chief on an even keel?? How is Osiris shown to equal Blue team?? Spartan II's are superior in every way not to mention the experience gulf here. Someone put a nail in the coffin above by saying the campaign is designed for co-op. That is so wrong! They shouldn't ever take away from the solo experience, some people don't like playing online and besides that it should work just as well in solo as a point of good design. For me my adventures with the Master Chief are over. I couldn't be more disappointed. Expand

After all the hype we get this - no couch coop, arena that looks like its from a ZX Spectrum, in game purchases, repetition in gameplay. Im sticking to Gears of War - a great original game, correctly ported over to next gen - unlike the Master Chief Collection - 343 what have you done?

One plus - the canyons / rocks look great - but inside space ships don't look any better to the 360 versions

I guess this was made as a multiplayer game first and they figured any campaign is better than no campaign. Requisitions. This is basically gambling for items in game. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't been docked for placing deceiving content in game in order to unlock all the suits you would need to place $1160.60 (at infinite odds or play the game 600-1000 hrs and hope that the draws are perfect.)

BUT; 343i announced the omission of various modes of play as the compromises they had to make in order to make the game bigger and maintain a high frame rate. Well, the frame rate is high; I'll give it that. Graphics are not significantly better than the last gen. The campaign is weak with convoluted, unresolving story elements. Narrow paths winding to a boss battle - over and over again. AI is inconsistent. The best features of the game are online MP, and for someone who doesn't play that alone very often, it's not enough of a plus to justify the steps backward the developers have taken. With no local multiplayer, 80 or 90% of the game's long term value is gone for those who like to play that way. This is not progress. Expand

The game proudly shows its bright colors and new gameplay gimics, but it does every major fan of the Halo franchise a major disservice by creating the single most pathetic attempt at a Halo story to be seen by the series beloved fans. The potential story shown through trailers and teasers appears to show this amazing and intricate story experience, with depth and lore abounding- yet when you finish the campaign, you may feel like the series you have grown to love for its amazing and out-of-this-world story telling has decided to become a lump of coal among a group of diamonds. The story begins with what appears to be a halfway decent story, but as you progress through, it seems that the writers become more and more confused, throwing in random and meaningless story twists and events that in and of themselves make less and less sense. The game, going away from its roots of grandiose and colossal events and threat, and leaves it for a pathetic, all too similar story as Halo 4. The writers, instead of making an ending that at LEAST has closure and a meaningful or well delivered closing, leaves the campaign open ended and with the least closure possible.

If you are a fan of the story of Halo, forgo the campaign in this game. Do not BUY this game. Do not let companies take beloved and well written stories, and butcher them for the sake of online multiplayer. Halo fans deserve better than what this game delivers.

    Much better.

As a long time Halo and Xbox fan, this game is utterly disappointing. Sure it looks great, but the story is lame and playing online doesn't have that Halo feel anymore.. Not to mention there is a huge lack of maps and variety. This should not have the Halo name. II highly recommend you play it somewhere before buying.

It is nothing like hunt the truth, it is nothing like the ad campaign, they never really wanted to hurt the chief there was no stress about locke and the chief really hashing it out. In the end they portrayed locke as if in equal standing to the chief and made one of my most favorite characters a villain who made positively no sense. The end of the game left me both mystified and tremendously frustrated as all it made me feel was that the whole campaign was the prolouge to halo 6. This review is based on the campaign experience which is honestly why I bought the game and I cannot be any more angry with how **** the campaign is. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have never in my entire life felt so let down and honestly heartbroken over a story, in any medium (books, movie, tv, games, etc.) as I felt after finishing the Halo 5 campaign. Let alone the idiotic decisions to force Locke down our throats, or the absolute laziness of having to fight the Warden again and again and again and again, the nonsensical writing and ending of this campaign has absolutely destroyed the Halo/Master Chief story. Master Chief is no longer cool, unique or special. He's just one of a million Spartans, another soldier same as all the others and Cortana (for no explainable or justifiable reason) has become a Genocidal maniac worse than any in the history of the planet... All of which happened while we had our back turned because we were humping a football with Locke. Even if the writers wanted to have Cortana go bad, the key of the story would have been Chief anguishing over it and wrestling with trying to cope with it as he was forced to fight her... their shared history and relationship being strained and affecting their decisions and actions. All elements that this story glosses over with barely a shrug in a single, stupid cut scene... just like the supposed argument with Locke. Seriously, this is the worst story line and story writing I have ever encountered. The only reason I will be looking to Halo 6 is to see how awful it is. Like the morbid curiosity of gawking at a terrible accident on the highway. BTW, I hear Nintendo is coming out with a great Mario game where you get to play as one of Mario's faceless classmates in plumbing school and Princess Peach turns out to be a Nazi! Yay!!! Expand

Worst halo game by far, congrats 343 once again you show how not to make a halo game.
Terrible campaign, terrible game balancing, **** community (almost every game will have someone not getting any kills or just killing themselves), terrible armor customization (just why the hell would you remove options? sequels are meant to improve on what the previous did).

Halo 5 is a multi-player game with a tacked-on single-player campaign. The advertising campaign promised a epic story-driven campaign involving a conflict between iconic Halo characters. They flopped on the campaign as well as the multiplayer. The layout of the maps are just laughable. I'm selling this game for store credit.

This is the most boring halo game ever. 343 uses micro-transactions to sell us armor that is really hard to get in-game. multiplayer maps are law-luster, so they give us community maps and make it nearly impossible for us to share maps.

1 point for effort... just kidding, they don't deserve it.

This game has a a decent story. Not impressed personally, but I've got 330 steam games between two accounts so I've seen hundreds better. The graphics are significantly better than the previous halo games, so that's a plus. Then again, I've upgraded to a 4K TV from an old 768p TV, so that may be it. Wouldn't be surprised

What they did that I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't like and makes this game have me grind my teeth instead of have fun is that the gameplay is so much different.

They made maximum ammo close to nothing because you've always got a squad with you or because you don't live long enough to use it in multiplayer.
They made the player's hitpoints close to nothing. The damage tables are also unfing reasonably unbalanced You get two shotted by BR's, three shotted by plasma pistols, instantly killed by melees from elites and hunters (when you could ALMOST ALWAYS survive at least one melee, even on legenday) and it's no better on normal and easy, you can take maybe 3-4 shots of any weapon when at full shields before dying, but thank heavens you can survive two spartan bashes, three clips of the assault rifle, and being rammed head on with a ghost and still have shields left because it makes total sense. Also thank god it only takes two of those $28 grenades to destroy a $47,500,000 scorpion tank (if you read the lore, that's what it costs to make them).
They also added a zoom feature on all the weapons. I'm not going to lie, I like the idea of it. I like the design of almost all of the zoomes. What I hate more than Call of Duty and drives me crazy enough to want to bash my head into the wall is whenever you take damage, it unzoomes.

Overall 0/10. They did long time Halo fans a severe disservice by trying to copy TERA, COD, and Destiny with this one.

Halo 5: Guardians is okay. Its campaign is rubbish, but the multiplayer is solid thanks to the foundation it’s built upon. Warzone is a really enjoyable experience, and while combat is still mostly about tossing grenades and hitting the melee button, the whole Requisition gimmick adds some much-needed flavor to proceedings.

The latest Halo is a big deal only for hardcore Halo fans. For me the single player campaign was unbearably pompous and despite 1080p and 60 fps the visuals are not as breathtaking as they once were in Halo 4. The game builds a solid foundation for Halo 6, but it’s not one of those games you absolutely have to play. [13/2015, p.48]

With a more accessible and engaging story and solid new designs for the Prometheans, Halo 5 is a major improvement over Halo 4. Warzone is a great addition to the multiplayer, though the mode seems to have some game balance issues. [Nov 2015]
