    I would recommend giving Haimrik a go if you’re a fan and partaker of games that like to be a bit different or a bit off-beat, as it comes with a highly entertaining visual tone, funny humour in the writing and some gameplay that is inventive and unique.

    Haimrik succeeds in telling its story, and using words as very original mechanics. Sadly rough and too simplistic action gameplay harm the overall impression of the game.

    Haimrik has an immersive story but that's really all it has going for it as all you essentially do is solve simple puzzles and battle through minimalistic boss fights. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the story and I hope to see more similar storybook-style games in the future.

    Haimrik’s interesting concept is ultimately held back by its weak story and some poor gameplay elements. The game is certainly distinct, that much goes without saying, but its mechanics often fail to blend together particularly well. This isn’t a bad game by any means, on the contrary, it’s actually quite a competent puzzle-adventure game when it wants to be, but it’s hard to overlook these issues when they’re frequently in your face.

    A unique setting and unique mechanics included makes any game stand out quite considerably and in the end I end up finding a game thatA unique setting and unique mechanics included makes any game stand out quite considerably and in the end I end up finding a game that features these aspects to be very enjoyable to say the least. Haimrik is a game that does feature these desirable aspects and to say they got these aspects spot on would be a massive understatement. I must admit that I didn’t expect much of a story when it came to this game but what is delivered to you pleasantly surprised me quite a bit. The story is interesting from start to finish and the characters that are included in the story are not only intriguing but you also end up becoming quite attached to them, which is great. These characters also play a part in making the gameplay more fun and enjoyable and in the end the gameplay doesn’t have too many problems at all. In fact everything feels and plays extremely well throughout your time with the game and the unique mechanic that’s present in the game makes things stay fresh and interesting the whole way through. The only problem is that the game doesn’t have a huge amount of content for you to get to grips with and once completed you’re highly unlikely to return back to the game, which is a shame because the content that’s here is very good and more of it would’ve been absolutely brilliant. The main reason why the content is so good is down to the fantastic puzzles that are implemented into it. Each puzzle has a lot of creativeness to them and even though some of them don’t provide you with much of a challenge there’s still enough of a challenging aspect to hold your attention and make them rewarding to complete. Puzzles aren’t the only thing when it comes to the gameplay because there is also some combat sequences included as well. Unfortunately the combat elements in the game aren’t as good as the puzzles and that’s mainly because it lacks in terms of variety which means things do start to become tedious quite quickly when in combat. This is a shame because technichally everything holds up really well when in combat and more variety would’ve made the combat reach its true potential. Thankfully the presentation side of the game does however make the game reach its full potential. Visually the game has a really nice look to it and the accompanying sound design works really well with the visuals which in turn makes the game have an addictive and immersive side to it. At the end of the day Haimrik is a very good addition to the action adventure genre and it gets a lot of things right along the way and even if you only have a slight interest in game’s of this ilk then I still fully recommend that you give this game a try.… Full Review »
