    If you really want to reap the full enjoyment from this game, you should get stuck into the mystery as soon as possible. It will take a serious investment of time, which will discourage some, and the game has some shortcomings like its poorly-thought out mining mechanics, but if you stick with it, you’ll be rewarded with an engaging tale of darkness and despair.

    In Gleaner Heights you start off by moving to a new town, eager to get a start on your new life as a farmer. It’s a tough start, just like inIn Gleaner Heights you start off by moving to a new town, eager to get a start on your new life as a farmer. It’s a tough start, just like in real life, but there’s a steady sense of progression that urges you to keep farming and striving every morning despite not being sure at first what to do. Simple yet effective, this formula has hooked fans throughout the years. Gleaner Heights adds an underlying plot, scandals, contests, romance, and a bit of combat into the farming formula. The visuals, on the other hand, are reminiscent of a classic SNES style. The music is ok, but nothing about it really sticks out from other games in the farming genre. I finished the game in the middle of the 2nd year, with nothing to show for it other than some achievements. Gleaner Heights never felt too different from most of the modern and classic titles in its genre. There’s a good idea in here somewhere, I just never got to see it. Despite promising a fresh take on the farming genre, the execution just falls a bit short on tedious. Decent farming mechanics aside, the awkward combat and slow gameplay just take away from the overall experience. There should be plenty of things to do in Gleaner Heights, but the lack of tutorials and direction might even stump the most experienced video farming fans.… Expand
