Failing to ever deliver a properly good platforming experience, and coming complete with far too much clunkiness to allow for decent tactics and strategy, Ghost Sweeper on Xbox One falls far short of what is expected of a game in this time period. Yes it comes with some cutesy visuals, and delightfully delivers what could be expected from a game inspired by those of decades past, but there just isn’t enough of a modern twist to see this become a relevant purchase.

You play as John and Indy, the Ghost Sweepers. After centuries, The Dark Lord has risen from his ashes, and the undead now roams the Earth. This game contains Nine Worlds (one hidden) with a good handful of levels each. Each character plays a tiny bit differently. John has a vacuum, and Indy has a gun. Both characters have the ability to add and remove the white blocks around the stage, allowing them to traverse, and either engage or avoid the threats around the stages. The levels aren't very large, and all have the same objective, find the key, collect the loot, and escape through the door. The game isn't too intricate other than that. The enemies have decent variety, but none are too hard. Ghost Sweeper is a great time-waster, and at times can make you have to think a bit. Collecting all of the hidden secrets will unlock the hidden world, and add just a bit more variety to the game. Simple isn't the right word, but the game does show off quite a bit of simplicity in both gameplay and level design. The music is neat at first but starts to grind on you, there aren't volume controls either, just off or on. Ghost Sweepers is a great game to introduce new players to platforming, but veterans of the genre may find this title a bit too easy. Full Review »
