    The story was a bit different but interesting. Gameplay was better and better missions. There were more options for the player, which I enjoyed.

    really boring campaign with minimale mechanics, The game looks great, but a boring story will also not fix that, ending was good, but 5 hours of boring gameplay with 1 hour of fun is not worth it

    GoW in general is very nostalgic for me, especially GoW2.
    Sadly, for me that is, I still have lag to annoy me in GoW4, however there are different pros and cons this time.
    - Story Mode Most lame GoW story, with the exception of GoW5 with the "POLITICAL MESSAGE". I honesty didn't hate nor liked it. It's flat. Much like its characters. Much like its "new enemies" but with no variety.    GoW in general is very nostalgic for me, especially GoW2.
    Sadly, for me that is, I still have lag to annoy me in GoW4, however there are different pros and cons this time.

    - Story Mode
    Most lame GoW story, with the exception of GoW5 with the "POLITICAL MESSAGE".
    I honesty didn't hate nor liked it. It's flat.
    Much like its characters.
    Much like its "new enemies" but with no variety.
    The main issue is that the developers had no clue how to make GoW again, since the Locust were defeated.
    So instead making different enemies (like DB-Robots vs GOG), the tried to half ass their way to create a "new war" with the Swarm.

    Now, the swarm, have barely no explanation for their existence and the game doesn't even at least display difference from the Locust.
    They all go with skirts with shotguns screaming "human" instead of "ground walker".
    There's literally nothing. Even the enemy that holds the Bow has no unique look to him.
    Just a skirt and a hoodie.

    The main "new" characters are .. K, I guess.
    Kait looks cute (and in 5 looks like a FemiNazi)
    JD Fenix is really bland and doesn't represent the GoW theme.
    And Del.... is Finn for the new Star wars.

    I have nothing to say, just play story once and leave it there.

    - Versus
    Sweaty, Snarky and lots of old school MLG culture.
    It's amazing how Halo, who once was flooded with the MLG culture, is now filled with a different community (for the better), but Gears kept both it's original audience + Esports culture.
    I couldn't become an expect Gears play, since the Shotgun meta essentially revolved around connection speed and too much sweat.
    Back in Gears 2 + 3, I just rocked the HammerBurst.
    Now, since the sweaty community remained unlike the rest of us, the Hammerburst was removed from the default weapons category, and went back to be a power weapon.
    The power of the community man.... it's something

    - Horde (the reason why I still play this)
    Gears 2's horde was... whatever
    Gears 3's horde was in the right direction

    And 4 just brings a whole new way to play Gears4 with the classes and fortification.
    I honestly wish I could have my own premade team for harder difficulties of Horde, but I'm old now.
    But It's fine, since I can play Normal mode casually and have my 2 hours fun.

    The only issue is really with the playbase for horde, when total noobs join in, or mid quitters quit in the first rounds, it really sucks and when everybody leaves it's just no fun at all.
    If you have a friend, and one that is good at playing Gears, play split screen, it's hella fun.

    Summary:
    Gears 4 has it's different pros and cons, which are different from the other classic gears games.
    It has the best horde mode from the 5 that have
    It has an OK versus being dedicated to the OG fans
    And it has a story mode.... which it's FLAT

    Pior Gears que joguei. Protagonista bem chato, tanto quanto a história. Salvo pelo enredo da Kait, porquê o resto é bem precário. O início e meio são bem chatos em todos aspectos, o final melhora. O ponto forte desse jogo é os ambientes e só.

    this is not a great game... this does not feel like gears of war... fighting robots is not gears of war no fun for me... but has great graphics
    the story is not great but the ending prepared gears 5s story to be great... not good enough but nice work

    and As expected, the 0 ratings ALL come from people who rated Sony games a 10/10. no life detected.

    This game almost broke my heart. I love Gears of War since the first one and this game doesnt have in it. Its good for what it is but its not the GoW I used to love. Something is missing here, maybe the characters, maybe the setting (why they put robots in here?). Almost good but far from great.

    While gameplay is engaging and some characters are interesting the overall gears of war series just seems like Microsoft is Beating a dead horse I would give this game a 5 while gears of war 4 has some playability it’s not worth the time or effort required to even pop in the disc

    Big fan of the original trilogy. Finally got so time to lancer down some robots. Awesome - not!! Gears against robots is like Battlefield with aliens. Just feels wrong and out of place … And on the other side copying every mechanic from the original, even the tickers. Then the redundant dropships. Whole game feels soulless.

    I’ve toyed around with the other Gears games before but have yet to finish the original trilogy. My bf is a Gears stan so I know the story for the most part, so that helped with jumping into a new trilogy. For what Gears 4 is, it’s pretty good for the most part. The graphics hold up magnificently & are among the best on modern consoles. The gameplay is still responsive & fun aside from aI’ve toyed around with the other Gears games before but have yet to finish the original trilogy. My bf is a Gears stan so I know the story for the most part, so that helped with jumping into a new trilogy. For what Gears 4 is, it’s pretty good for the most part. The graphics hold up magnificently & are among the best on modern consoles. The gameplay is still responsive & fun aside from a few caveats. Basically anytime you aren’t taking cover & shooting things, you’re doing something to break up the gameplay a bit & I was never a fan of these sections tbh. Towards the end with the catapult section really annoyed me. Also the game just kinda ends? After the “final boss” if you could call it that, there’s a cutscene then.. end credits. Kind of a momentum killer honestly. Also the banter between the new cast of characters can be grating at times, I hate hate HATE dialogue where everybody is a smartass and has to one up the other person with a dumb comeback, especially when it’s not needed. It was my biggest problem with Days Gone & it was grating here too. I was begging for them to shut up at times. I feel like most Gears fans aren’t gonna disagree with me on the new games just not being as good as the originals. Seems like that tends to happen with Microsoft’s biggest franchises after they hit the 3rd game, if you know you know. HALO?? Good lord.     70/100. ok overall game, amazing graphics, but kind of underwhelming for my second attempt at an iconic xbox franchise. Basically a gallery shooter, that at times gets so monotonous, you'll just dread seeing long corridors, because it's the same **** of enemies again and again. Game also has a decent pvp, something I can see myself pouring some hours in, not the best, but very serviceable. To end, why wasn't the game more of act 5, and not 2-4? why didn't the game have more of the mech-sequences/ bike sequences/ even the that boss fight that actually has depth (the one where you shoot the generators..second to last?). Why was the majority of the game mind-numbingly boring spray and pray fest. I probably will never understand the gears franchise..… Expand

This is weird because if youre a first time gears player I think its deserving of a solid 8.5 to 9 overall score but having beat the previous gears it feels more of the same and its gotten dull. I made a comment about God of war saying that it was "the refresh everyone wanted that nobody could've imagined". We all wanted something fresh with that game but what the devs gave us was beyond anything we could dream i feel. GEARS needs an answer like that...the mobility has to change, the cover shoot needs to be revamped , polished or removed.....

    Gears is starting to feel like button command action sequences instead of a fluid 3rd person shooter. I started Gears 5 and stopped because it felt more of the same. I trust the stlry is better and the visuals are spectacular but needed a break after beating 4 and not feeling satisfied in the end.    … Expand

    Gears of War 4 was fun but the lack of interesting new characters, besides one or two, kept it from feeling great. Game play was fun, as usual for a Gears game. Interesting story.

    Ну сюжет основной тут не плохой, но и не супер хороший. Весьма обычный, даже в каком-то плане никакой. Однако, у этого сюжета задача не рассказать увлекательную историю с твистами, а задача раскрыть лор, героев главных и показать грамотную смену поколений. И в этом игра отлично справляется. Тут клевые диалоги между персонажи, отличные камео старых героев, и весьма забавный юмор. ГеймплейНу сюжет основной тут не плохой, но и не супер хороший. Весьма обычный, даже в каком-то плане никакой. Однако, у этого сюжета задача не рассказать увлекательную историю с твистами, а задача раскрыть лор, героев главных и показать грамотную смену поколений. И в этом игра отлично справляется. Тут клевые диалоги между персонажи, отличные камео старых героев, и весьма забавный юмор. Геймплей же - изменился, во первых тут ты лучше чувствуешь оружие, анимации стали куда плавнее и приятнее ( например, во второй части были рваные анимации врагов, они могли резко выглянуть, ты навелся, выстрелил и он сражу исчез - нет никакой плавности, тут же все ок). Само перемещение стало удобнее и интуитивнее. Ну играется комфортно. Насчет врагов - они частично новые. И они часто заставляют тебя покидать укрытия и маневрировать, что увеличивает динамику и заставляет думать что делаешь. Некоторые файты так что вообще замечательные, ибо там прям появляется хороший челлендж справиться с противником используя все доступные средства. Также по мелочам были доработаны механики, к примеру раньше нельзя было бегать с тяжелым оружие, тут можно. По тону игра стала мрачнее и потеряла всю серость второй части (это потеряла уже третья часть, ибо она была оч красочная и рили красивая, но не была мрачной), весь мрак портят веселые диалоги героев. Также игра круто играется с окружением предоставляя новые возможности использования динамичного окружения для уничтожения роя. И еще тут очень много эффектнейших моментов аля call of duty. И игра выглядит потрясно, очень красивая. Такое ощущение, что игра больше демонстрирует технические возможности новых консолей и показывает какие игры красивые, разрушаемые и вообще впечатляющие с новой грамотной режиссурой. Тут нормально объясняют как появился рой, ибо саранчу же истребили в третьей части, тут показывают грамотное изменение старых геров и их блин грамотно добавили в повествование, а не будто вырваны из старого контекста. И плюс их не убивают, что было бы издевательски по уродски по отношению к фанатам. Тут происходит планомерная смена поколений, тут такие задатки я бы сказал. И появление старых героев в сюжете просто умопомрачительно. Вот так они должны появляться, а не будто стариков притащили на чужую войну. Но есть минусы: а именно новый противник - роботы. Им посвящено слишком много времени, ты с ними встречаешься два акта из 5. А птм уже ток с роем из-за чего кажется, что игра все не может начаться, а когда началась слишком быстро закончилась. Но я понимаю, это нужно было чтобы новым игрокам раскрыть лор и вести в курс дела. Игра выглядит будто немножко перетянутое вступление. Но тут есть рили несколько просто крышесносных уровней, респект - это я явно надолго запомню.… Expand

    Es un juego muy pobre, con falta de creatividad, se noto que a TC solo le importaba vender que el bien de su comunidad y tener un gran juego y por lo menos tener un apoyo tan grande como lo tuvo epic games, su multijugador al final quedó decente no bueno pero jugable, tiene una campaña aburrida muy genérica lo único bueno quizá es el final, sus eventos y actualizaciones fueron soloEs un juego muy pobre, con falta de creatividad, se noto que a TC solo le importaba vender que el bien de su comunidad y tener un gran juego y por lo menos tener un apoyo tan grande como lo tuvo epic games, su multijugador al final quedó decente no bueno pero jugable, tiene una campaña aburrida muy genérica lo único bueno quizá es el final, sus eventos y actualizaciones fueron solo reutilizar todo lo de Gears of War 3 en si no hubo creatividad en el juego y hasta reutilizaron los mismos mapas del propio juego solo poniendo uno de día y otro de noche y por último sus precios de la tienda eran muy elevados para lo que daban, sus season pass no servía para nada era un total robo y al final todo lo "exclusivo" lo regalaron, mucho dinero desperdiciado, en fin es jugable pero muy malo a la vez… Expand

    Well, very good game, but though they put an evident effort into refreshing the licence (stunning graphics, new background, characters, staging etc.) the global feeling with the gameplay and even the scenario is : well, just another Gears game. Understand me well, it's a good game, but still too close to its numerous predecessors. The scenario is a bit expeditive too. Ses scripts, son côté beauf de fonderie, son lancer de grenade maladroit et ses quelques QTE... quoiqu'ici les QTE sont devenus heureusement bien plus rares.

    J'ai donc abordé ce quatrième épisode (non le cinquième en    Je ne suis pas fan des mécaniques de Gears of War avec ses rechargements millimétrés et cette impression de diriger un semi-remorque de 38 tonnes en guise de personnage... Ses scripts, son côté beauf de fonderie, son lancer de grenade maladroit et ses quelques QTE... quoiqu'ici les QTE sont devenus heureusement bien plus rares.

    J'ai donc abordé ce quatrième épisode (non le cinquième en fait avec Judgement) sans espérance ni illusion, plus par curiosité que réel intérêt. Après un début tout de même fort mollasson, le jeu trouve néanmoins son rythme de croisière, un rythme qui va crescendo et qui réserve de manière inattendue quelques surprises...

    A l'insu de mon plein gré, me voilà donc happé par ce jeu-couloir de plus en plus furieux et spectaculaire, car à l'instar d'un triple A hollywoodien, Gears of War 4 met les bouchées doubles, puis les triples et... les quadruples avec un grand final qui met les pieds dans le plat à coups d'explosions et de grands "splatchs" (attention, ça tache). Entretemps, il multiplie indéniablement de belles séquences toujours aussi violentes alors que les personnages disent de plus en plus de gros mots, sans doute un peu énervés (à force).

    Il faut dire que la VF est toujours excellente avec notamment la voix de José Luccioni, doubleur émérite bien connu d'Al Pacino... et du père Marcus depuis le début, un Marcus devenu un papy depuis toutes ces années ! Dans cette escouade qui part en pique-nique, le fiston James a une bonne tête de vainqueur, son pote noir est toujours sacrément demeuré et la cocotte Kait (sans compter sa maman pas jouasse) est une "bad ass" carrément grognasse.

    L'humour est bas de plafond pour ne pas dire bien con (idéal pour un dîner) mais colle à l'ambiance générale tandis que la fin, pour un jeu de ce calibre, se révèle un brin... étonnante. Les pétoires restent fidèles à elles-mêmes, c'est-à-dire ni vraiment maniables ni agréables à utiliser : c'est du "classique" pour un Gears et toujours aussi lent et lourdaud...

    La technique n'appelle que des éloges par contre et pour une fois, le moteur Unreal 4 donne toute sa (dé)mesure ici, lui habituellement à la masse et la ramasse, surtout sur consoles. Mais là, que ce soit en 4K-30 ou encore mieux pour un jeu de cet acabit, en 1080-60 (les deux modes proposés sur la Xbox One X), le Gears of War 4 montre ses muscles et ne déçoit pas. Du coup, on peut pardonner sans doute la place gargantuesque qu'il exige : 117 Go pour une campagne couloir scriptée et quelques cartes multi-joueurs ! un record ! signalons que la partie sonore est très soignée elle aussi et participe évidemment au spectacle.

    Finalement et contre toute attente, le Gears of War 4 est assurément le meilleur de tous les Gears... un divertissement bourrin et beauf, souvent lourdaud mais étonnamment amusant ici et là, après des débuts très poussifs dans cette nouvelle campagne... Un couloir plutôt sympathique donc, ce qui n'est déjà pas mal !    … Expand

    The Coalition has managed to successfully bring every great elements from previous games into a new setting. Whether you go for single-player, multiplayer or horde mode, GoW4 hast plenty to offer. The visuals are stunning and the gameplay is the best in the series thus far; and despite shortcomings in the story and development of characters, GoW4 is easily one of the best third-person shooters of this generation.

    The Coalition’s development team did a fantastic job adopting the Gears of War series. They’ve preserved what makes it special in our hearts and added in new bells and whistles which are absolutely welcome.
