The discovery of this natural resource drawn directly from the planet's life force marked the dawn of a new era, and now the energy sustains the lives of people across the world. However, the Shinra Company has monopolized mako production, and in doing so established a powerful hegemony--its influence reaching the far corners of the globe.

Cloud, a former member of Shinra's military organization, SOLDIER, joins the anti-Shinra resistance group AVALANCHE, despite caring little for their motives. During one of the group's attempts to stop the company, they learn of the return of Sephiroth, Cloud's nemesis, and that with his reemergence, the planet is in greater danger than anyone had expected.

With the fate of the world riding on their success, Cloud and his allies set out to quell this deadly threat.

Playing Final Fantasy VII on Xbox feels like an important event. The game is still brilliant and can shame some of the modern big titles of the genre.

Living history of the videogame scene. Final Fantasy VII comes for the first time to Xbox with the same game that was released in 1997 in Spain. It's an opportunity for new players to discover a product that forever changed role-playing games and left its mark on the memory of those who enjoyed it in their day.

Finally bolting from the Sony Stables, the epic adventure of Cloud and company has lost little of its lustre over the years, retaining the complex narrative elements and magic customisation features that give modern games a run for their money. The sound bug issues are unfortunate, and inexcusable given the age of this version of the game, but what is retained remains as great in 2019 as it was upon release.

Anyone looking for nostalgia will thoroughly enjoy FF VII even though there are a few modern touches in regards to edge smoothing and resolution, it still manages to capture the original feeling. Final Fantasy VII again makes me realise why I love this game so much, and wonder why I never took the time to finish it originally despite my work and life schedule taking a vast turn just after the games release. I will admit I had forgotten some parts of the story and to experience those parts again was a nostalgia feast that has stood the test of time. For me the presentation side of the game has also stood the test of time and whilst it does look dated despite the small improvements, no one forgets the sound and game they fell in "love" with so many years ago. In terms of the gameplay I think the game has aged well and playing through the content stayed fun and interesting through my actual completion of the game for the 1st time in 22 years. It was also nice to see a couple of new additions present in the gameplay because the speed mechanic in particular gives the gameplay a more modern feel and it also stops things from getting tedious. Final Fantasy VII is an absolute must buy for any fans of the RPG genre in 1997. In fact the game is that good that I would recommend it to people who aren’t fans of this specific genre to add it to your library for the low cost of purchasing. Final Fantasy VII doesn’t suffer with many if any problems at all. For this reason I highly recommend giving this game a try especially if like me, you never finished what you started 22 years ago, Expand
