    It seems to be one of EA Sport's most popular titles, yet it continues to disappoint each year. Looking past the new and interesting "The Journey" mode (which ends up lasting not as long as many might have hoped), the game suffers from frustratingly bland career mode options which seem to be left behind in development in the game each year. So what do EA do during the year they have to create their game? Yes, it seems that they have been able to upgrade their graphics to make the game look a little bit more bright and colourful, but honestly other than a few tweaks to gameplay to make it a more pacy experience, the game lacks any real innovation. I don't see how they can continue to push away from improving their game modes and adding beneficial new features. Why does customisation lack so much? Why can't we create our own teams in the game? Why not allow us to create a team that can be used in manager mode, or simply add the ability to customise kits and sponsors throughout the years in manager mode? These are only small details that could help the game out. The game could be expanded on so much more, yet the game is stuck in the past. Despite the large sale numbers, FIFA continues to disappoint with a real absence of any substance to keep you interested.… Expand

    The gameplay is honestly amazing and doesn't have many flaws, but if you play online, the scripting completely ruins the experience. I have never see such a scripted game in my entire life. I've played about 40-50 games so far and I would have to say that at least 70% of them were scripted and at least 50% of them were heavily scripted, either it's in my favor or in my opponent's favor. IfThe gameplay is honestly amazing and doesn't have many flaws, but if you play online, the scripting completely ruins the experience. I have never see such a scripted game in my entire life.     Dissapointing

    This should be FIFA 18 Beta. Everything has so much to be worked on it's insane. The Journey is the bigger dissapointment. He doesn't seem real and barely any of his teammates seem real either. Apart from Bernard and Gallo at the start. But Gallo seems to just dissapear and the only living characters seem to be your family, your agent, Danny Williams, Bernard and Walker.    Dissapointing

    The GAMEPLAY is awful too. It's so easy to pierce through the defense with just a few passes, and the defense don't have a chance. If you get close enough to the goalkeeper you should score, BPL teams are all that it takes to have a good team so there is no creativity in the squads this year at all. I'm in division 6 at the moment, but GOD have I hated playing this. This is a downgrade from FIFA 17.    … Expand

    In the eighth generation, FIFA gameplay on any remains unchanged.
    No change has been made in modeling. There have been no changes in the animation No change in the physics of the game No change has been made in the Department of Physics and spin the ball.     For example, no distinction between players such as Toni Kroos and the rest of the players in terms of passing and running and not passing style. Something that PES 2017 is well designed.
    FIFA 17 gameplay in a very backward. And the version of FIFA 12 to the next is not any fundamental change in the core gameplay of this game.
    Unfortunately, the gameplay by changing the graphics engine has been no fundamental change

    Frostbite engine has been a major revolution for the game.

    Finally there is a higher skill gap between players online.

    New additions to Career Mode are interesting. Although I feel like it was something that could have been done much earlier.

    This game makes me less frustrated than previous versions which is a plus point.

    Doesn't seem bad. Legend mode... great idea.. but so far the pattern has been.

    2 minutes of playing football, 10 minutes of cut scenes (unskippable), 2 minutes of playing football, 10 minutes of cut scenes..., 2 seconds of pressing a button, 10 minutes of cutscenes. Please please please let me play the game!!!

    Obviously obsessed to show off some graphics engine.

    The journey was a great idea and addition to a fifa game whose offline side was getting rather bland and repetitive. Decent voice acting and the Frostbite engine really makes a difference.

    Big improvement of graphics, physics and overall more polished. However, various problems in ultimate team dull the overall experience, and despite the addition of the journey, single player modes are still repetitive and dull

    The journey is a good addition, but the graphics and gameplay must be better. We are in an era of nex-gen, and looking at games like NBA2k17 why cant EA do something that really do justice to the power and capability of PS4 and XboxOne. Really thinks they should do much better.

    Average game that has good graphics, but still needs work to catch up to quality graphics of PES17. Still has better game play mechanics and is a pretty authentic soccer game, and even casual players can get into it easily.

    Good improvement on 16 which imo was an appaling game, no idea how that managed to get out of testing let alone be released onto public. However still annoying glitches and bugs present like players walking through each other ect which really needs sorting out. I would say worth buying if you can get it for half price from the sale.     Overall different year, same FIFA, career mode is as boring as it has been, but the positives is that there has been the introduction of the Journey which I have personally enjoyed. The graphics are amazing thanks to Frostbite. Other than that same old, same old.

    Worth buying for the glitches, but I guess anyone could really just find those compilations on YouTube for a fraction of the price.
    Also, maybe, if you have friends who only play this franchise but they live too far away to visit in person because gas is too expensive and your Mom won't let you drive her mini-van anyway since you accidentally broke the door last time Which Was Totally Not    Worth buying for the glitches, but I guess anyone could really just find those compilations on YouTube for a fraction of the price.

    The frostbite engine certainly makes fifa 17 look amazingly realistic but that does not make it realistic gameplay wise. Arcade style football still remains and set pieces have been annoyingly changed. Journey mode is a decent effort into story elements but ultimately proved pointless since there are limited options to choose from. Ultimate team mode has a decent change such as squad building challenges which is a nice touch. Pro clubs mode has perhaps the most changes since fifa 16 and I enjoyed customizing kits and crests for my very own personal club to play with friends. The rest of the modes are repeats that we have all seen in previous fifa titles. Overall, amazing graphics, shallow gameplay, some improvements in game modes and leaves me thinking I wanted more this year.… Expand

    Lo mismo de todos los años, lo que debería ser una actualización del juego por 15-20€ se convierte en un juego nuevo por 60 y tantos euros, cuando lo único que hacen es mejorar algo los gráficos (poco), actualizar las plantillas y añadir alguna "pijadilla" al gameplay.

    Le doy un 6 siendo generoso.

That aside we can't argue that the game is getting more realistic every year with very nice graphics with the help of the Frostbite engine. One of the new things EA added was "The Journey" it does start to get fun and i love the voice acting and cutscenes but once you play a few matches the tension and drama really isn't there until the end of the season the lack of cutscenes are a bit disappointed I actually really like them but once you are done there really is nothing else to do with the Journey but you do a get a special card for completing the Journey which is nice touch from EA. overall I love the Journey idea I wish they could added more content for it otherwise Fifa 17 is still the best football/soccer game out there so if you can't choose over pes/fifa/other then I would personally go with Fifa it's more fun and the gameplay is miles better.     It seems that it is the game that chooses who wins. In the amateur the difficulty is low, and in the semipro goes up a lot.
    This is bad for anyone who wants to learn to play well and does not want to have a very high or very low challenge.

    This could've been the best FIFA game with a brand new story mode as well as the other good game modes that come with FIFA but ultimately was disappointing. The story mode ended up being a player career mode in disguise with a few cutscenes, pro clubs and career mode continued to have no changes despite being very popular game modes.     Normally I would think it`s a typical FIFA game. If you have one, you have all. But the story mode is a nice change to the predecessors. Here you can play as young talent Alex Hunter on his way to the top. That`s a pretty fine novelty for a series that`s known for yearly repetition.

    FIFA 17 makes gameplay far more realistic than ever before, this is by delivering amazing details and a massive leap in its graphics fidelity in addition to more game modes than ever. It is definitely the ultimate football experience.

    Sure, PES 2017 may once again rule the play through the midfield, but FIFA 17 has so much to offer off the pitch that it’s difficult to not be satisfied. As long as you can get your head around the possession-focused style of play in FIFA, you’ll have no qualms with its gameplay, but it’s everything else that really sells it this year.

    The impact of changes (new engine, story mode) is not so crucial at the end, especially for the course of matches themselves, but it doesn't change the fact that FIFA 17 is the nicest, funniest and, regarding the content, also the richest game in the whole series. It's just not a revolution. [Issue #268]
