Farmer's Dynasty is a title that, although it has a good premise, fails in something basic as it is part of its gameplay.

Farmer’s Dynasty on Xbox One a solid and interesting addition to the farming sim market. I like the repairing elements of gameplay (probably more than I should), and you can easily invest hours and hours playing the game, especially when going deep with the RPG elements. The actual farming moments don’t innovate enough though, and there is no getting away from the fact that it is a big old grind.

You have inherited a farm from your grandfather, and being from the city you have no idea how to be a farmer, and the farm itself could use some repair. After patching the place up, you find yourself in need of equipment for the farm. As you venture out to meet the neighbors you find they too have a bit of disrepair, and could use your skills. In return, most of them will have useful equipment for you as payment for a job well done. After meeting the town, and doing a few side quests, you are ready to farm! Whatever gear you don't have you should be able to buy or lease at this point as well. Fill your field, and tend grain or vegetables, reap your harvest and sell your goods. With a large free-roam map full of neighbors, shops, and places to sell your crops, Farmer's Dynasty has elaborated the Farm Sim life into an adventure in agriculture and manual labor. Like any Sim, each task takes its own time, and you have the ability to rest, and pass the time however needed, so you don't have to idly wait around. I was unable to customize my avatar, and the graphics are a bit dated feeling, but overall the game runs well and offers an abundance of tasks to complete. Farmer's Dynasty breaths a different kind of Life into a Farm Sim, and fans of the genre shouldn't pass this title up! Expand

Although the game is called "Farmer's" Dynasty, you are actually NOT playing a farming sim. You are playing a social sim/ farming sim/ lifeAlthough the game is called "Farmer's" Dynasty, you are actually NOT playing a farming sim. You are playing a social sim/ farming sim/ life sim hybrid, and from there everything goes downhill. First you need to "earn" your old farming equipment by doing chores for lazy neighbours (fix houses/barns/greenhouses). Due to a bug my seeder quest wouldn't start, no matter how often i visited the location. Once you earn a plough some people ask you to plough fields for them (a time consuming chore). Furthermore, the game has a second way to keep you busy: getting social points. You can earn these by talking to people, fixing their broken homes and ploughing their fields. You see the drill? Unfortunately, the game is poorly optimized and looks and plays like an x360 game. Social interactions are robotic, a lot of pop in and models look poor. Farming takes forever and doesn't reward much (5000-7000 per field in the beginning), while new equipment costs an arm and a leg. Apart from the traditional farming crops on the field/greenhouse, you can also keep hens for the eggs, milk cows, keep bees, go fishing, pick apples, pick mushrooms, do side quests (transport/plough/repair/delivery), meet new people, get married and have children. Lots to do, but most of it are just chores to keep you busy till the next harvest. Conclusion: if you can get the game cheap and enjoy a low budget farming/social/life sim, there's some fun to be had. If you get bored easily by the same things to do, steer clear. Expand
