Emma: Lost in Memories on Xbox One is a solid platformer, but it is certainly aimed at the more hardcore gamer; those who like to find, and enjoy, a proper challenge. Some of the controls can be less accurate than I would like, especially in regards to the climbing mechanic, but there is definitely a couple of hours of decent gameplay here for those with the staying power and skills.

EMMA: Lost in Memories simple premise means it is easy to get to grips with, but some vague collision detection and dull visuals/music lead to it all round feeling rather bland and frustrating to play.

EMMA: Lost in Memories may just be the most frustrating game that I played so far this year. With its clumsy controls and overly unforgiving stages that require many attempts to merely complete, I can't recommend this to anyone but masochists.

The ambiance of the music and the surreal environments create a relaxing zen-like feeling, while you grind your teeth at the complexity of the rather short levels. You only truly need one button to play Emma: Lost in Memories. Press a button to start moving, then Emma runs by herself, then you press a button to jump, and twice to double jump. Emma can also wall jump too! But be forewarned, the levels disappear behind you as soon as you touch a platform or wall! Top this off with perfectly timed jumps and a trove of other dangers, and you have one tough game. Emme: Lost in Memories has a dark foreboding overtone as you learn what's going on to Emma. This game is not for the weak of heart, by the fifth level I was beyond frustrated with trying to wall jump my way to victory, but once I figured out what I really needed to do the satisfying "Ah" of a well-timed epiphany found it's way from my lips. The Calming mood seems to keep the rage babies at bay, but this game will take you for a spin, and leave the tank on empty. Masters of timing will find this game very satisfying, but casual gamers may have their hands full with this title. Expand
