Huge leap from the first one. The graphics are wicked! and Knockout mode... oooohhh damn that knockout mode, absolutely amazing, so much fun! and getting to fight with Mike Tyson! so good! The new ground/clinch controls are much better this time around as well, and the addition of Ultimate Team is really fun... Definitely the Best MMA Game EVER! Nice one EA!

Not only a great improvement over the original but also includes a mode which reminds me of Xbox 360 classic Fight Night Round 3. Knockout Mode removes the ground and clinch games, leaving only striking, and its rules are simple: punch the other person until their head separates from their shoulders like a big flesh balloon.

People seem to forget how broken the THQ undisputed system was....while I MUCH preferred the ground game in the THQ system this grew on me during the beta. There are tactics and strategy involved....and until you get that and understand how to play the game you are going to think it is broken or not fun. There is definitely a learning curve to it.
You are going to feel cheated, abused and beat down most games until you learn how to fight. there is a counter to everything. Don't let your noob status affect how you rate the game.....just because you suck doesn't mean the game is bad. it is a SOLID 8.

Im a big UFC fan and believe that a UFC game should NOT be arcadey and should be totally in depth as the sport theyre trying to emulate. With that said let me explain why EA UFC is trash and Im crying right now for spending $60...

Simply put, the gameplay is horrible. The ground game is the most frustrating thing on the planet. Where as UFC undisputed 3 evolved its gameplay into a fair and concise struggle between you and the AI/live opponent, EAs ufc 2 is made complicated by having menus within menus for how you want to transition or submit your opponent. Its horrible especially if you are in the bad spot, you dont really know when your going to counter your opponents transition. There is no tell. In undisputed, you could wrap up your opponent to avoid striking and then go for a transition into a better position when you deem theres an opening. Everything is organic and instantaneous rather being slowed down by little menus for every transition yiu have to make.

Menus are ugly and bland. Music sounds like it was put together by the jonas bros instead of being an onslaught of heavy metal in your face music like undisputed. Graphics are really pretty but thats just the only saving grace for this game. They have a huge roster i believe of over 150 characters but their differences are few theyre actually fighting.

EA put that stupid ultimate team BS when it should have no business being there in the first place. It adds NOTHING significant to the game unlike fifa where you want to have the best players on one team, in this version of ultimate team you get little yugioh cards to power up your teams stats. STUPID. Ultimate team CANNOT work for this game because the actual character count is a thousand times smaller than all the players you can collect for ultimate team in fifa. EA IS TRYING TO SHOVE IT IN THIS GAME.

I could go on and on. Where the hell is pride? Where is my wardrobe of brands like affliction, venom, tapout, etc... as opposed to the ONE boring sponsor of Reebok for everyone. Where is defend my title arcade ladder?

Guys, please take my word for it and if you must have a ufc game, keep your copy of undisputed 3, because that what it is exactly, UNDISPUTED until further notice... the fact of the matter is, i would be happy if EA decided to copy undisputed 3 mode by mode and just added better graphics. This is the third MMA title that EA has tried to make ( remember EA MMA) and i cant fathom why any of there devs have not sat down and plated undisputed and realize that theyre game is crap

This game is PURE garbage. MMA is a sport where submissions finish a good number of fights yet they are impossible to finish in this game. Perhaps some of the fat loser programmers who made this game but obviously know nothing about grappling need to be choked, arm barred and kimura'ed to understand what even half way decent grapplers can do. This game sucks.

Liked the first UFC, but career mode in UFC 2 is broken. Youre going against lvl 100 AI when you're lvl 70 yourself??? Needless to say fighting is very much up to chanses in UFC 2, if you're lucky you might KO your oponent and earn the belt in the end.

My stats was 90 in striking, 70 grapling and 65 submission, I met Jon Jones with 100, 100 and 100.. I was lucky and KOed him first round, got the belt. In the rematch however, he murdered me almost even when I had more in striking, grappling and sub than before. Got to say it was more frustrating than fun to play, not just because of the poor matchup in career mode, but also because of the baadly designed control system, its so unresponsive and broken.

I think this game is more fit to play with friends than solo.

I give this 1 out of 10. The 1 point is for more game modes than before. I REALLY regret paying for this game!!!

Its one of those games where people exploit character creation by making tall players with great reach, and as usual, the people who spend more money advance way further than grinding for cards in Ultimate Team. If you are a casual gamer like me, the satisfaction of knocking people out, exploiting weaknesses and building your team in Ultimate Team mode is very fun. Career mode and the extra modes on top of online play don't give much depth however so I wouldn't expect to be play the game for too long (other than to improve your team).

Great game if you can get it cheap, but others its got a steep learning curve for those who don't know the sport well

TheSay what you will about EA, but I was pretty excited when they picked up the UFC license and released the original EA Sports UFC a few years ago. With a sport as complex and fluid as MMA, I thought they had the best chance to get it right. After a solid first attempt with the original, I was even more excited for EA UFC 2 to come out to see where they were headed with the franchise. The roster feels like it has a lot more depth right out of the box, with several lesser-known international fighters in the mix with big name stars. I'm indifferent towards the Mike Tyson, etc. DLC fighters, but for people that like that sort of stuff it gives the opportunity to create some fun fantasy matchups. The rendering of each fighter in the game is fantastic - probably the best representation of a real-life athlete in a video game. Fortunately, they also applied a similar level of detail to the refs, ring girls, and even ole' Uncle Dana White However, my excitement started to fade once I started actually getting in the cage in the custom game, career, and online modes. The stand-up game is still largely the same as the last installation, but improved collision detection and an increased focus on parrying/countering keep things fresh and dissuade people from just button mashing. Once the fight hits the ground, though, everything goes out the window. I found the new grappling system to be really annoying, with each encounter feeling like more of a frustrating guessing game than a tense jiu-jitsu battle. Of course you could avoid the whole thing altogether with the new knockout mode, but at that point you might as well dust off an old copy of Fight Night. Ranked/unranked online connections were consistently pretty pitiful, with lag throughout and more than just a few mid-match disconnections occurring right in the heat of battle. Career mode is a little more streamlined in this iteration, partially due to UFC's Reebok sponsorship eliminating individual sponsors from advertising all over your walkout or fight gear, so all there is really left for you to do is train/fight/repeat. I'd really like to see EA fix career mode in the future because in its current state it isn't terribly realistic. Whether you're riding an 8 fight win streak and still fighting unranked scrubs on the undercard, or you're being forced to retire in your mid 20's, there's not a whole lot that makes sense here. If the devs want to extend the length of the career mode, it would make a lot more sense to have some sort of fictitious minor-league promotion to get the basics down before moving on to TUF and then onto the UFC. Lose too much in the UFC? Go back to the minors and perform to get resigned. The absence of having the opportunity to join different fight camps, do press, etc. also adds to the monotony of the train/fight grind. The challenge curve in career mode can also be pretty brutal, with actual fighters progressing their skills as time goes on as well - it's a little jarring to go up against a guy who is a lower to mid tier fighter in real life, but is suddenly 99 OVR in-game. Seems like that sort of thing should be relegated to ultimate team. All in all, UFC 2 isn't a bad game, but certainly isn't a great one. The overall blandness of the career mode, online connectivity issues, and sharp learning curve burned me out well before it probably should have and left me with a strong case of buyer's remorse. Take downs are extremely slow and do not flow with the speed of the game at all. Maybe UFC 3 will be different, but I wont get my hopes up.

Horrendous game!! Terrible gameplay! The biggest issue with this game would be the reach, if you have a fighter who has a short reach good **** luck trying to win, as soon as you step in close to attack or close the distance the hit box pushes you away therefore not being able to attack at all. EA really likes to ruin games

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. UFC 2 has great graphics and amazing reactive gameplay. Not to mention the insanely FUN career mode yes I said (Fun) If its too hard for you then try changing your difficulty yes this game can piss you off but deal with it just because its a very good ea game. Just as good as NBA LIVE 18 and better than any ufc game that 2k could make. Yes sometimes I will lose the championship but its part of the game its very simple Punch Kick Ground & Pound + Blocking Really You wont have to use a Submission once . It is a great game. Expand

EA Sports makes its second appearance in the UFC’s famed Octagon. The fighter’s sophomore effort is solid: it has good technique, impresses visually and feels like the real thing, although its ground game could be better. UFC 2 is a contender in the making. [May 2016]

This year’s UFC feels like it improves in some key areas – overall quality, game modes and such – but not enough to really feel a great leap from the past.
