    Dying: Reborn isn't a particularly scary game, especially since you can't die. But it does possess a delightfully odd atmosphere and lots of fun puzzles to solve. This style of game, with all its indie seams and quirks, won't be for everybody. But if you can attune yourself to its quirky presentation (or just want those easy Achievements), Dying: Reborn won't kill your good time.

    If you like a good puzzler, then Dying: Reborn is the champion of the conundrum, with twists and brain scratchers that will keep you occupied throughout. The controls are clumsy and don’t quite work right and the soundtrack when combined with the voice over is just plain annoying. But all that said, if you like the idea of being stuck in an escape room and like cerebral horror, then this could be for you.

    Unfortunately, what starts out as a proper room escape game quickly flops due to the abysmal story as the uninteresting characters and the confusing plot leave players disconnected from the game overall.

    I’ve heard good and bad things about Dying: Reborn and I must admit that when I was playing the game there were good and bad things about theI’ve heard good and bad things about Dying: Reborn and I must admit that when I was playing the game there were good and bad things about the game, and at times the bad can outweigh the good which is a shame. I will say however that I thought the puzzles in the game were some of the most intricately designed puzzles I’ve ever played, and I was very thankful with the amount of effort that’s gone in here. Unfortunately though the controls when taking part in these puzzles can be very awkward at times, and in my opinion the controls cause frustration where there doesn’t need to be. I also got frustrated with how slow you travel in the game and I was amazed that they didn’t include a run button. Some people I’ve spoke to said they didn’t like the story in the game, but I actually quite enjoyed it and the voice over work did a great job of creating a strange and weird atmosphere. Speaking about the atmosphere I thought the strange vibe was done really well and in my opinion it kind of gave the game a unique feel. What didn’t feel unique though was the inventory, and the inventory did a great job of annoying me because it just feels clunky and unresponsive throughout. The presentation side of the game is nothing special, but it does just enough to make an impact. Visually the game can look a bit ugly at times but the accompanying sound design is actually pretty good and it sets the scene very well at times. At the end of the day I’m not sure which genre Dying: Reborn wants to be in, and this confusion actually takes away from the game. I definitely wouldn’t call it a horror game because it isn’t scary, but I would probably call it a puzzle adventure game and when it’s like this I actually enjoyed the game. Dying: Reborn is either a game you’ll like or dislike and because of that I can’t fully recommend it, which is a shame because it does have a few unique moments.… Expand
