    Driving essentials XE for the Xbox One is not your typical release for a home console. It's a driving instruction simulation that puts you behind the wheel in 10 different lessons in driving and then adds in an open world driving experience where you can change factors like the time of day, the weather conditions as well as the environment you are driving in from the city to the ruralDriving essentials XE for the Xbox One is not your typical release for a home console. It's a driving instruction simulation that puts you behind the wheel in 10 different lessons in driving and then adds in an open world driving experience where you can change factors like the time of day, the weather conditions as well as the environment you are driving in from the city to the rural country side. Complete with paved roads all the way to dirt and gravel environments. It teaches you the potential dangers of daily driving and how to become a defensive driver. The game penalizes you for bad driving habits and rewards you mildly for good driving habits. While not developed to be a game, I did have fun with it in completing the lessons and the achievements within the game takes about 2-3 hours depending on your driving knowledge and patience and control within your environment that overly tries to make you make mistakes. One course even shows you how distracting it is to use your phone while driving. The simulation is well done and despite a few glitches I found in the rural areas where cars would stop moving at and intersection and you would have to wait for it to disappear to continue driving, or being penalized for a turn signal you did have on the simulator was fun. Highly recommended for upcoming or new drivers. Experienced drivers can also find a refresher on what we've been doing for so many years and often times just do automatically from experience. In the end it's well done and a lot of value for anyone that drives to check out.… Expand

    As a tool for the inexperienced driver looking to learn the way of the road in America, taking in real world experiences in a safe environment, Driving Essentials on Xbox One is just about fine; although even then the lack of content is an issue. But for anyone else, it’s a total waste of time. The visuals, the audio, the huge price tag and the problems with the AI and penalty system will fail to ever really draw in any prospective new driver, even if they fully understand that at no point in time is this ever being marketed as a game.
