    Drift Zone offers up deep customization and a diverse selection of tracks and missions. It’s unfortunate, however, that this rests upon an experience that just isn’t as innovative and exciting as it should be. It doesn’t help matters that the game looks both dated and bland throughout the entirety of play. Drifting should be fun and rewarding, but Drift Zone fails to truly nail those targets.

    Ultimately there's not a lot to say about Drift Zone. It does one thing serviceably, but that one thing is done better in bigger games in abundance on Xbox One. As an Android title, you may have fun on a bus or in a waiting room with Drift Zone, but on your home console, it's hard to overlook just how sparse the gameplay suite is. Diehard fans of tuning and tweaking cars may enjoy a half dozen hours or so here, but for most people, Drift Zone is simply an unremarkable experience that makes a strong case for curation of the Xbox digital storefront.

    At the end of it all, Drift Zone truly feels like an unfinished game. It lacks the polish that many other current racing games have, and doesn’t bring anything new or interesting to set it apart from those games. The lack of a tutorial makes the game complicated for those new to the concept and puzzling for those who know the basic mechanics, but not how to implement them here. The only real variety comes from the cars which unfortunately don’t really vary at all. Even when considering the obvious price difference, if you’re looking for a game with strong customization including varied tuning options, a catchy soundtrack and the possibility of completing a handful of tracks within a 7-hour period, then you’re most likely better off looking for a Forza or Need for Speed title.

    I must admit that I didn’t know a lot about this game before reviewing it and sometimes that can be a either good thing or bad thing.I must admit that I didn’t know a lot about this game before reviewing it and sometimes that can be a either good thing or bad thing. Thankfully there is more good about Drift Zone than bad, and whilst it’s far from perfect I still managed to have a pretty enjoyable time with the game. Obviously the most important thing of a game of this ilk is the cars, and surprisingly enough they have a decent variety of cars to choose from. Each car feels and sounds different and this made it worth while to check out each car. Each car in the game can be customised quite a bit and it was pretty fun trying to get the style I wanted for my car. Unfortunately there isn’t a huge amount of content for you to get to grips with and I can’t see this game having much replayability for a lot of people. I will say though that the content that is present is pretty good and the gameplay on the whole has been done quite well. I didn’t suffer with any problems when it came to the controls and it was a nice surprise that they remained fluid and responsive throughout. If you’re looking for realism though then you will be sadly disappointed with this game. The vehicle damage is not very good and drifting can seem like a chore at times which in the end harms the immersion. This is a shame because the tracks can be quite immersive at times and there is a decent amount of variety present here. The presentation side of the game is the biggest let down in my opinion because there clearly is a lack of polish here. Visually the game just looks like a bog standard title and the sound design does nothing much to impress, which is a shame. At the end of the day if you don’t go into this game expecting too much then you will find yourself having quite a few enjoyable moments. Without a doubt this game is purely an arcade game at heart and it doesn’t try to be anything different, which in the end gives the game it’s good points and bad points. Drift Zone is a game that can be quite appealing at times but only in short bursts because if you play it for long periods then you will find that it becomes tedious quite quickly. I will say though that it does just enough to get a small recommendation from me just don’t expect too much.… Full Review »
