    If you love brick-breaking games then Doughlings: Arcade would be a decent addition to your collection. Its lackluster presentation and simplistic core gameplay weigh down the fun but it's still a rather enjoyable little game.

In terms of content the game has a decent amount for you to be getting on with and I’m pleased to say that there is also a decent amount of replayability present as well. Technically the game holds up really well throughout your playthrough and the controls thankfully remain tight and responsive as well. The gameplay is a huge amount of fun and the easy to pick up and play style combined with the different mechanics means repetetiveness isn’t an issue.
    I was very surprised by the game’s story because I must admit that I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I enjoyed the sound design it would’ve been nice if there was a little more in terms of variety when it came to the music in the game. This is only a small gripe but I thought the game was a little on the easy side and it would’ve been nice to have been seriously challenged from time to time. Does Doughlings: Arcade do enough to get a recommendation from me? Doughlings: Arcade is an absolute blast to play and without a doubt this is a game I can see myself revisiting time and time again. It’s a game that keeps everything simple which in turn makes itself accessible to a number of different gamers and this of course means everybody can enjoy what this game has to offer. In terms of issues the game doesn’t have too many at all and when it’s all said and done it gets far more things right than it gets wrong which means you can enjoy this fun and relaxing brick breaking style game for many hours without basically suffering with any frustration, which is very rare when it comes to a game of this ilk.    … Full Review »

Naturally, I had to make sure that I get my fix of my favorite brick breaker when the wife's on the switch console, so I swinged for the XBOX version as well. Same quality and slight better controls than the PS4 and PC version (or it could be the controller) but it feels like home clearing my way through these colorful aliens.… Full Review »

From Arcades to my first Amiga to my first BlackBerry,There had never been a time when I didn't enjoy your run of the mill brickbreaker game. From Arcades to my first Amiga to my first BlackBerry, I've been sharpening my breakout skills for several decades now. Doughlings: Arcade definitely put me in the 5th gear from the moment I downloaded it, all the way through the sweet story mode, and all the way through the depths of the level creation engine.

    First off this game has really cool designs. The characters and the backstory is a adorable as it can be. The original world created for this game universe seems sizable and expansive. The controls are hella smooth and the power ups are incredibly satisfying. So much so that when the timer on them runs out you are left wanting more, which in turn makes you work harder to achieve the upgrades in the RPG style lab that enables you to keep the upgrades for longer and utilize even further satisfactory versions of the Show off attacks.

    There were 75 regular levels across 3 worlds that were different enough from each other to keep things novel. Additionally there were 15 secret levels where the goal of the level changes and it becomes more of a strategic battle. I actually wish there were more of these alternative secret levels. You keep facing more enemy varieties as the game goes along and it helps things never get stale.

    The level creation engine is made pretty robustly and I did end up spending a good bit of time on it. Playing games is one thing but designing them seems to be a whole other art form. At first I fumbled all over myself while trying to create levels. But then I played through the story mode again with a critical eye and picked up on a lot of design elements that I was able to express myself with in the engine. I enjoyed the fact that so many other players from all around the world and across platforms played my levels and I don't even have the top score in some of them.

    This game is the most technically advanced edition of a quintessential arcade classic. Considering how cheap it is, it is an incredible value. Just grab it and power it up whenever you feel like breaking some bricks, as you've probably been doing for decades at this point.    … Full Review »
