So I will try to be honest while at the same time likely a little harsh on this one. I know I’d be doing an injustice to all you readers if I weren’t completely honest about how this title stacks up for the price point. That’s where I am with Doug Flutie Maximum Football 2019. This is truly the bottom line of hours of trying my best to like this game. When you call pass plays, the receivers never seem to run the route they are assigned. There is a lot of circling in one area of the field, and tons of congestion to complete a pass feels like a complete long shot. It’s very tough to get to a point where you can be effective in the air. The Flight of the ball just don't have cohesion with the action on the field. There is also an unusual disconnect when it comes to the flight of the ball. Passes move through the air so slow that the action becomes all but paused maybe needed slow mo for impact but it has the opposite effect on the action. It would appear as though that gives defensive players an opportunity to react and intercept passes, but defenders drop a ton of easy picks despite being in their hands for the interception on many occasions. The game simply lacks pesonality and the excitement of football in so many ways its sad. When evaluating indie titles, you always want to grade on a different level when it comes to presentation. However, Doug Flutie's Maximum Football 2019 is so lifeless that there is no real consequence or loss of immersion if you play with the sound off, and the 50% retail pricing don't scream indie to me or anyone playing a game so poorly made. There has to be something in the way of audio or visual flair that compensates for the lack of feel I just can't find it, not to mention the atrocious loading times for such a bad game. The loading times are much longer than you would expect. This isn’t a major issue, as it is something we’ve all dealt with before, but when the payoff isn’t great it only magnifies the irritation the load time brings to the table of bad gameplay, execution and sound. The A.I is terrible, Defensive lineman can have a QB dead to rights, and they will stop short of a sack or run past them. Linebackers don’t react well on intermediate passes, and they don’t plug gaps or set the edge. Gameplay is a real nightmare in all honesty. The user interface isn't well laid out and can be confusing at times. It’s great to see a small team of gamers attempting to fill a massive void in the sports gaming universe, but at the end of the day, the game still has to be fun to be considered a success. I wish this game was better so that it could be an option for college football gamers and for those looking for a game with the potential to ultimately become an alternative to Madden or the like od NCAA lost years ago.Unfortunately, it’s not yet good enough to create that sort of optimism. The team has announced patches coming the coming weeks to help correct these short comings, let's hope they can deliver on that promise as it sits not a lot of work needs done to be quality gaming for your Xbox One console.… Expand
