Doom 64 on Xbox One is exactly what you have come to expect from the franchise. There's nothing new or surprising here, but it's another solid set of demon slaying levels nonetheless. In all honesty, as Doom II was to Doom, it feels as if it could simply be an expansion to the original game. However, as the old saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

Rediscovering the past and retracing it is important to fully enjoy a never so extraordinary present.

A BRUTAL accompaniment for DOOM Eternal.

It’s dated, sure, but for £3.99/$4.99 you can’t really go wrong with DOOM 64. There’s just under 10 hours of solid gameplay here, and many might return to tackle the game’s harder difficulty levels. It won’t get your heart racing in the same way that more modern DOOM titles do, but if you have a penchant for retro shooters there’s plenty to like. It’s perhaps the best of the classic DOOMs, if you don’t mind that its soundtrack doesn’t have tunes that you can tap your feet to, that is.

A classic returns and looks better than ever! Gameplay is exactly as I remember, run and blast your way through the worst hell has to offer of if you fancy it mash them up with the chainsaw. As you run collecting ammo, armor be on the look out for those annoying keycards. Tricky as ever to find and I certainly don't remember that far back. However the game certainly runs a lot smoother than I remember and ran really well in the first place. Made this a very happy chappy. Visually updated for recent times but keeping the original style the game looks better than ever before and we couldn't be happier. The controls are simple and given the age of the original and style of the game this is the perfect complement to the game. Using bumpers to change weapons, A to interact and RT to attack and left stick to move and right stick to turn around keeps life nice and simple just like we remember, however it is hard to not try looking up and down. Overall: if you want a trip down memory lane you NEED to play this! Want to experience some OG Doom? You NEED to play this. Full Review »

At first, it wasn't easy to understand the mechanics of the game, as I'd never played a game like this before. But I was very surprised after a few levels, I liked it because once you get used to the mechanics of weapons and shooting, the gameplay becomes interesting and fun, which I think was fundamental for me to finish the game. The only thing I regretted was not researching the gameplay before I bought it, so I had to get used to it, to help you I've le
