Multiplayer is a blast and single player won’t let you go, even though you might get tired of the grind about halfway through. There’s also a neat story to be found and the cast of characters that keep reanimating are delightful, with some very original game mechanics on show.

Die for Valhalla!’s possession mechanic never tires and remains every bit as addictive as it is enticing. It’s a very accessible game that comes with some intriguing design choices and a great deal of variation across the board. I found issue with a few instances of unfair difficulty and it would have been nice to see support for online multiplayer, but when all is said and done, Die for Valhalla! is easily one to recommend.

Die For Valhalla‘s unique gameplay elements accompanied by some glorious 2D artwork help make this one more palatable in the long run than most.

Die for Valhalla! is another game that features this particular mythology and on the whole I did enjoy my time with the game. The story which as you can tell by now has Norse mythology running through it has been done really well and the humour that’s included keeps things enjoyable and interesting, which is a bonus. I would however have liked the characters to be a little more interesting and the story would’ve been even better in my opinion if the characters had a bit more in terms of variety. Thankfully though the gameplay does have more variety and there are also a few unique and interesting mechanics thrown in for good measure as well, which without a doubt makes the gameplay stay fresh and fun for longer. You can play this game in both single player and co-op and whilst it can be fun at times when playing on your own the game is definitely best enjoyed when played with friends. The main reason why it’s best played with friends is because it hardly ever gets tedious when playing this way and there’s nothing more satisfying than defeating an array of enemies with your friends. Speaking about defeating enemies the combat in the game ticked a lot of boxes for me. The combat is very easy to get to grips with and by keeping it simple it means dying doesn’t make you become frustrated very much. In fact the only time I really got frustrated with the game is when I had to wait for the game to load up after dying because loading up after dying can seem like an age at times. Thankfully though the frustration levels never get to really annoying levels and the main reason for that is because in my opinion they’ve got the perfect balance of being fair and challenging at the same time, which is great. Without a doubt one of my favourite things about Die for Valhalla! is the presentation side of the game. Visually the game looks awesome most of the time and the art style definitely gives the game a lot of charm. The sound design whilst not as good as the visual department has still been done really well and in the end it does give the gameplay an extra layer to it. At the end of the day Die for Valhalla! is one of them rare games that manages to combine different genre’s together and the best thing is that for the most part the different genre’s combine together almost flawlessly. It isn’t perfect throughout though and it does have a few niggling problems, but in the end this game provides you with a fun and enjoyable adventure that’s worth experiencing. Expand
