    This is a competent game. It has likeable characters and a relatively interesting story. The gameplay is okay as well, but it has some quite glaring problems and to be honest, I expected way more based on the reviews.

    Some journalists have stated that DMCV has the best combat system in the entire hack & slash genre. I completely disagree with that. In a proper hack and slash game...     ...the player should be able to fight effectively against multiple enemies at once. Yet in DMCV, most fights are 1v1 between the player and one enemy NPC, even if there are surrounding enemies in the given area. It feels like a glorified souls-like rather than an actual hack & slash title.

    ... the player sould have at least as many ranged attacks as close-combat moves, because that way he can fight effectively against multiple enemies that are in the area at different distances from each other and from the player. Yet in DMCV, basically all moves are close-combat moves (even though you can use a pistol, for example), and even the close-combat moves have way smaller range that I've seen in other games (Darksiders, DmC, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Bayonetta, God of War, etc.).

    ... is supposed to be tough, but fair and should have a combat system that is easy to learn, but difficult to master. The enemies should be fearful and strong but they should also have their weaknesses. For example, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a very tough game, especially on Paladin difficulty, but because the combat system is so excellent, if you master it, you can complete the whole game without ever getting hit - and you can also exploit the weaknesses of the countless different and unique enemies of the game. However, DMCV is stupidly easy even on the hardest difficulty because the A.I. barely do anything at it makes enemy encounters quite boring after a couple of hours.

    The other problem is that because the combat system is very much centered around one on one fights for multiple reasons, there's practically no reason to ever not use the Lock-On system. Yet, the only way to use the Lock-On feature (lock-on enemy target) is to use the Right Bumper button (if you are using an Xbox controller). This makes my hand hurt after a while, it just feels weird to constantly hold that button down, especially the same time that I'm continously doing combos using the X and Y buttons. In other hack & slash games, it's basically a standard in terms of controls is to toggle Lock-On using the Right Stick (click), then switching between targets by tilting that stick to left or right. I don't understand why DMCV didn't use this. It feels just as weird as shooters did on PS3, because you had to use the upper shoulder buttons to aim and fire instead of the triggers.

    TL;DR: The combat system feels very limited because as a player, you don't really have the chance nor the tools to fight against multiple enemies at the same time, the game rather chooses to focus on 1v1 fights instead and because of that, the overall combat feels way less satisfying and chaotic. Also, the game is stupidly easy because the A.I. most of the time stands still even on the hardest difficulty so it removes all the challenge and it makes the game boring after a while.    … Expand

    Devil May Cry , a hack and slash game the we have been waiting for it . Better, bigger and more powerful than ever . In the begging we can understand the history of Devil may cry. The story is involving and players will be stunned. Flashbacks are lovely but not annoying . Dante(symbol of devil may cry) , Nero and a new character V are here after 11 years. The story takes place severalDevil May Cry , a hack and slash game the we have been waiting for it . Better, bigger and more powerful than ever . In the begging we can understand the history of Devil may cry. The story is involving and players will be stunned. Flashbacks are lovely but not annoying . The eye-catching graphic and dark , inanimate world will induce the sense of frustration. But red orbs unbalance the game play but it is not a negative point . Combat(like always) is interesting .     levels are boring, new characters are boring, the combat system is broken, the plot is primitive, the camera is broken, the visual is nasty, the bosses are not memorable, the music is miserable, rock music is not in sight. THIS is not DMC!

    Devil may cry 5 may be the coolest game I've played in my entire 15 years of gaming !
    . Amazing game play that is unparalleled in any hack and slash game , 3 characters that are insanely unique and fun. Enemy designs that are creative and daunting. Graphics are outstanding! .. as a summary: Get this game now. I'll go back to slaying some more    As for my first review of a game ever:

    Best DMC game so far. 3 playable characters:Checked. Camera Rotating Perfection:Checked. Badass Gameplay Style and Plenty of Weapons: Checked. Voice Actor Match to the character: Checked. As a FAN of DMC, i think this is the best things capcom has reached

    Like seriously, at this point who wouldn't want to kill a bunch of Demon with motorcycle?
    I really enjoy this game, good grapichs, good character, good story, good combo.
    The perfomance is really amazing, like 144fps+ at 1080p ultra on my specs. I didn't find any bug and that's a good things. Overall a really solid hack and slash game from Capcom, im really glad they make the fith DMC.    Like seriously, at this point who wouldn't want to kill a bunch of Demon with motorcycle?

    This game is so stupid. But I like these characters and this universe and I can say this is the best dmc in which I've ever played and I expect to see a new chapter of this madness. And thanks Capcom for the second best game for me this year. Thanks. ^_^

    Devil May Cry 5 feels super good its story is pretty damn good the gameplay is one the absolute best you'll find in all of gaming and the same could be said about the graphics! The only con that I have with the game is that it ended too early!!

    What else is there to say? it is a damn bombastic game, whether you are familiar with it or not.
    A must buy for DmC fans. Strongly recommended for fans of action games.

    This old school meets new school dmc is exactly what fans were asking for. A video game not ashamed of its roots and proves old school gameplay with a few new twists is still viable in todays game design. In addition to beautiful graphics and a smooth gameplay the game also offers a good storyline with it, which is a thing a lot of DMC fans would like to see since the older games has a little insufficient storyline. Yet the producers has fixed this factor game by game. There are some surprises in the game which will make youDMC 5 has come to receive the throne of hack and slash genre back.     Devil may cry is back after big 11 years and its a great return. Im happy that they didint continue with dmc devil may cry. Big thanks for this gem to the Itsuno-san and his team.

    The gameplay is really fun, varied and has a nice pacing. The story is straight forward (which is not a bad thing) and the characters are super charismatic and entertaining. The only thing I dislike are the environments, they don't detract from the game but they could have made it perfect.

    I Just ended main campaign and this is my short review.

    Im DMC fan from DMC3. First of all, im a little dissapointment about leve design. I f you played demo, this i show looks 50% of the game. If you saw prolog, this is second part of the game. Nothing changes about it. Colors are dull, dark, everything looks the same. It is one of the main issues in my opinion. Co-Op is a joke. By    I Just ended main campaign and this is my short review.

The rest of "coop" time i didnt see player and funiest thing, you need to mark performance of your partner after mission. There is only two marks, "Excellent" and "dont mark". Good Job Capcom. And you cant invite your friend ofc, you will get random playrtd in these levels.

    Gameplay is excellent. I had a lot of fun with slaying demons. It feels better than 3 and 4
    Music is ok
    Graphic on Xbox One X is AMAZING. RE ENGINGE looks beatiful.

    I still will be playing DMC V because its good game. But im dissapointment with level design... Its boring. DMC not deserve for that after 11 years waiting for true sequel    … Expand

    Game Delivers everything that we expected + so much more, its everything that we and devs wanted but couldn't give us in previous games, difficulty is challenging and if You played earlier games there`s some surprises as well :D

    At 15 hours long, and with the unlockable Son Of Sparta mode upping the difficulty while switching enemies around, Dante’s latest is both stylish and generously stuffed. Though occasionally intimidating and repetitive in places, you’ll still relish making Satan sing.
