Capcom returns to its trusted formula for something that plays like a outrageously pretty PS2 game - and that's a very good thing. [Eurogamer Recommended]

Devil May Cry 5 is a firework. If you’re the one with the lighter, then setting the explosion off is a simple as flicking your finger. If you’re watching someone else, it’s more than enough to enjoy the bright colors and noise. Players looking to get dazzled will find themselves spellbound, while those who dig deeper will find a rewarding and expressive combat system. It’s a little superficial, but that comes with the territory. And while Devil May Cry 5 doesn’t completely redefine the series, it hones the gameplay to a sharp edge that will please diehards and newbies alike.

Devil May Cry 5 is truly, madly, deeply itself. I can’t think of any other game in which I can slice through flying demons while my panther familiar transforms into a spinning wheel of bladed death as metal guitar licks screech across rain-soaked streets. I’m not interested in perfection in that situation; I’m interested in fun. And Devil May Cry 5 is fun.

Technically Devil May Cry 5 didn’t throw up many if any problems at all and the accompanying controls were also near to perfection. RemainingTechnically Devil May Cry 5 didn’t throw up many if any problems at all and the accompanying controls were also near to perfection. Remaining tight a n responsive at all times, and whenever anybody mentions Capcom two franchises spring to mind immediately, and they are Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. With the brilliance of the new Resident Evil 2 fresh (looking so forward to the new remake of Resident Evil Zero as well. I had very high hopes for Devil May Cry 5 and to say this game reached my expectations and then some would be quite an understatement, My only real complaint is I felt the game was a tad short because I truly enjoyed It so much. From the moment I started the game I knew I was in for an amazing Capcom feast, both the visuals and sound design are wonderful and the accompanying story was a fantastic adventure to say the least. The gameplay is simply some of the best I've experienced from Capcom over the last year. The boss fights are huge and full of challenge and life. In terms of content the game has a decent amount for you to sink your teeth into I just wasn't done when my experience was over. The DMC story mode was a nice addition as well which I think many of the younger players may have missed the epic tale of the DMC series. Can't wait for the next batch from our beloved Capcom in the world of terror and survival. Full Review »
