The worst DLC for Destiny ever. Broke the crucible. Broke PvE. Sunset all guns. Trials was cancelled for the first 2 weeks. No new gear sets for Trials. No attention to crucible maps or new content. This is actually a joke.

There's nothing daring or forced you to approach the game differently. The new subclass is okay. It's kinda fun and maybe functions better in high end gameplay, but I don't see it yet. As cool as gadget abilities are the game is about movement. Still nothing touches top tree dawnblade for movement. It's funny, when acquiring Stasis and you had it briefly for missions, you retain top tree dawn's double dodge. Now we're talking. That being said Crucible will be a mess. If you run into a six pack in Iron Banner all spamming abilities it may be unplayable. The new pulse rifle will probably be meta....
I was fine with the removal of all the guns as long as you didn't just replace them with the same guns having new names. That looks to be what has happened. Unless they're rolling out updates like crazy and there's a new planet on the way, they've got a problem. They've even removed some of the cheeses to do of the mind-numbingly boring crap like "get 4000000 kills with this weapon".
At the end of the day, one planet, one strike, one subclass for $100.
Finally, the Cosmodrome is f*cking insulting. You couldn't even change up the strike? Probably the end for me. I'll play it until I just can't do one more "grind" mission.

Beyond Light is an enjoyable but OVERPRICED expansion. It is totally offensive that Bungie is asking gamers to pay AU$ 60 for standard edition and AU$100+ for deluxe edition for a 3-hour long campaign. Although it is easy to be blinded by frustration while thinking about this DLC, I will give an objective and detailed review of each aspect of this expansion.

Although it is easy to be blinded by frustration while thinking about this DLC, I will give an objective and detailed review of each aspect of this expansion.

    CONTENT: 2/10
When Bungie announced the removal of 4 destinations due to the arrival of Beyond Light´s new destination; EUROPA i decided not to argue and just wait for new season release and check if it was worth it. Well the time has come and indeed it wasn´t worth it. Although EUROPA is a very beautiful and well designed map with cool dynamic weather mechanics, it doesn´t compensate the removal of so much content. The map is not that big, it only has three lost sectors and public events are the same from other planets except one. Regarding Bungie´s move to bring back the Cosmodrome, it was good for nostagia, but a lazy move in the end, it wasn´t even necessary to bring it back since the only mission from Beyond light that takes place there could be held in any other planet.

Campaign is really short, just like 4 missions with grindy open world quets between them and only one new strike, NO new dungeon, NO new special public event like CONTACT (Season of arrivals) and new weapons quantity doesn´t compensate sunsetting dozens of previous years weapons. They´re really useful and fun to use but at the end it is another example of Bungie´s recent mediocrity trend. Also the stasis grenadelauncher is the most useless weapon ever conceived in a videogame.

    STORY: 7/10
Although campaign was really short, I really enjoyed the story and the cutscenes. The stranger´s return came with lots of answers to previous unresolved questions. However it is a 7 out of 10 for me because I felt that the way the villain is defeated is a little bit anticlimatic. Not as the action itselft but the way the scene and DLC ended. I thought the cutscene was going to continue, but no, it was it. Also most of the story is told as in gameplay dialog and although it is a good resouce, I think they could include more cutscenes instead of narrating everything.

    GAMEPLAY: 4/10
Although Bungie hasn´t changed gameplay mechanics, the inclusion of a new super, changes in PVE and PVP playlist and changes in loot drop has negatively affcted the way we perceive gameplay.
The new Stasis abilities and super feel great in PVE, however, they totally broke PVP. Crucible isn´t enjoyable anymore since almost all players will constantly get frozen during 70% of the match. Well cordinated squads can take this to a toxic level if all 6 players are using the stasis subclass. You will barely be able to move during the match.

Current loot drop makes the game too much of a grind. Since there are a few activities that drop pinnacle gear, you will find yourself getting loot with the same power level for days. Even pinnacle gear drops give you roughly 1 or 2 point above your current power level, which makes your way to level 1260 a total nightmare. It almost feel like they are aware that game lacks content so just fill gameplay with hours of grinding.

    CONCLUSION:

If you have Xbox Gamepass go ahead and play the expansion, otherwise please do yourself a favor and do not waste your money in this DLC. Beyond light is totally enjoyable, but its lack of content compared to its price and the hype that Bungie created arround its launch makes it an offensive rip off from Destiny´s creators.

While I have beaten the main campaign in Beyond Light (as a Titan), I have not done all the side quests, and the raid has not yet been released, so take that into consideration. I just can not make sense of that. Either way, the expansion, and Destiny 2 in general, is worth a try if you have not played it. If you have Xbox Game Pass, Destiny 2 and its current expansions are all free, so you might as well dip your toe in the pool if you are subscribed to the Game Pass service. Expand

The reviews for this game are needless negative. Sure It removed content, sure it removed strikes, but man the game is way better for it.

Yes I said 40, a lot of reviews straight up lied here, the expansion isn't 60 dollars, it's 40, the Deluxe IS 70, but that comes the seasons as well

Also the Raid is great. 10/10.

There are genuine elements of greatness in Beyond Light, including an intriguing subplot that should have been the main campaign and a great raid, but it’s not enough to replace everything we’ve lost. Destiny 2: Beyond Light is another enjoyable Destiny adventure thanks to the lore and gameplay, but it does little to move Destiny 2 beyond the status quo.

Beyond Light is a very good content expansion that offers enough hours of gameplay and news to make it worthwhile for all players in the series. The doubt is in itself, from now on, it will be just as recommended for players who try to enter this experience for the first time.

While Destiny: Beyond Light on Xbox does axe more content than it adds, it is still worth playing through. The new world is an interesting place, and with a lot of post story content coming from Variks, the scope to have fun is large. A new Raid makes me happy indeed, and with new exotic quests and Hunts to take part in the future does appear to be bright.
