Cricket 19’s presentation and gameplay may feature more distracting niggles than an Australian slip cordon, but in spite of such grievances it’s still the closest to the real thing that a cricket game has ever been. Scenario mode is a welcome inclusion in terms of the almost limitless replayability it provides, and substantial improvements to the AI make games against the computer feel palpably exciting. With a bit more post-release polish Cricket 19 could really shine. Here’s hoping the developers use spit and not sandpaper.

Occasionally thrilling, often banal, this cricketer may stump you. [Issue#179, p.80]

Cricket 19 is a decent, but slightly disappointing follow up, with technical issues and glitches letting down an otherwise solid cricket simulator. The wealth and variety of game modes will likely keep you occupied for a while, but a few patches might be needed before the game becomes a real winner.

Cricket isn’t my favorite sports, but whenever the Ashes Series is on I do tune in to check it out. The 2019 Ashes Series is approaching so I found myself interested in the new game that has made its way to the Xbox One family of consoles. I’m happy to report that Cricket 19 definitely hit the spot this year. In fact as far as cricket games go this is the very best in my opinion and it’s definitely the most realistic I've had the opportunity to enjoy. This realism is felt almost immediately as well thanks to the excellent visual and sound design provided by review on the Xbox One X, and even though there are a few minute technical issues, these issues didn’t tamper with the fun and enjoyment the game provides. Having fun and enjoyable moments can be experienced both on your own or with a friend as well because the AI is more than clever enough to keep things immersive and feeling almost human. Overall Cricket 19 has a huge amount for you to get to play and it hasn’t gotten stale which is impressive considering cricket isn’t the most exciting sport to me. There is lack of real players and stadia, the custom characters are more fun for me to rise up from the "ashes" as a rookie. Cricket 19 has surprised me just how well it's been done and it gets so much right and I can’t remember another cricket game reaching this level. Cricket 19 is as close to the real sport as you can get without stepping on the field yourself. So if you're a fan of sports game it's a must buy for any sports fan and a welcomed addition to the Xbox One and simply beautiful on the Xbox One X. Full Review »
